Whoo ... I'm going to try and get there by train. Which is going to be an epic adventure (especially the way back as - apparently - there's no way back by train unless you travel via Uzbekistan Luxembourg).
Ah well. Save me a sleeping place, as it might be quite late until I arrive. ;D

So no one's tried DarkBASIC or Genesis 3D? I own Classic DarkBASIC, and Genesis 3D is still alive.

I tried DarkBasic - and found it seriously sucks (imho). I switched over to Blitz3D and I'm super happy with that...

The part in Gabriel Knight III where Grace hears a baby crying in the attic of the vineyard mansion kind of creeped me out as well.

Ooh yeah - I guess I repressed that one. Very nasty...

Realms of the Haunting had me whimpering a couple of times. Way back when... ;D
Oh and good call on the Gabriel Knight games - part II freaked me out a couple of times...

Gosh, am I the only one that doesn't mind the whole central theme of the movie (what the whole final 30 minutes of the movie is about)? I thought it was done carefully not as over the top as I was  afraid of ... not like AI at all!
But then, I AM an incurable fan boy... ;D

Meanwhile, back on topic...
Where the idea of a global senate is concerned, the UN is already half-way there.

Global senate?

Positrons have negative mass.

Total mindf*ck. So big balls of positrons repel eachother?

Jeez, chill out people. This all sounds like when the first trains were invented - that the "awesome speed" at which these contraptions traversed the countryside would give people heart attacks and make cows explode.
I very, VERY much doubt that anything done with the LHC is going to cause the apocalypse. Leave that to modern warfare and gene technology. ;)

Speaking of which - Miez, how're you traveling? Live anywhere near Leiden?

Hmm ... didn't really think about it yet. Train I guess - I'm in Utrecht.

Miez: did you phone tech support? I usually find them most helpful!

I cannot find the tech support telephone number. I have downloaded "Microsoft UltrasafeNetcheck with toolbar extensions" from this website.
My sisters PC is much better - it has no Norton! Maybe I will install "Microsoft UltrasafeNetcheck with toolbar extensions" on her PC as well.

The site is only "suspicious" because it is new and hasn't been approved with Microsoft's "Microsoft UltraSafeNetcheck" (TM) software to ensure that it is safe. Of course, to ensure it is safe you must first install "Microsoft UltraSafeNetcheck" (TM) and fill in all the details.

Hope that helps!

I have installed Microsoft UltraSafeNetcheck and then Norton started complaining about rootkits and trojans but I just ignored that - it always does that.
But now my computer does not want to start up again! :o It says something like "ZeroCore Server on IP 208.192.190.86 - connecting" and then the screen goes black. We still have the internets, because I am writing this on my sisters PC. Please Help!1!!

General Discussion / Re: An mp3 player

I've had a fair few MP3 players... some shitty, some VERY shitty (and one of those was a Creative Zen). But the one I have now is just awesome:

Sony NWZ-A816 (Amazon link)

It's not too expensive, has great sound quality, super user friendly. It comes in a 8Gb version as well (I have the 4Gb) and best of all: you don't need any software to use it. Just connect with a USB cable, drag-n-drop. I'd heartily recommend this thing. :)
