Hey, did you put creatures in this? Cause I went to "Yoggoth" and there was this red thing  moving around on the ground near the water. I can even post screens if you want. :o

Eh ... nope. I didn't put any creatures in yet. I will though, in the future. A screenie would be cool! :)

I never knew you were into programming as well, with what tools did you create the application?

Can't say I'm a great programmer, but this little doodah is being made with Blitz3D. :)

So, in my spare time (yes - every now and then I have some) I've been tinkering around on a little program. More a toy than a game, but you might want to check it out. Remember: still very much work in progress. ;D

Read all ah-boot it:

Awe-some! :D I still think the original Dark Crystal movie could be turned into a fine fangame... I'd be more than willing to do the artwork. After FoY that is ...  ;)

This test is 100% accurate. Says the following about me:

"You are the Starving Artist! Like some sort of emaciated Frenchman, you sit in your fancy little chair and contemplate beauty, meaning, flowers, and all kinds of other ridiculous crap."

So true! ;D

Right, that's it. We need bras with remotely controlled unlocking mechanisms. Preferably voice controlled. :)

Brighton is calling you.

You cannot resist it.

You're being payed for this, aren't you? ;D

I'm sort of interested  ;D ... and any time is good for me. Haven't been to Wales yet.

Realized that the walls should be white. :-o  Kept the floors wooden and incorporated the floorboards and shading.  I'm not 100% happy with the shading but Khris thank you for giving me a nice head start.

Nice one, Dave. However: nothing screams "big ship" more than a lifeboat on some davits (sp?).  :)

I'm on a roll.

Thanks everyone who helped me with my last BG.  Here's another one.  I'm hoping to use these BGs in the january Mags comp.

Anyway, this is the deck of the ship:

Simple, but I'm under a deadline. :)  Any advice appreciated.

If this is for the same cruise-liner as in your previous BG, it needs to be a lot wider I guess. And most (metal) ships are painted white inside - so I'd turn the brown areas into white and pale greys. But that's just my 20 cents. The dark "hallway silhouette" is very effective. Nice BG!

Yep! It'll be animated.  The smoke was easy.  I'll try adding a wake and see how that works.

I'd make it reflect on the water (just a bit, and distort the reflection due to waves) and add some detail to the dark, lower area of the hull. Maybe a band in another colour, parallel to the white gunwale. The hint of a the ships name, anchor ports, etc.
Nice ship though! ;D

Speaking of Narnia ... you may not yet have enjoyed this:

Phat down with Narnia and cupcakes... ;D

Hey! they may not be 70s or 80s but where are:

- Bottom
- League of Gentlemen

Both are on my favourite list. Even though Bottom is pretty cheesy (which is part of the charm I guess). ;D

Also: Liz Titor ... could she be a relation of Jonh Titor? (http://www.johntitor.com/) Hmmm ... intriguing crypto-spam!  ;D

The best way to do this (IMHO), especially complicated architectural stuff like this, is to make a quick-and-dirty mockup in your favourite 3D program, cover all of it with a grid texture, put the camera where you'd like and use the renders as a basis for paint overs. No worries about perspective and you can make sure that the building "makes sense".

The last version is really nice. Very atmospheric ... some things that I would change:

- make the light falloff from the lamp a little more smooth, especially on the bookcase. It goes from illuminated by the lamp to near black very suddenly.

- the fire in the fireplace might illuminate the inside of the fireplace and the carpet in front of it some more.

- there's something odd about the snow outside. But I can't put my finger on it.

But all in all it's a really pretty BG, it feels very warm and cozy. :)

Miez and Rick are the AGS grande dames I believe

What's that? You have to speak up a little, you young whippersnapper! My hearing is going...

Ah you kids, with your mobile telephones and your breezers ... when I was young we had to send emails by telegraph. And point and click adventures meant wandering into the meadow and poking a stick at the cows ... grumble ... cough ... ;)

Anyway: happy BDay, RHarpe!

Or you could - as with all the shape tools - set it to it's "direct" setting, like this:

Just switch on the third button (as in the picture). Not too sure about the proper name for this setting ("direct" seems to describe it adequately). This works: no new layers, but the lines (or shapes) are drawn directly. Which also means you can't edit them afterwards.

Ok,

I have a weird phobia as well: the edge of a door on the hinged side. I ALWAYS picture myself getting my fingers trapped there. The feeling is especially strong when I see those big glass doors in department stores, airports etc. closing.
Just describing it makes me tuck away my toes and fingers.
