Haven't seen ROTK (yet) - but I've seen the first two parts several times and I have to say that it has been quite a while since I've seen a movie that does CG in such a convincing way.
To me the CG in LOTR works because the special FX in these movies are not EXCLUSIVELY done with computers. For instance; when I first saw the two Argonath statues in the lake in the Fellowship, they looked like incredibly convincing CG. When I saw the DVD documentary my jaw dropped when I learned that they where two big styrofoam props ...
The computer graphics in LOTR are very transparent, they never become CG for the sake of CG. Even Gollum is played by a real actor (who's then motion captured and skinned).
I like the movies because I can watch them and NOT go "miniature ... CG ... miniature ... matte painting" in my head while watching the scenes. And there are bucketloads of movies where I do this subconsciously (sp?).

IMHO of course...  ;D

I guess I better clear this up a little.
She's in Rome now and all of her electronics and stuff are still here (in fact, I'm taking over her apartment, so I'll be using them). I just need to order a DVD player online in Europe and have it delivered to her. The problem is that there seems to be no stores in Europe. I even think amazon.co.uk is fake, because it won't let me ship anything.
Do you guys have elves that make all your stuff for you or what?

Amazon.co.uk is no fake - I've ordered stuff there. But ordering a British DVD player is not going to work in Italy - the plugs are different. Cheapest would be to order from some online Italian store. And they exist; for instance the "Expert" corporation has over 6000 shops all over Europe, in Italy as well: http://www.expert-italia.it/
Unfortunately their website is in Italian, so it would be great if some Italian forum member could step up...

You'll find a lot of DVD players have the ability to be multi-region even if they are not. I know that even some stores tell you how to do it.

It's usually like pressing some really strange combination of buttons on the remote control. you could probably look it up on the internet.

True - you usually need a "universal" remote. But be very careful; it's possible to terminally screw up your DVD player.
Still, Rode - I'd find a region free DVD player in your area and send it to Italy.

I played "Intrepid Explorer" on a steamdriven Babbage Calculation Engine in 1896. When I was about to reach level sixteen ("Punjabi Punishment") the punch cards ran out ...

er ... no ...

Probably the first game I played was the sad excuse for a "breakout" game in Basic that came with my ZX Spectrum.

CSS takes some getting used to, but once you've discovered it you'll never want to go back to the old '<font face="Arial....' tags etc.
And if you have a somewhat larger website, you can also put all your CSS definitions in a textfile, call it "anything.css", smack it on your server and link to it in all your pages. That makes changing the whole appearance of your website soooo easy.
A link to an external CSS file goes in the <HEAD> ... </HEAD> bit of your page and looks like this:

<LINK REL="StyleSheet" HREF="anything.css" TYPE="text/css">

Gods, I'm so glad I'm Dutch - the whole school uniform thing has been abandoned here ever since WWII (I think). And it was outmoded even then.
Never understood the reasoning behind the whole "this education is better because all those receiving it wear the same clothes" anyway.

Each background is probably two days of work for a pro, so 34 days there.

And I think that's a VERY optimistic guess!

The only little thing that bugs me is that he has hardly any chin. Maybe give him a pixel more in that area?
