* Graphics in adventure games are unnecessary, because adventures are narrative-based, and such narrative advances primarily through interactions.

Ok - but a lot of puzzles in point-n-click adventures are based on visual clues, so how can you stick with this argument?

On a somewhat related note:

I was in San Francisco and found Loom - Macintosh Disk version (in pristine condition, with the music tape) in a garage sale. It was lying in a box labeled "free". I was so happy finding this for free, that I gave the lady of the sale two dollars for it anyway. :)

I stand corrected - nine words:

snowball in hell with kickass cooling system built in.

This Game is Lickmysweatyscrotumware

Lickmysweatyscrotumware is a response to people who think they are being smart by making a quick buck off of other peoples work etc ....

Yep - we'll have to release FoY as Lickmysweatyscrotumware.  ;D

Go for high color with the black outlines. High colour gives you the option to use some really subtle shading, while you can still use a limited palette if you so desire.
Your art is simply amazing - I love it, and would very much like to see a game in this style :)

ah yes - the movie is TEH SUCK  :P - a blemish on such a great book.

Speaking of female-protagonists-in-books-that-are-ready-to-be-turned-into-an-adventure: anybody read "Smilla's sense of snow" by Peter Hoeg? That would make a great adventure...

Hehe - then you can put me in your bra game as well!  ;)

Colossal, I think you're misunderstanding what I'm saying completely. This isn't a whiney "there are no girls in games!" thread. I'm saying that it's harder to connect with female characters. Mentally. It's harder to feel the same level of affection for a female character as it is to feel for say, Guybrush or Ben Throttle or whatever.

PERHAPS this is because of the way they are often the characters that need rescuing, or PERHAPS it is because they usually appear more formal than the player character.

See, you're getting me wrong. ¬¬ I'm not saying that anybody is making games that are sexist or whatever.  I'm merely saying it's HARDER TO IDENTIFY WITH FEMALE CHARACTERS.

Yuf - maybe that's because you are female. I identify with female protagonists very easily: Sophia, that girls from TLC, Grace from the GK series. And I always play female characters when roleplaying. And neither of them is a whining, wimpy woman that needs to be rescued.

Sequels are a movie thing?
That's pretty funny coming from the project lead of an Indiana Jones game :)

Ah - but Indiana Jones is so much more than mere movie or game material. It's a way of life.  ;)

Check out the sticky tutorials thread: http://www.agsforums.com/yabb/index.php?board=4;action=display;threadid=600 - there's bound to be something in there that'll help you along. :)

Fighting for fun - jeez, don't you people have anything better to do? (making adventure games, for instance).
If calling each other d*ckhead is your thing, then have a lot of fun with it, but count me out.

STFU Noob

I second that. And third it. Possibly might even fourth it a bit. Hands off the Rode - or suffer the consequences.
