When she was little (don't laugh or I'll kill you) she was bit by a rabid dog and now she will have violent shaking attacks. These keep getting worse and worse. I love her and it kills me to hear these things.

Christ, that is f*cked up - I really feel for you. The only thing I can suggest is: keep in touch: mail her, call her, talk to her - as often as you can (without becoming a nuisance obviously). I really hope this works out for the best.

And what's all this "never to see Holly again" sh*t?!? ('scuse my French) Why not? Any good reason? Don't let people put you down like that - not even parents or teachers have that right, I think. Boy, I'm getting all emotional about this.  >:(

nope - no easy way to change the crosshair color. You can tap the spacebar though: changes your cursor into the "hand" icon for as long as you keep the spacebar depressed (no Prozac for that key!). At least you'll see where it is then ... :)

I think (shame on me - I bought SLudge, had great plans with it, and never even read the manual) that Sludge uses bitmaps that tell the ego-sprite (or any other sprite) to assume a different tint or luminosity value. Which makes coloured light and shadow areas very easy to implement. AGS may have this as well - I don't know.
You buy a licence for the Sludge engine and dev. kit and after that I think you're free to do whatever you want it.
I haven't worked with either system enough to be able to make a judgement on which is best :)

I just got DrakBasic. It rox0rz!

If you mean DarkBasic, I agree - and it certainly rox0rz for making turn based strategy games!

Yoghurt! believe me, it really helps: when I was young (long time ago) and we went on vacation to some sundrenched country my sister used to burn like a crisp on the very first day every single time. So my mother used to cover her in (unsweetened, no fruity bits, just plain) yoghurt.
Which worked.

I just get a screen full of blackness ... cute blackness, but still ... could be because it's 4:19 AM in cute kittyland ... I'll check back later.

This was/is going to be something for a website:

Hell, I might even turn it into a comic or a game one day.

Sludge uses a very irritating walkable area system, based on concave polygons, while AGS uses bitmaps for this. I prefer the bitmap method, personally. The Sludge lightmap system is very sweet however. Also I think AGS supports plugins, while SLudge does not.
In the end great adventures can be made with both, I think. It is not the engine that makes or breaks a game.

Peter Greenaway's "Prospero's Books" - seen it twenty times, prepared to see it at least 20 times more ...

Kubrick's "Lolita" - not what you might think, just watch it ...

"Brazil", "Evil Dead", "A Clockwork Orange" (which seems to be a favourite, it's been mentioned a dozen times already)

Quote from: Mikko on Thu 26/06/2003 21:31:26One question that came to my mind: Do you always try to be as strict with your original sketch? I think that my weakness (one of them) in drawing (not only with pc) is that I don't make the sketch ready enough. When looking at your sketch and the final image it's almost like you had "only" the coloring left to do.

Er, strangely that does seem to happen most of the time. All the "fiddling about" with corners, vanishing points, the size and place of everything is mostly done in the sketch phase. However the sketch is not a rock-solid "law" to me - it just usually turns out that way ...

Quote from: Mikko on Thu 26/06/2003 21:31:26I found this tutorial very interesting and I'll probably be returning into it every now and then. But if one advice from me is allowed: Remember everyone. You don't learn this just by reading, you must experiment a lot!

:) Thanks! and you couldn't be more right: read all the tutorials out there, then ignore them all, and start experimenting. A lot. All the time. Learning these things can only be done by "doing" not merely "reading". :)

And if the seats are hovering, why not have the table hover as well? (after all - you have the technology, and a hovering table could be a great puzzle item) :)
