People have been asking about this for some time, but we've finally overcome the disastrous AdventureDevelopers crash, so the Fountain of Youth website is back on, and the long promised tutorial is online.

Not afraid to get stuck with a measly 320x150 pixel background? Check out this tutorial on backgrounds, Fountain of Youth style:

Have lot's of fun!

I personally like the sound of "Dark Chamber" more than "Camera Obscura".

I'm not sure if miez meant it as a joke, as the smiley would indicate, but I'm treating it as a serious suggestion.

Hmm, those damn smileys! no, it wasn't intended as a joke - in fact I've been playing around with the thought of making a GK game for a long time.

Quote from: GarageGothic on Wed 25/06/2003 08:46:48So I honestly don't believe in a "real" GK game made by fans. What I WOULD like to see are spin-off games using the characters from GK, just like Night of the Hermit does with MI. Imagine a Detective Mosely game, or maybe a historical game starring one of the earlier Schattenjagers of the Ritter family. That could be one hell of a game.

I agree, the scope of the GK games is vast (good luck with your project). And a spin-off didn't occur to me yet, but that is a great idea!

;D ok, forget I ever said anything. They can throw one hell of a dance event in there however, with such a sound system!

fabtastic BG! concerning the far wall: those two airduct covers look more like speakers this way (or are they?). I'd expect airduct covers to be horizontal (instead of the upright version you have here), up against the ceiling. But maybe I'm just anal, I don't know :)
Great artwork!

I just surfed onto the Adventure Collective and saw this interview with Jane Jensen:
http://www.adventurecollective.com/interviews/interview-janejensen2003.htm

She talks about a new, rather secretive project, currently named Jane-J, which appearently will be a Mystery-Thriller in the GK sense...
Maybe this is all too good to be true, but I sure feel excited about this... ;D
What do you think?

Exciting! however, it doesn't sound like the eagerly awaited GK4 ... which is a shame, as I really like the GK series. I guess we'll just have to go and make ourselves some GK fan games then :)

That is true (I just remembered) - exporting to OBJ file makes it one grouped object without any textures. That has to be done by hand, which is a bit of a bother.

If you're comfy with 3D, why don't you export the bike and rider to 3d studio format, and animate the whole shot in that? I've tried animation in Poser, and it's a pain in the nether regions :)

Aussie gets my vote, very clean picture, nice and to the point (pun intended).

I took out the light brown from the hair. I still don't see why her eye looks unnatural, but maybe without the light brown/white people'll stop thinking it's part of her eye. I still liked the shine, but I like it this way too.

I liked the shine on her hair as well, but it was very white, maybe if you'd use a very pale brown or yellow (like the highlights on her arms) it might work better.

This reminds me somewhat of the 'Go, Johnny - Go, Go, Go, Go' sketch from Teh League of Gentlemen.

Just felt that I'd share that with you all.

Darn! that's exactly what I was going to mention ... great game though! ;)

You know what would be sort-of-nice-and-at-the-same-time-very-damn-difficult-to-impliment? Multiplayer support. Imagine: a point-n-click adventure for multiple players. Coop or working against each other. It might work (it might also suck, I don't know) :)

Nice artwork, Pesty! I really like her face. What game is she going to be in? didn't know you were making a game at all??

Last time I checked (20 minutes ago) AD wasn't online - www.adventuredevelopers.com simply links back to mix-'n-mojo. However, they have a list with "survivor" websites, and AD is one of them. What this "survivor" means, is not completely clear however.

The look of the sprites and the game you describe remind me a lot of Rocket Ranger ... aaah! the games of yesteryear ... yestermillenium I mean ... [melts into a pathetic puddle of nostalgia]

that's ok netgraph, my awesome image does that, don't worry though soon you'll be jumping into the world of amazing in your face 3d just like i am

just remember these rules:

1.) Bump Map EVERYTHING, it doesn't matter what it is and it doesn't matter what the bump map is just do it!

2.) Make everything shiny... like really shiny, like the world was made out of ceramic

3.) Never use less than 2 million polygons. The more polygons the more in your face the 3d is.

4.) If you've already made it shiny and you've already added a bump map? Why not go ahead and make it reflective?

5.) THERE ARE NO RULES! LOLOLOLO LOLLERZ!!11!

just follow these rules especially rule 5!! LOL and pretty soon everyone around you will be all like "Woah! What the heck is this that's all up in my face?" and you can smile and be like "That's my 3d dude... that's my 3d"

Mr. Colozal! Y0u f0rg3ttin the Biggest Rule of All!:

6.) TEH LENSFLAER!!!11!!!!1!!!!1 - IT ROXXORZ!!!1!!!!!! LOOK:

(oh dear, sure hope this is not going to get me banned ...  ;) )
