That does amuse me. I will now find a women to copulate with, remove my child from the women, wait a bit, and then play Fatman with him. If he doesn't laugh, I will cast him away, repeat the above steps, until I find a worthy child. I will tape his laughter, and then send it to you as a holiday gift. To which you'll return with a gift of a sequel. Everyone will rejoice.

I remember when I first got here, back on ezboards, I used to end every post with some sort of "funny" tag line. This was actually fairly easy at first, because I wasn't absorbed into the community as much until after I completed Ace Quest, so I didn't post a lot. After a while I dropped that habit, because I was spending more time thinking of a funny things to put at the end of the post, rather than what to put in the middle of post. I'm afraid to look that far back and read some of the tag-lines, though, for fear that I was probably not as funny as I thought I was.

I'd like to say, though, looking back, yeah, there are obviously differences between now and seven and a half years ago. However, I think the core of my personality is much the same. In some ways I think this forum has grounded me in a way the real world isn't able to. I've gone through many of life's milestones during my tenure here at AGS. From graduating high school, to going to college, to graduating college, to getting a job, and all things in between. The whole time AGS was in the background of my life, always present.

There are things in old posts that I might cringe at, and things I'd respond to in a completely different manner. However, I think the best way to be introspective, is to examine how I feel about  how other people in the forum have changed. For the most part I haven't detected a significant change from most of us. That's not to say we're not more mature, we're not (maybe I'm not), but if I liked you before, and you're still around, I still like you, and probably for the same reasons (the sex is still good after all this time).

So in conclusion: Hi, I'm Justin, and I'm still a retard.

Let me take you back to a simpler time. The year was 0. Adam had recently been created, and was fortunate not to have to go through an awkward teenager phase. He lived a free life and was mostly free to do what he wanted. But it was a lonely life, and so after a little while, Adam got the courage to go to God.

"God", he said, "I can't thank you enough for what you've given me, but while I'm grateful, I feel a longing for companionship." Adam waited a moment until the familiar voice of God could be heard through the trees. "Adam. I can make you a women who will do anything, anything at all, that you ask of her. She'll clean the garden for you, make you dinner, be a generous lover, have a great personality and she'll never complain about you once."

Adam was titillated at hearing this, and he responded quickly. "She sounds perfect." "There's just one thing." God said. "It'll cost you an arm and a leg." Adam thought about this for a moment and replied "What can I get for a rib?"

An good example of said infatuation is that girl you masturbate to in the bushes. A good example of love is your significant other pretending to be the girl who you masturbated to in the bushes.

It's a subtle difference, but it's there.

Did I forget to mention how exciting I am. I hope not. Because, I know you're only promising a slow driving force to complete the game, but that's all I need to keep me warm this winter. Good luck with it!

General Discussion / Re: SCRIPTING
Fri 26/12/2008 21:29:40
It's probably made more difficult by the fact that the whole language is kind of thrown right at you. If you have a programming background the AGS scripting language is relatively easy. But without that, there's a lot of information you have to absorb. As with anything the more you do something, the more familiar and easier it will become. You're going to make mistakes, you're going to learn from those mistakes. You'll write sloppy code and go back when you've learned a bit more and realize a better approach to take.

Learn a style and be consistent with it. Comment you code. Don't be afraid of asking questions. Read the manual. Even then, not everyone is wired to be a proficient coder, just like not everyone can be a great artist. But with enough practice you can become a functioning coder. Good luck.

I think in general the term "bad person" implies a lack of caring or concern for people other than yourself. Which happens to be one of the signs of being a sociopath. We have terms like sociopath because of our need to quantify and qualify everything around us. We need to know what causes such destructive behavior in hopes of eventually eradicating it from society.

I think we need a breather, though...the tension is so thick, it feels like elevension. While I agree that iamahauntedhamburger made some bad assumptions and conclusions from your previous posts, in the end, he was simply trying to help you with how he related to his father. The fly by night conclusion that your dad isn't a sociopath seemed, at best, obtuse, considering what lack of information he's had on your life. I think it's safe to say his intentions were not to offend, though.

As to whether or not you should have posted this here. I think it's perfectly healthy and should be encouraged. It's cathartic to talk about our baggage. In life there's very few people that you meet that you get more than a cursory view of their life. Society tells us to keep it to ourselves, everyone has problems, but I think we should be open and honest, and those who want to stay ignorant of your life can do so by simply not reading this thread. Our ability to sway your decision one way or the other is irrelevant. You might make the same decisions when push comes to shove, but maybe you'll have more information as to how to actually handle what you're going to do.

We had cats that did chew wires, but there's a product of some kind you can spray on your wires that cats don't like, so they don't play with it.

I like to give them human names like "Steve", something that's one or two syllables. It's not creative, I know...but I'm waiting to name my children cat names so that there's an equilibrium.

Ultimately, this is something you'll figure out for yourself. My take on it is that you should not go to see your father. Chances are likely that you'll leave there dissatisfied with the results. I'm not sure which is worse, the lingering doubt that you should have tried, or the bad memory invoked if you actually try to make amends with your father.

I really don't like the "What if you don't try?" response people tend to have in these situations. You can put more stock in yourself, as far as I'm concerned, if you're intelligent enough to see the end result, and decide it's not worth it. Your father sounds like a miserable human being, and I wouldn't give him the luxury of your time. If he has a glimmer of good in him, than he'll be the one to try to make amends.

This just sounds like a situation where you prepare for the worst and hope for the worst. Because even if your dad seems forgiving, you might not want to be sucked into his life again. People rarely change. As I can't really relate to this, though...my opinion only means so much in this issue.

You're fan art has been cleared for entrance into the website. Congratulations, you're in an elite club. Your friends might feign disinterest when you tell them that's your art, but really they're jealous.

Preferable Size of the banner width(600px) height(75px). The height does not include the menu. If you wanted the menu to be included in your banner the height is around 115px. Also the competition will go a week into December. There is no hard deadline, but I won't be responsive because I'll be visiting my family. Good luck to those of you who wish to participate, and a big thank you will come your way.

So good news. It's competition time! I need a banner for the website. My home page explains it much better than I could ever do here, without repeating what I want verbatim. But essentially, I'd like to supplement the website here or there with a little something called, style. I know, you're worried the content will go the wayside if I start worrying about such things. But I assure you, I'm quite good at multitasking. Especially, since I'm not doing the artwork, YOU might be, though. In lieu of payment, I will give you crazy advertising on the website. The banner will be a link to the winners personal website of their choosing.

Also. Ace Quest 2 (the unfinished game) is now available for download. Try to hold back your excitement. Meanwhile, I'll be going home for Thanksgiving, so think of this as a nice little present to get you through the week.

Mods - It's by far the best piece of music I've put to computer. It's epileptic style matches the original game fairly well. Of course, the tune will haunt you for the rest of your life. Or at least until you turn the speakers off.

Update (read the first post).

ProgZmax - You have prime fan art space now, luck you.

Dualnames - I'm not yet ready to start working with music in the game. When I'm ready to get some backgrounds and other graphic related things with the game, I'll keep you in mind. I'm not sure, yet, what I want to go for musically, since I think that's something that needs to be paired with the graphics. If you want to fiddle around and make "Variations on an Ace Quest Theme", so I can get a feel for your breadth as a composer, by all means fiddle away.

Original Ace Quest Theme

The whole new game is not going to have that music. It's annoying. But I do want a few hints of some of the older "hits" in the new game.

General Discussion / Re: Skepticism

I think anyone who can believe, without a doubt, that every word that is in the Bible is true, is, and I'm holding back here, an idiot. I also think, that anyone who can believe, without a doubt, that there is no god, is an idiot, too.

Life it far too short for us to deal in absolutes. I prefer to hang my beliefs in limbo. That's not to say I don't think about the great questions. I just find, that my mind generally takes me to the conclusion that I don't have the answer or the ability to obtain the answer. As that's the case, I don't completely discount any belief, but I do use rational thought to guide me to probable answers to life's questions.

I think people are entitled to their beliefs, but to say without a doubt you know something, one way or the other, seems arrogant. We're allowed to have beliefs, and have strong convictions, but I think we always must reassess our core beliefs. We must be able to answer why we believe in something, and not be offended when our beliefs are questioned.

I think this is what Nacho is trying to get at. He can't understand someone who believes in something without question. I find it scary that anyone can do that.

I love that picture, ProgZmax, and I want your permission to put it up on the site in it's own fan made art section. I promise it will be on the top of that sections page, mostly because it's the only fan art in existence.

If you haven't been to my website recently, and by looking at my web statistics, YOU haven't. We've supplemented our site with some goodies. Or one goody, but it's worth your time. Or, it's at least worth my time. Check it out. I promise the website doesn't bite.

Ace Quest

I also, want to thank AGA for testing the new section. So I'm not prepared to respond if it doesn't work. That's how much confidence I have in AGA.
