Occassionally, I've had my ISP banned, usually the ban only lasts a week or two. If it doesn't stop in a couple of weeks, then I guess you're screwed.

I had a ban two weeks ago, and the next day I was able to get on. And before that, I hadn't tried to go on #ags for a month maybe.

Wonderfully fun game! I thought the graphics were consistent. The dialog keeps getting better and better. I like how you've kind of made a bridge to future Ben Jordans. And leave us with a lingering question. The music was superb and matched the backgrounds and the mood in the game very well. There really isn't too much to complain about...but I'll try my hardest.

I found that clicking the sherrif when he was dead, didn't correlate to where he actually was. I clicked around him, figuring I'd get something from him, and gave up and wandered about. Only to become frustrated after going through all rooms several times, and finding out on the forums that I could touch the sherrif.  Really that's the only complaint I had.

I think the non-inventory based puzzles worked very well in the game, mainly because of lack of many hotspots. The few that were there were enough to fill the game out with the important details, and a few non-important ones. So, in this case, I think the bareness of the hotspots worked well, even though I usually advocate for tons of hotspots.

Also loved the Indiana Jones line you threw in there "That was my fathers name." That got me laughing a bit. It was a very fun game!

No, you're not boring us...but it might have been better if you had just put this link on your thread in the Completed Games section. But congradulations, in any event.

I downloaded your game several days ago, on another computer, so I have to wait a few weeks before I can get into it. But it looks like it will be highly entertaining.

Everything goes in cycles. You'll generally find that a lot of the old members, as you call it, are busier this time of year, and haven't played many of the games that have been comming out. I guess the only thing to do is wait it out, or if you've waited days upon days to progress in a game, contact the author of said game.

If I'd do anything to that video is make the text more readable. I had to pause it to read it.

As far as blood, if you want it spilling out, that's not to bad. It's when it gushes out people usually start feeling squemish.

The second day of Chanukah has come!

As far as religion is concerned, why not just agree to disagree? People have been arguing about it for thousands of years, I'm fairly certain we won't come to a ground breaking conclusion. Nor is anything said on either side going to convince anyone that their side will be wrong.

I could pass witty comebacks all day about what I actually think of the Bible. But I think it's better to just accept that my beliefs are different from you beliefs, and that way no one is offended, and no one feels attacked.

I've got most of my old games working on XP with less hasle than 98. I had ME for two weeks, but it had too many bugs for me to enjoy it. So I degraded to 2000, and upgraded to Xp when it came out. The first thing I did after setting up XP was to make sure my Space Quest games would work. They do.

I too will go against the majority. While a well designed game should have no need of a walkthrough, or rather, the player should never feel a tendency to use a walkthrough. This is an amatuer community. Not that there haven't been some great games to come out of this community. Most poeple here are creating a game on their own free time, and can't spend all day making the perfect game. They also, most likely, don't have a team of testers that complain when something is difficult, so that they can't or don't go back and change a hard puzzle.

What I'm basically saying, is that some puzzles that make sense to the one creator of a game, might not make sense to the general majority. And while people are able to ask and recieve hints, it's much easier to provide a walkthrough. You might argue that when one presents a walkthrough, some might become too dependant on it, and their enjoyment of the game might be depreciated. While this may be true, some of us don't have gobs of time to spend playing games. From a personal standpoint, if I'm playing a game, and it doesn't look like I can go anywhere (and the game's atmosphere isn't enough to keep me playing), then I'll probably stop playing and never touch the game again. Not that I won't spend time looking for the solution of a puzzle but if I don't come upon a solution and feel movement in the story, I don't have any motivation to play.

When I am given a walkthrough, I am more prone to finish a game and still enjoy it. I just don't have to time to spend trying everything out. And there get's a point in a game, where it's not so much figuring out a puzzle as it is just clicking the mouse, and hoping you get lucky with Object A and Hotspot B. Anyway, if people don't like walkthroughs, then they are free not to use the resource. That said, you could probably wait a week or two before releasing a walkthrough, giving people who want to beat the game without the lure of the walkthrough a window of opportunity in which they can play the game on their own.

So yes Walkthroughs are good.

I think my games pretty much fall into the same category, especially Ace Quest, of hate/love. Personally, I love my games, I think I could do better, given the time and motivation (which currently I'm lacking both), but I usually get a few people who like my games, which is all I need. And the reviews on my game, aren't so bad, so I'm content.

My hair is dark and curly, and grows out. So I get tall hair before long hair. When it's long it's curly, and bouncy, and I find a lot of people want to touch it (my "friends" usually just throw things as it, since my hair is so bouncy). When I get it cut, I get about finger length. And I like both about the same. My hair grows fast though, and I need a haircut about every 2-3 months. It's easy to maintain either way. Wash it everyday, and when it's long, it's curly, so I don't have to brush it.

When I play Minesweeper, I go through bigginer to expert. Where I set up several rules that mandate a victory or loss. If I lose before taking out ten percent of the bombs then it's just a draw ( So beg = 1, int= 4, exp=10), and I play again. This is because you can be prone to start in bad place, where it's simply a matter of guesswork to go further. If I get to a point where there's only ten percent of the bombs left, and I make a mistake, I consider it  a victory. If I get anywhere in between there it's a loss. This helps to eleviate my pain when situations above happen. If I lose, I usually just go on to Freecell, which I am equally addicted to.

So let's talk about strategies. I don't play for time, as I'm usually multi-tasking while playing mine sweepers, and usually get distracted and come back when the clocks run out. But I am prone to start at a corner, usually top left, work my way to the right side and then down and over, and get anything missed. Most of the times I lose, it's just me clicking and missing the square. My win rate is about 90% using the system above. And even then, I'd say the majority of that is a real victory, where all bombs are located.

I switch back and forth between my addiction to Minesweeper and Freecell. There both games based on logic.

As far as poor programming. Its a free application, and I can't immagine how difficult it would be to program the game with an algorithm that  gets rid of guesses. I'd say about 30% of solving minesweepers, is educated guess work, anyway.

I prefer maps, they make travel faster, and don't take me out of the game too much. Now you don't have to map every room just a main room that may branch out to other rooms.

Also, a nice convention, is the double click, where upon double clicking at an exit you are immediatly rewarded by entering the next screen. It's just a measure that speeds things up.

People play this games to get away from the hum-drum of life, and having to go through every room is monotonous. This is mainly an issue, for when you get legitimate ideas for a solution of a puzzle, take five minutes to walk there, only to find out the creatory weren't thinking in that light.

But if you feel it will ruin your mood, or you have a short game, do what you want.

But when it comes down to it, you can't really please everyone. Some people like timed puzzles some don't. I think arcade sequences should have a skip-me button for those who don't enjoy them. But a good timed puzzle isn't bad, as long as the game isn't inflated with it (barring games where the whole intent it to make you feel the pressure of time).

What's wrong with a timed puzzle? It's still a puzzle, which is what adventure games are intended for. And as such, it still requires thought, and it's purpose isn't so much action based. Anyway, there are several games which used timed puzzles/arcade sequences in there games.
