Nice podcast gents.
I think often that swearing and other vulgar stuff is just jarring and pulls me out of the game when it's overdone. More often than not it seems so forced, light sprinkles of this stuff is plenty I don't play games to be shocked I do it for fun.

What happened to our IRC? Couldn't get club Galen to work.. Are we doing this today over there?

This needs a BUMP!
Thanks for the podcast :)
So Grundi, you did the most the art for A Golden Wake? I thought Ben was involved.. If I don't have twitter does it mean I don't get to see any WIP's from Po-Dicky?

Your totally right, Mods. We just need to make it happen this year, then perhaps a proper committee can be formed for next year with something to build on and improve. You and whomever else is helping out deserve credit :)  I wish I had a clue about this stuff, I'd probably try to help...

General Discussion / Re: Load vs. Restore
Tue 02/02/2016 15:00:14
I might be wrong here, but I think Restore is a product of the old consol games. In those games if you died your game would be "restored" to a position at the start of the level. The game gets restored to a previous state, load makes more sense to me if there is an actual save game system.

The only thing other than another Death Star that bugged me was the way Finn somehow could just pick up a light-saber and hold his own against a Sith in a duel ??? What the heck? Do storm troopers get fencing lessons? or did Kylo just never any ???
Enjoyed how gritty and, like said earlier, non-plasticy the feel of it was.. that was probably the can't put my finger on it missing element from the pre-quels (that btw I didn't hate to death, just a little sad at times with disappointment)

General Discussion / Re: I give up

AGS is a very special thing. It has opened the door for so many arm-chair programmers and artist to express themselves and create all sorts of great things. We know Chris Jones started this, but look how the level of quality has rose the last few years, it's outstanding! I don't think for a minute that all the activity in the recent years would have been if the engine was not being supported and developed. So hats off to all those involved in the success of the AGS community!
I can only imagine how tricky it would be to build on and clean up the existing code, so your analogy of trying to make a door with your head is probably spot on  (laugh) but no one can fault you for trial and error along the way. Take a break, play some games as Mandle suggested, take pride in what you've done and pass the baton if like.

I've in the past made it so if you click on "nothing" you auto walk to that spot without a cursor change, this relies on an action-bar and reasonably sized hotspots to work, it seemed to work really well and is my prefered system with multiple verbs.

I believe you lose a layer of depth and exploration when you go to two-click, but I'm old-school I guess. Just because everyone else is going BASS doesn't mean you have to if you want a good game, I suggest asking your playtest team if they think the game would better suit that style.
