That aside, another smashing episode with some thought-provoking discussions :) Always fun to hear from Dave.
Agreed, Dave is great...
Spoiler
But still waiting patiently for the Icey interview  :P

I am a little surprised at the zeal you have for your opinion too, Snarky.
Although I'd rather stay neutral on the matter There's a few commonly known facts at play here.
1) War is good for the US economy
2) War gets the citizen buy in to increase the national debt via such spending
3) Going to war historically = a second presidential term
4) The US would prefer to control global natural resources than deplete their own.
Therefore, the powers that be don't mind going to war very much. We live in a corrupt world. I know there are other factors at play, but don't be blind to the reality.
I apologize if my opinion offends anyone.

Facedirection is meant to change the character loop, to select one of the existing loops and set up for an animation. Not meant to create loops.

Wows, it looks like you have some pretty complex systems going on there 8-0 are you using AGS? Are you on code-enhancing drugs ???
Once I realized that the Iceyverse OSD was so serious my outrage inspired me to make an OSD game of my own. The force must be balanced so my OSD must fight the powers of your universe.  I hope you understand, it's all business.
How much DLC will this game have? I need to know. My game must have double your DLC...

QuoteKeep in mind, the Dennis you see isn't the normal Dennis but the Dennis from another dimension. He doesn't really know Ray.
Well, if he's mot sweet like Dennis, then he should be Dave.
Not to offend, mr. icey, but this breaks my heart a little... I expect shenanigans!
OSD games don't have to be sub-par, but it helps.

What does the black gem do??!
Its the key to Life Partner Ray's mojo.
He had better be in this game, it's looking way to serious for a true OSD game ICEY!

I like the subtle message in your billboard.

do you mean the text or the single white pixel between the legs? (roll)
oh dear. Yes, there is a pixel... I hope this restaurant doesn't have any children areas....  (wrong)

I like the subtle message in your billboard.
Please have lots of billboards  :)

Avast has been driving me nuts lately too. I have to turn it off to compile / run my game too.

I say look into the Pirates! fighting system style like CaptainD mentioned has my vote, easy for tablets too.
Use mouse clicks:
Click high, mid or low on the opponent for an attack
Click ground behind you to step back, ahead to go foreword.
Click yourself to block high, mid, low.
Click objects in background, if near them, to pick them up (Hit him with the Vase, Indy!)
I think it would be fun, in that it is a change up from the original and the single click and mouse controls suck you in. I built something sorta like this for my current project, it got pretty good feedback and I enjoy playing it myself still too.

Glad to see you guys are still plugging away ;-D I noticed your not humouring us with a abstract percentage of completeness (wrong)

I wouldn't mind having no fighting system at all, as those parts weren't necessarily the best in the Indy games. Much rather I would like to see more great puzzles. :)
Mmmmm, yes lots of puzzles but gotta have the fight scenes! they're always skippable anyways... I'm gonna go bump the fight system thread  (laugh)

Monsieur's version is more aesthetically pleasing, but I like the way Mad's head (centre sprite) is unusual and unique to the character.
#255
try checking (cEgo.Frame == 0 || cEgo.Frame > 2) before allowing input for another strike.. or adjust the 2 to what feels best after testing.
#256
If it were full of hot coffee it would scary as heck :)
#257
Wow, I'm surprised that actually works.
I would use the hotspot number or (more neatly) a pointer... but if it works with a String, party on ;)
Quote
After he probably added a new global variable String called 'myHotspot'
I can make pretty good guesses too, Vincent, but probably doesn't hold much water when trying to help with scripting.
I know your only being helpful, sorry I let this get me upset.  :)
#258
Looks great! When are we going to get an update on this game? Anticipation is killing us 8-0

is myHotspot a String, Int or a Pointer  ??? ??? ???

Should not be that hard to guess :D
Formerly known as global function GetLocationName,
static String Game.GetLocationName(int x, int y)
I asked this question because if he made it a String (which he keeps a close secret) myHotspot = Hotspot.GetAtScreenXY(mouse.x, mouse.y);  will make no sense, myHotspot would have to be a Hotspot pointer.
ie:
Code: ags
Hotspot *myHotspot;
myHotspot = Hotspot.GetAtScreenXY(mouse.x, mouse.y);
String myString;
myString = myHotspot.Name;

Vincent your only encouraging bad behaviour, Should not be that hard to guess :D ....

Please explain what you are trying to accomplish, then someone could help you quite easily I'm sure.
