At 32, am I getting to old to make adventure games ?? :~(
Or perhaps I should just get on with it and draw a young looking avatar, and with all that young avatar energy pump out the greatest game to rock your socks since you watched the Sammy's Quest tutorials in slo-motion in your Mom's basement!
(I am sorry that old lame people have nothing to add to threads.)

I didn't realise you were paying, Slasher?? Besides, we all know that Icey is really just an alias for CJ ... there is a reason we haven't heard from Pumaman in a while ;) Anyhow, I would be very disappointed if this thread went away (or if Icey changed his ways). I'm addicted to Icey news, kinda like how I sometimes slow down at the scene of a car crash...

IMHO the formula should come from MI. In each chapter reveal three fairly clear goals, allow the player to roam about these 3 paths. This way if stuck on a certain puzzle (no need to eliminate tough puzzles here)they can consciously switch over to another goal and set of puzzles. The story moves ahead in a linear path, but the player is given enough freedom to stay engaged. Part of my theory on what makes a great adventure game, anyone agree?

Did you just give me a virus.. you tramp! ;)
I opened one and was like wow did he draw this, but then maybe not so much.

Yah, I'm working on a re-release. It was a mags game. The Eye is almost useless, grab works on thing you can grab and the power action will become more useful as you acquire more crystals. Attack and Push are your most useful actions. I had alot of plans for this game but I probably could have used another month to work them in! :) hope you try it again (push the snowballs), and enjoy the rest of the game.

Happy Birthday MiteWiseacreLives! How are you and your son? How's Crankosaurus Prime doing?
I'm getting oldish, he's still young... Thanks for asking about Crankosaurus :) working away at refining it and completing the last chapter, a version 2.0 of sorts.

Full time retail manager.
Probably in the same sub-category as you Eggie.

I am not sure it this is the right spot for editor suggestions.. But, I would like to see the "Import Sprite" window become adjustable in size. Sometimes when trying to grab larger than the window sprites, I have to monkey around a fair bit. Anyone else agree?

I can do an impression of an average male in his thirties. Does that help  :P
#614
OK that was WAY better than Calin's. Now just point to the spot on the doll where Aiden Lovekamp touched you.
#615
I don't think there is room for Everyone on this forum who can do a spot on Aiden Lovekamp impression, in your game.
QuoteHi, I'm Aiden Lovekamp.
Totally like I'm in the room with Aiden Lovekamp. Very good, Calin. (nod)

QuoteMedieval settings is a perhaps for me, but I'm not convinced. There's something about pirates that worked in Monkey Island, but I can't place a darn finger on it,
My thoughts, Pirates work because of the potential for characters. You can imagine all sorts of over the top personalities. Also the fantasy of exploration, children are fascinated with pirates because there is an entire world that's nearly entirely from folklore and imagination (how much do we know about pirates? really? the factual stuff is horrific.).
Medieval setting is a great idea too, I personally kind of long for more of this. Try playing 'Tale of Two Kingdoms', it is constantly downloaded and its carefully thought out puzzles each with multiple solutions are terrific. That game is an AGS benchmark as far as I'm concerned, bear in mind I have not nearly played all the games released on this site.

If I may ask one narcisitic question, was anyone able to play through Crankosaurus? It def had a couple issues.
#618
Wow, yah some very nicely polished games here. Well Crankoskaur wasn't polished, but thanks for the vote! My ambitions kinda overwhelmed my ability, but it was fun.
#619
What does the time frame look like for voting? I have been bracing myself for heartbreak for days now.

Now that I think of it, I can remember when we were fazing out milk in bags at the grocery store. Customers were totally angry, Canadian angry not normal angry. The coffee was a very wise decision, I don't think Timbits would travel as safely (neither the doughnuts nor the little kids).
