Heh, pretty sure I posted this, but I guess I hit preview & left it hanging...oops.  Well here's what I've been working on so far:

And more recently, you can actually start to make out the underneath of the stairs:

Lemme know what you think Eric, am I heading in the right direction or am I lost in the sea of smudginess?

Looks really promising! Only suggestion I have is to change the name to just The Pale Flame :p.

Aww, you don't like Flakky?  He's the star you know...got a 5 million dollar contract, said he had to be in the title...my hands are tied...

Shouldn't be too hard.  What you'll probably want to do is create the intro like Quest for Glory where the character is presented with the three(or however many) characters to choose from.

Upon choosing you set the player to that character for example.  Using a different value for each character, you will have to program all different interactions throughout the game for each one.

It's the same as having all three games seperately but you're not doing that, you doing it all in one.  It's not that complex really, I have done it with RPG's.

So there you go....as for actual scripting, there's probably more than one way to do it & no way is better than the other.   My advice on designing it for one character, don't.  Design it for all three, plan ahead, and make sure you know how your script/game(by script I mean dialogues etc) is going to flow before you jump in to code it all.  You don't have to, that's just how I'd do it.

Just make sure you use clean code & comment everything, use tons of spacing(whitespace) to make it clean and readable.  That way, you could share it with others later.  Does this help you at all?

Ah thank you thank you! Your eyes are smarter than mine, I searched and searched & never saw it.  Thanks again! ^^

I must scratch my head in confusion at this.... *checking the year*...ok...just wanted to be sure.  This is odd indeed, I'm still staring at the front page.

Redhat 9 was too slow for me, a nightmare.  Mandrake 9.1 just made me want to shoot it.  I'm using Slackware now.

I 'WAS' going to give you a link to a most fabulous forum run by a guy I know...but apparently he's too busy with thebroken.org so he shut em down.  Sorry :(

If I find an equally good link for 'nix stuff I'll pass it along.

I listen to:

Tourniquet, Megadeth, Metallica(duh), & Iron Maiden mostly.  If I need inspiration for something different whence writing music I listen to the latest Satriani disc(Strange Beautiful Music).

I've got a version of Moslo, not sure which one it is.  Get it here:
MoSlo

NOTE: Oh yah, & if this is legal or not I have no idea as well.  If someone discovers that it isn't, I'll remove the link. Cheers! ^^

Hey I'd be happy to put your game on my webspace.  If I had a condition it'd only be that you should link to the downloads page & not the file directly.  That way, I could maybe get more visitors.

My server is always up also, & I don't have any rules/limits yadda yadda.  Downloads may not be the fastest, that's another consideration for you cuz it's a cable connection. Well it's up to you, peace!
^^

EDIT:
If you just want to host an adventure game(like a download mirror) or even a small webpage(5-50mb is a good size), I'm more than willing to help out.

The problem with meeting around here is that people don't meet in South Dakota, unless they're already here....people just don't come to South Dakota(unless they want to see the Black Hills).

When I was back in California to see my friends last summer, we went to this little piece of fun called The Block(it's in Orange County see).  There were probably a couple hundred people there, and he made a funny little joke about how all of South Dakota was here & how I should feel at home.  ^^!!

Hey Eric I cannot tell you how helpful your tutorial was, just reading through it.  For one, I never thought to rotate my image for the purpose of making things easier on me...heh.  Also, I don't have a tablet but will probably invest in one as I'm better with a pencil than a mouse.  The mouse NEVER goes in the direction I tell it to.  :) Grr @ mousey.

To Eric: Goes without saying now anyway  ;D

Ok so I made my own DisplayMessage GUI(it's got the cups in it & a dark-purple background).  Ok so first of all, how exactly do I place a different object than the cups in it?  Yah I did edit the background image of the object already, but that's not what I really am after(though it looks alright).  What I do want, is a pattern for the background that will expand when the message does.

Example:
I put a background in the middle, and it displayed in the top-left corner and I couldn't see very much of it cuz the message was small.  Then, after I made a larger message, it was the same size, yet I could see all of it & some blank space of dark-purple background.

So what am I missing?  I scanned through the manual quite awhile & couldn't find the solution.  Did I miss it? Thanks for your help!

EDIT: Also, I am capable of doing it in a script if need be, thanks.

Try downloading it again... I think I was accessing it or something, so maybe that was the problem?

Hey Pau.  Keen means, that he likes it.  When he says he's not keen with the door, it means that there's something about it that he doesn't like.   As for what that is, he has to elaborate more for you to understand(or for me too).  So I hope that helps.

I really like your background too.  What I think is strange, is how perfect the beds look.  To me, they're just too perfectly made.  Maybe you have a very expensive housekeeper? :)

On the door closest to the viewer, doesn't the door latch seem too high up? Maybe it's not, I'm just not sure.  Everything else looks great to me! If I were an adventure, I'd really enjoy being in your background.

Well I hope I'm not too late.  If I am, that's ok.  Also, this is an mp3 so if I broke the rules it's cuz I didn't see if that was ok or not.  Nextly, it's not piano or midi, well I have a guitar here so.  It's kinda catchy, I think. Maybe not game material...I'd use it in an action cartoon or something. Peace!
