Messages - Mould Cheeze

#21
There are also a few Maniac Mansion fangames. Some of them are really good.
Unfortunately there are only 7 out of over 50 episodes translated into Englsih cause it's originally a German series.
http://www.maniac-mansion-mania.de/international/
But I'm hopeful more games will be translated soon!

Yeah (he answered, very late), 3.1 had more of a "spray" effect
Yeah! In 3.1 it wasnt called paint but it was called PAINTBRUSH!
MsPaint sucks a lot but MS PAiNTBRUSH rules it all.
Hope I'll find a Windows 3.11 soon to work with PAINTBRUSH (sic!) again!

You have to ask Dave in the cellar for the money.

@rubacant Ok, here is some critics. I took one of your pictures as an example
Red sourended areas are thing that shouldnt mould, neither metal nor glas moulds.
Purple Areas are things that should mould. The plants wouldnt resist the mould. The wooden table and the picture wouldnt either.
Red arrow shows how mould could look like, its not perfect because i dont want to take over your work. but better than those arbitrary spreaded dots.
Blue arrow shows the black line which is the corner of the room. where is that black line on the left side?
Green arrow shows the toeboard. The toeboard should also be on the side walls.
Blue surrounded area shows wooden bars. Dont just use a wood texture. Noone will notice that this is wood. But if you still want to use wooden texture the texture on the side walls would be diagonal and not as even as on the back wall.

Edit: If you improved your Background , please post it here to show that you are able of taking critism.

is this any better
I see no difference. The floor still looks.wird. The picture still has no outline. And the statue's position is still impossible.

Look at this!!  This looks like a textured back ground
Its not textured,its tiled.This is a difference.

Im tired now. I go to bed.

Ok, then you can internalize my tipps on how to improve your backgrounds for those two years.
Wish you have enough motivation and stamina to make it better.

Ok mabey i will stop this maniac mansion game  what do you think
Its your decision.
I just say: Improving your backgounds will take a couple of days. But scripting a bug-free game that is longer than maniac mansion will take you over a year.

Quotewhat your acting like your 10
In the posts you quoted I just gave my critics. What has this to do about my age.
I mean why did you post your pics in critics lounge if you dont want critics? Maybe you are some kind of multiple personality ???

Ok, I'm new to AGS forums. But i know more about AGS than you. When i look at you posts, i found out that you dont even now what an integer is.
That is so ridicolous  ;D
how do you want to make a game without an integer?

Will you stop being an asshole?

Thank you.
Lol, what the fuck?! Ok, i was bad to him in my first post.
But then I tried to help him but he still legitimates his bad-looking backgrounds. There is a great difference between "maniac" and "shit".

AnyWay this is MANIAC MANSION  dose it have to look normal.
You call this maniac mansion? This is a shame for maniac mansion. If Ron Gilbert would have seen this he would have jumped out of the window.
The old MM looks weird but it doesnt look crappy. thats a difference.

Dose it look to busy
In one word: YES!!!
The floor is very strangely lightened. The right picture doesnt have an outline. The statue is "in the wall".
And some other details which i am not likely to count them all because its too much.

How do you do gradients with paint shop pro

Like this. Any way you should edit the gradient afterwards with an antique mosaique.

I kinda like the wood texture i used
Well, it doesnt really look like wood. maybe you should draw some wooden bars. If your walls are really made of wood, the tree had to be around 20 meters of Perimeter  ;D

Any way Edisons Look weird any way
Ok, youre right. I turn a blind eye ;)

edit: you used lucasfan-style backgrounds and your-own-style backgrounds . that doesnt fit together. decide for ONE style.
#36
Ok, then i can dissect your background ;D
this is how you could improve your background:
-Dont use texture for the walls. Use gradients. Look at Lucasfan's Deluxe screens he used gradients.
-the left and the middle doors dont have gradients, they are "plain style". look at the right door, there is a gradient. also attach gradients like this to the other doors.
-whats that black points on the floor, some kind of ash or soil?
-Terry chin is in an right angle, this look a bit strange
#37
Then why dont you post one of your bgs in full size??
#38
at first, sorry, i didnt want to insult rubacant

QuoteThink about Maniac Mansion Mania. That's a project that actually lives from people reusing the same graphics over and over again in order to "keep a style" and have some templates.
It the same as here, the developers of MMM also use the furniture of original MM instead of creating their own ones. Thats not very creative.

I want to do the Old MM style and not DOTT
I didnt want you to make the game in Dott style. What i meant was that the Maniac Mansion style is so easy to rebuild that you dont have to rip furniture from original MM. Dott style is much more difficult to rebuild.

So here are my tipps how to improve:
- make your own furniture
- make complete walk-cycles for your chars not just 2 views for each.
- visit a real mansion to get some inspiration
- play maniac mansion again and feel the atmsophere and attach it to your background. your present bgs doesnt have that atmosphere

@Rubacant
The screens don't really look good. You just ripped off the original graphics, changed some of them and threw them together. As far as I see the furnituure is all copied from the mansion, nothing creative in particular.
The rooms doesnt fit to the style of the original mansion. Seams like you never saw a real mansion from the inside.
It doesnt have anything of the ambient of a real mansion.
The backgrounds look like they were done by a blind man.

this looks like it could be Maniac Mansion Deluxe Deluxe (as in with cool additions!)
You cant be serious :o
Maniac Mansion Deluxe is called Deluxe, because the original game was improved. I dont see any improvement in his screens.
