You who played Jimmy the troublemaker will probably recognize this

I was never really satisfied with those cave screens. You might even say I hated them :D and I'd like to improve them if i decide to have a cave area in JTT2. The problem is...I have no idea what I should do...The ground area looks ok I guess...but the walls...I never liked them but I couldn't do anything better either. (I know the color is a little wrong maybe)

So...If someone would like to show me an example what to do with the walls I'd be most grateful. I guess that the style I'm using doesn't leave much room for detailed stuff. I like it simple and clean and if the stonewalls suddenly had lots of details it would not fit the rest of the graphics. Oh well. All help will be most appreciated :D

I just had a thought (hooray first time ever) ;) Do you protect the music you make for games so that no dishonest person would steal your songs, or do you mostly think "Ah it's just some game music I don't really care"? I'm doing all the music for Jimmy the troublemaker 2 as well and started thinking about it. There's probably no way a radio station or whatever would play that kind of music so protecting those songs might not be necessary. Or is it only necessary if you were to release the songs as a soundtrack? What are your thoughts about that?

I've encountered something annoying.
When a room loads where I have both a song playing AND a looping soundeffect in the background it takes a few seconds before it starts playing. the music and sound starts and pauses several times before they play normally. Any idea why that's happening?
thanks in advance!

Thought I should share this with all metalheads here. It's only a short 2 songs demo but more material will come soon :)

Ok It sure took some noodlescratching but I just felt like this sequel had no major improvments when it comes to graphics and even though graphics aren't the most important thing I felt that if Jimmy the troublemaker is gonna return, everything should be better (I know some puzzles etc in the first sucked pretty bad) I've learned a lot more about making graphics since that first abomination and even though JTT2 was almost finished I just scrapped everything to present you with

THIS...

this is how Jimmy the troublemaker 2 - A little older, a little...wiser? will look :) It will take a little more time before you can play it of course but I think it will be worth it. The game itself has a little changed story. Instead of going back to the place you were in the first game it will now take place in a brand new world called Agimore (working world name for now, might change that) Jimmy is being taught a lesson for always being a douche...He is sent to that world where other evil things are happening to once again become an anti-hero. Just like in the first game you spend very little time in your own world before being sent to that new place...although there are more screens this time then just grampas old attic ;) I've saved some ideas from the old version of the sequel...like the karmasystem ...but I renamed it badass points...those will be gained when you do bad stuff...for example, sneaking in to your little sisters room and read her diary etc.

Hope you will like this new style :)

Edit by Darth - I moved the update to this thread (the first post needs to contain the game info)

General Discussion / Leslie Nielsen RIP
Mon 29/11/2010 11:26:02
Ok I didn't know him of course but I must say I felt a little sad when I learned about his death. He died at the age of 84 from complications from pneumonia brought on while battling a staph infection. In my eyes he sure was the king of comedy. I mean...Frank Drebin...just thinking about that character makes me laugh :D I really must have a Naked gun marathon soon. R.I.P. LESLIE NIELSEN

you can read about it here if you want

GRRR I'm going nuts over this. On the introscreen I have disabled the interface because that shouldn't be visible during the credits etc. When the "NEW GAME" and "LOAD GAME" buttons appear, I'm getting problems. This is the script

function room_Load()
{
DisableInterface();
mouse.Visible =false;
gIconbar.Visible =false;
gInventory.Visible =false;
gPanel.Visible =false;
gRestartYN.Visible =false;
gSaveGame.Visible =false;
gRestoreGame.Visible =false;
}

No problems there. This is after the NEW GAME and LOAD GAME buttons appears

EnableInterface();
mouse.Visible =true;
mouse.UseModeGraphic(eModeInteract);
mouse.EnableMode(eModeInteract);

I also have the function for the loadbutton

function oload_Interact()
{
gRestoreGame.Visible =true;
RestoreGameDialog ();
}

I only want the Interact icon to be visible but It's not enabled...can't click on Load game or New game...Unless I set gIconbar to
gIconbar.Visible =true; but if I do that the entire iconbar is visible with all icons etc. I only want the Interact icon to be visible and enabled...Is that possible somehow?
thanks

Here it is!!

It's in a early stage of production and I haven't really made the story yet. The one thing I DO know is that your good points and reputation will make a big difference. If your reputation is bad some people won't share info with you, but on the contrary if you have a good reputation other people will think you're a goody two shoes and won't talk to you because of that. You'll be able to change your points doing various stuff...for example...if you see a bottle on the ground you can recycle it for 1 point...or you can choose to shoot at a window with your soft air gun and lower your points...Well that's my vision and i hope I'll manage to pull it off :D Hope it sounds interesting so far.

Critics' Lounge / A new walkcycle
Wed 17/11/2010 09:37:32
After finishing Jimmy the troublemaker I felt like doing another game so I invented this character and made a walkcycle. I'm not sure I can do it much better. What's your opinion? :)

Yeah like the topic said. I'm taking a break from the point and click games for a while. I've always wanted to do a zelda fan game. I'm doing one right now with the graphics from The legend of Zelda - A link to the past. I have such great memories from that game and I love the graphics. I'm not doing a remake of that particular game of course, I'm doing my own thing with it. Would you like to play a game like that? I really enjoy making it but if there's no interest from people what so ever it feels like a huge waste of time :D

Hi! I'm working on a new game but I always have trouble making the front view match the side view...here's what I've got so far...

PLEEEASE can someone correct this for me? I've been struggling for a while but I just suck :D

Hi! I was wondering if anyone here has encountered the same problem as I have. Sometimes when I try to install my games to the harddrive it starts installing but after 2% completion it stops and says "Can't read disc. It might be dirty etc etc..." So I restart the xbox and the next time it might go to 18% before the same error occurs and after trying a few times it finally gets installed. Any ideas why this keeps happening?

I just tried a dvd lens cleaner. Don't know if this will help though. It starts the game without problems if I play them without installing so I don't know if there's any problems with the DVDreader and when i finally succeed in installing the game to the HD I never get any errors either.

General Discussion / Question about New york
Tue 14/09/2010 11:07:30
Hi! Me and my girlfriend are doing a contest. Everyday in the news paper there's a question about New york and if you get all the questions right you could win a trip there for 2  :) yesterdays question had us a little confused. The question is...roughly translated from swedish... "Through Manhattan and through the state of New york there's an old native american trail which today is a street called...

1. Fifth avenue
X. Broadway
2. Main street

Our money's on Broadway after looking at maps, but we're not sure. And we're not sure if there's a typo in the question either because state and city has almost the same spelling here...Staten = state, Staden = city
Hope anyone knows the answer. Thanks :D

This is the first game I've ever done with AGS...and maybe the last. I've been working on this by myself for 1.5 year and I really hope you'll like this game so the time I've spent on it hasn't been a waste :D

Poor Jimmy is about to have a bad day. His grandfather just passed away and Jimmy arrives to the attic of his grandfathers house to clean it up. He finds a spellbook in a locked chest and Jimmy thinks that magic is just something that belongs in fairy tales. Just to prove how stupid magic is he reads a spell just for fun and is magically transfered to the land of Xandia where the evil witch Josephine has gone mad with power. Will Jimmy save the world or will Josephine reign in terror forever? Why don't you find out?

This is a cartoonadventure set in a fantasyworld. There are some adult material, profanities, a little cartoon nudity stuff, drug use (not by Jimmy though) etc.

The game contains 73 backgrounds and some of the music is made by me and the rest is taken from The games factory. There are quite a lot of different characters to interact with and...ah what the hell...It's an adventuregame, you know the drill. No need for this info :D

Here's the download link as well. Thank you Peder for hosting the game and for some scripting help whenever I needed help :) Feel free to send me a message if you're stuck in the game or if you find any bugs etc. PLEASE PLAY IT!!!! haha

I was just thinking and had to let go off a little steam :D I know I'm not talking for everyone, these are just my thoughts. Why do they make horror games for the PSP and other handheld consoles? Crappy sound from internal speakers. A small damn screen that makes your neck ache. Ok I can understand that younger people who never had a Ps1 or whatever wants to play games like the first Resident evil game, but INMO 50% of the experience is lost if you play it on a DS or PSP

Does the developers really think we will have a terrifying moment with that kind of equipment? Ok I play those games not only for the horror but for the entire adventure, but since it's SUPPOSED to be scary I'd rather play it on a big screen tv with surround sound in the middle of the night :D
I also know it's a good way for the companies to make money on old titles but still...just the idea of having horror games on those things...hehe

Sooo...anyone of you guys have a comment? cheers :)

General Discussion / Acts of gord!
Sat 05/06/2010 18:58:30
I searched for it but didn't find anything on the forums so I thought I'd share this site with all gamefreaks here :D
It's fun to read when you don't have anything to do. It's stories from the owner of a videogame store called Gamer's edge (don't know if it exists anymore) . It's more or less stories about the stupid/retarded customers that comes in every now and then. I kill some time there whenever I'm bored. Just click on "Book of annoyances, Book of wrath" etc. and start reading. Sorry if this already exist in a thread here, but as I said. I didn't find it :)

FINALLY!!! The wait is almost over. I'm so damn hyped for this game. Anyone else who shares this feeling?
Can't wait to ride around, catch people with the lasso and leave them on the railroadtracks ;D and just exploring that huge world for hours. I think this might be Rockstars best game yet (Bully is still first imo) yeah yeah you GTA freaks might disagree with me ;) I used to like the GTA games but GTA IV really was a disappointment I think and Saint's row 2 was much more fun for me. But enough about that. Do you have any thoughts about RDR?

Anyone here who's a fan of this dynamic duo? in europe they were huge back in the 70's but I don't think they where that big in the US? correct me if i'm wrong. I have all their movies they made together and I can't salute them enough for their great work. which is your favourite movie? If I'm gonna mention a few I have to say

They call me Trinity(of course)
They still call me Trinity
Go for it
Crimebusters.

If you're not familiar with these two fellas and like slapstick I suggest you get one of their movies PRONTO!!! :D

Maybe I'm posting in the wrong place but I wasn't sure where to post this. I was just wondering if there are any good thrashsingers here?...with a voice something similar to either James Hetfield or Tom Araya? I have tons and tons of great songs but I need to find a good damn vocalist who could make the songs even better :D Sweden (my country) has many good metalbands but when it comes to thrash it more or less sucks and it's difficult to find a singer like that...believe me I've tried many times :( if anyone's interested and wants to hear the material I'd be happy to share it!

Here's two of all the songs I have (I've got material for 2 full-length albums)It's NOT mixed though so if you have anything to say about the soundquality you know why :)
