This is a non-ags game so that's why I posted here. I have been working on my free-roaming postapocalyptic RPG for hmm...about 8-9 months now and even if I have only scraped the surface of this gigantic project, there's already a couple of hours of gameplay in it I think (If you count the "Must level up a little so I can kill that monster" stuff hehe) you are free to play however the hell you want. Every NPC can be killed and looted. You control how to build your character so there's no automatic upgrade for MAX HP or strength etc. when you level up, you only get skillpoints to use how you want.

Every NPC you meet also gives you a "New bio added" when you interact with them for the first time. You can then go to the "biographies" section in the menu and read a short backstory of each and every npc (Even the beggars you encounter) So...what I'm asking is if anyone here would like to "be" a character in this game? If so, I'd like to know your full name and where you come from. If you don't feel comfortable posting that info here you can PM me of course. There are all kinds of people in the game...good,bad,weird,disturbing etc. Your name could be attached to any of those characters but if you feel strongly against being a lowlife character just tell me, if you don't tell me I will take that as a "Make me however you want"

I guess I should post a few pics from the game so you know what it looks like before agreeing to anything :D Oh and this will be a commercial release whenever it's ready.

I don't know if anyone here will find it appealing but I hope someone will find it at least a little interesting. Ask away if you have any questions or whatever :)

Some features of the games:

CRAFTING/BREWING POTIONS You can gather a LOT of different materials used for crafting...or just sell them
FISHING MINIGAME (Old school button mashing :D not only fish can be caught )

KARMA Good karma = most people like you Bad karma = Bad people like you and can give you quests. You can raise your karma by doing quests or give money to beggars. The game keeps track of how many innocent people you have killed and how many items you've looted from their corpses though so buying good karma after doing major crimes can make some people treat you like a psychopath instead...neither good or bad. More like "I don't get you...I don't feel comfortable around you"

Track records, You can see how many battles you've won, how many you've escaped from. How long you've been playing. How many steps you've taken...skillbooks read etc.

HOUSE STEALING! Yeah you read it right. It's not as easy as just killing the owner and think you own the house though. There is a little more to it ;) You will be able to make a profit from a stolen house too making you a superbastard :D Renting it out to a "travel-by-foot merchant" can make him create a better shop with better items.

FAST TRAVELING: All new locations you discover will be added to your map, making traveling a lot quicker.

JOIN THE SCUM! Fallout never allowed you to join the raiders and I don't like it one bit...here...you have a chance to join the bandits and they will not be hostile towards you anymore. You can even call in a driveby shooting in battles if you have gained enough trust from them

Ok that's some info about the game! Hope it sounds interesting! :) Oh and RetroJay (My official tester for this project) Get over here and promote this game now. After all, you have played the hell out of this ;D

General Discussion / Printer problems!
Mon 07/12/2015 13:24:19
Hey! Our printer at home works fine when you print text documents but everytime I try to print something with a little graphic in it (A job resumé with a tiny photo for example) The photo/graphics looks terrible. Even if I print a picture with only text in it, it looks bad. It used to work fine to print pictures as well. Anyone have a clue to why this is happening?

It might be worth mentioning that some time ago it accidentally hit the floor while i was doing something (stupid cord wasn't long enough and it fell down :D ) it wasn't a big fall though and if something happened to it, shouldn't text printing also be bad in that case? I have put new ink in it as well.

Please enlighten the ignorant with your wisdom oh printer experts :D

Ok just a black background might be a little boring and the font could be changed too I guess, but I always just liked the idea about the statue holding the big blue cup instead so i fired up the ol' 3d program and played awaaaay :D

I'm making a huge project...Been working for over 6 months on a free roaming RPG with turnbased battles. You control entirely how to build your character. Leveling up only gives you skillpoints, never increased strength,defence etc. automatically. It's up to you how to make everything. Anyway...hacking is a skill you can increase...I have a semi-lame minigame for hacking...you shoot a bolt of electricity in 1 out of 8 directions and make it bounce against stuff to get it to bounce in to the electric wiring (Even though it doesn't really look like wiring hehe) Today I thought of another idea...when hacking...an image will be shown and you must guess the right word...simple...but...should I have this or if you have enough skillpoints for hacking, you just open the locks automatically? Some people seem to like minigames and others not...so...what is your opinion?
Thanks! :)

(General discussion seemed like the most accurate place to post this since it's a non ags game. If not I'm sorry) :D

Ok! I was having a bad night...tired like hell and was feeling a little dead...that's when my incredibly bad humor kicks in so I did this.
Am I the only one who ever pictured this when hearing the name "Dalai Lama" ? (I apologize if I offend anyone,I respect if people are religious but I hope you can keep some distance to it at least) :D

So...what is your sense of humor when you're deadly tired?

The Rumpus Room / What grinds my gears!
Thu 24/09/2015 13:43:15
Ok this is the rumpus room but if this is TOO damn stupid just delete it! :D But when an update/install or whatever has that progressbar and it says 100% complete but you still must wait. That's what really grinds my gears! (Yeah family guy reference there) Maybe I should keep this thread to have a new grind every week!!!! Anyone with me? Check in for next weeks complaints!!!! :D

So I've been working damn hard on my RPG for a few months now and yesterday, I had an idea to make a background I could use when I'll be announcing the game on various forums etc. What do you think about it? :)

Hey! I'm facing a little problem...I'm making a RPG (It's shaping up real nice) and it features a turnbased battle system. There are different types of grenades you can throw. If you throw a firegrenade, it reduces your enemy's defence. I have a variable set to 25, meaning that your current skill allows you to reduce your enemy's defence by 25 % if you throw a fire grenade. However...I don't know how to make a calculation so the game understand that the number 25 is percentage...not 25 points...the enemy's stats will be different depending on which ones you meet...so I want to have a calculation that will always remove 25% (or 30,35,40 etc, depending on how much you level up the skill) from the enemy's current defence stat. Is there anyone here who can teach this moron some math? :D Maybe it is really simple but my mind is fried right now haha

Ok...I read in the news (It was a while ago but it didn't catch my attention until yesterday) that Swedish politicians now wants to reward people fighting with IS (Islamic state) We have a lot of young people here without jobs, still living with their parents etc. When those terrorists return to Sweden, some politicians wants to give them apartments, jobs, free psychiatric help etc. REALLY?!?!?! Even some native swedish people has joined. I have a lot of friends from all over the world with different religious beliefs as well and they are really nice people. I welcome everyone here who can behave and treat people with respect. I just thought it was really messed up reading about that. I know we are a neutral country and don't want to go to war with anyone. And that's good because war is a terrible thing, no matter what my forum name might suggest ;) I understand the thought behind this action "It's better to stay friends" but rewards should be given to those who deserve it!

I know I've been posting a lot about different projects but I really like working with this style and want to have some input from you guys :) (Don't worry...nothing will be posted in the GIP thread until a project is nearly finished) so...is this picture too green? Should I add/remove something? Feel free to comment on the GUI's as well (I did my own verb gui...not working with the monkey Island template) I'm thinking about adding a path between the houses, giving the idea that you can go up that hill in the distance :)

NEW version

even NEWER version (Fixed the dog house)

General Discussion / I got married today :D
Sat 21/02/2015 22:08:29
Yup! I just came home from all celebrations and I just had to share my joy with the good people here on the forums :D I will spend the rest of the evening with some relaxing gamemaking...It's been one hell of a long day :D  (my sister took these with my phone so I don't have so many pictures yet. A friend at work took more pro pictures) Oh and Poland? I'm sorry that this Swedish bastard stole your most beautiful girl ;)
And I censored that painting in the background for fun ;D

Hey! I wasn't sure where to post this but I chose this forum. Sorry if I chose the wrong one :) I just noticed that the player character is...well kind of flickering when his walkanimation is played. It's hard to explain...it just looks like...glitchy...flickering sort of... Anyone have an idea why this is happening? it looks really ugly. There's nothing wrong with the graphic files themselves (Just checked them all) It must be something in AGS...I tried both direct draw and direct 3D and it happens on both. I have 32 bit true color setting with 1024*768 resolution. I tried changing to 16-bit Hi color...it might have helped a little with the flickering...but it made the graphics look bad. It doesn't seem to be everywhere. On some walkable areas it seems better...or it's just totally random. I work with the graphics in Clickteam's game making software Multimedia fusion 2 and walking around with the character in that program doesn't make the character flicker or anything. :(

General Discussion / Selling game art?
Wed 07/01/2015 21:25:51
I hope this fits in the general discussion,if not I'm sorry :) So I had an idea today...I'm fairly confident in the 3D graphics I can make. Is there a market to sell 2d sprites? Like animated characters and such. My idea would be to display some samples (Objects,buildings,characters,walkcycles etc) on a webpage to show people what I can do and also take requests, like if someone would like special animations for a specific character I made. So is there a market for that you think? I know how much people want to make games but don't have the art skills. I would also take requests if someone would like a character or object in a topdown perspective instead...or isometric or whatever :D

I think this could be good enough for example to sell if someone needed an animated guy for a game...and this was made pretty fast I might add...I could tweak it more if needed (Not looking for critics...just saying hehe)

I love AGS! It's the best program ever if you want to make your own point and click game but I have no desire for it anymore. I do have many ideas for adventuregames but it's just...I dunno...boring like hell just to open up the program. I need a serious talking to...and a beating probably...Why...WHYYYYYY?!?!?!?! can't i find it in my heart to work with AGS anymore?!?! :D I know I tried too many ideas and kept posting them in the WIP thread in the past but at that moment I felt that I had focus for 100% but soon after, all inspiration just died...Jimmy the troublemaker 2,Farmer Barney's crisis,Camp Death etc. None of them will probably ever see the light of day and it's kind of sad that I've only been able to finish one lousy...semi-crappy game after all these years I've been a member here. You people here always have nice things to say about the stuff I'm posting in WIP or critic's lounge and I appreciate it like hell!!! Oh...What to do...what to do?
#56
ok so I have this in all rooms almost to check if it's day or night so objects and characters will be tinted or have the tint removed "Enters room before fade in"

function room_Load()
{
  RemoveWalkableArea(2);
if(night==0){
  SetBackgroundFrame(1);
  object[0].Tint(0, 0, 250, 65, 100);
}
else if(night==1){
  SetBackgroundFrame(0);
  object[0].RemoveTint();
}
}

As you can see the tints are only affected depending on if night is 0 or 1 but a warning log keeps telling me (for every room more or less) that a "RemoveObjectTint was called but object was not tinted"...There are no errors while playing but that warning log is really annoying
Any idea why this is happening?

Critics' Lounge / Unreadable font...really?
Thu 11/12/2014 23:13:26
So i was showing some work at another forum and one guy said that my font was not compatible with the art style at all. I like the font...it's kind of RPG'ish...and I have no problems reading it at all but maybe that's because I'm writing everything ;D I'll show you some pics. Should I change it or not?

Ok so earlier tonight me and my girlfriend were going home by car and suddenly something in the sky caught my attention. It looked almost exactly like a star but it was shining more bright and it was kind of odd because the sun was still shining and there were no other stars in the sky. There was no clouds as well. Anyway, this shiny object moved in a very weird pattern and suddenly it just faded away against the blue sky (No hiding behind a cloud)  The shape of the object didn't look like an airplane either, it was just round and shining. It had no other lights and airplanes don't move like this object moved. Does anyone have a wild guess what I saw? :)

Critics' Lounge / weird or not?
Thu 17/07/2014 23:35:56
Ok I've been staring myself silly with this

To me, the front view looks like he's bigger/taller. First I exported the front view as an image and then I only rotated the character and saved the image again as a back view. does it look weird or am I just too tired? :D

My happiness didn't last long :( I'm not sure what's wrong though. Suddenly the computer started to freeze up, and yesterday...right after firing up AGS Everything on the monitor looked incredibly weird...some yellow-ish color all over the screen and everything froze. Today on startup, single pixels appeared while booting...almost looked like dead pixels appearing all over the screen, it wasn't that but looked like it. I had to hold the powerbutton to be able to shut down. I'm guessing it is the Graphics card?? but i'm no master when it comes to this stuff...Luckily I could get in to windows one more time to make a backup copy of all my 3d objects and AGS Projects. Stupid piece of crap!!! I noticed the computer was very noisy while working with Poser or Cubase...but I have a 8 core processor and 16 gig of ram so there shouldn't be any problems running those programs. The graphics card is a Geforce GTX 760. I'm guessing it is that retarded graphics card that couldn't take it hehe. I'll get something fatter...with 4 gig memory or something. I'm soo glad right now that I also have a strong gaming laptop to use for now. I'd hate to pause with AGS because of this!!!! What are your guesses good people?
