No worries Squinky... but nobody can possibly make fun of your mother to the extent Helm did.

question 1: You need to have your game in the games database apparently. This was a hidden rule last time which knocked Automation out of the running.

Lo_res_man,

Ken Miller takes 2 common arguments against evolution and pretty much breaks them down and shows how they are wrong. Before continuing in this topic I'd be interested to know what you have to say to his points because he quite easily shows how evolution is correct in the face of those 2 arguements. He also speaks on the fossil record, and he uses names of scientist instead of just saying "scientists say this about creationism" or "I have heard that scientists say this about evolution" which we end up doing in here because we don't prepare like he did. Also, that PDF file does just what you say, proves nothing but not in the way you think. As Ken Miller states, all scientific methods and ways of understanding should always be carefully examined.

No I can't see your point really. I understand that this may be something you've never seen before so you just assume it's impossible but I don't see that as a valid assumption. That's just ignorance [and I don't mean to be mean by using that word, I just mean that you obviously haven't seen a lot of this type of art.] Haven't you ever seen Matte Paintings for movies? Those things are HUGE and they are amazing and they trick you every single time you see them in a movie.

from his deviant art page, I can very easily see the coloured pencil strokes in this drawing.

http://www.deviantart.com/view/33104991/

And this is so obviously a drawing.

if we take this to another medium:

http://www.highend3d.com/gallery/architecture/exteriors/gallerylarge.php?id=649

http://www.highend3d.com/gallery/characters/3d_photoreal/gallerylarge.php?id=643

To me there are obvious 3d "tells" that these images give away. But show them to people that have no prior experience looking at this type of art and you will fool them.

edit:

I still am skeptical, but don't really care, heh. The image that shows him creating the image could very likely somehow be faked,

Why is this likely? Are you skeptical of everything like that? The photos LGM posted in the critic's lounge, is it likely that those are faked. That they are actually very skillfully edited poser models placed on backgrounds pulled from Google Image Search?

LGM didn't even give us a behind the scenes shot so we could see him holding a camera, then again that's not proof enough because that can be faked too!

QuoteI am also skeptical, because he links to no gallery of his doodles, or personal type drawings. You can't tell me he dosen't just draw normal pictures sometimes, and a person with this skill would make something worth showing off.

He has a link to his deviant art page which also has a link to other art he does with coloured pencils.

Even if it is a computer image (which it very likely may be)

Why?! I just don't understand why it is "very likely." Does he have a special printer that holds a pencil and prints these images out?

http://www.pet-portraitartist.com/

Here's another artist he links too and she works in colour! Of course, by works in colour I mean she opens photoshop and applies some paint daubs filters and then prints the image out on canvas with a special printer that uses acrylic paint and then mounts the canvas.

RAR RAR RAR! anyway... I'm done now...

The thing non-artists don't understand is that you can make amazing paintings or drawings from your mind full of intense imagery and deep emotion but the average person will not buy that.

The average person who will buy art wants something simple and nice to look at. Don Seegmiller came to my work place and gave a little talk, basically what he said is that while he can paint like crazy, what he made a living on was painting female models. That's what galleries would accept from him and that's what people would buy.

You would be totally unfair to this person by saying "He can use the pensils so good and does this?" This is his job, you have no idea what he does in his spare time.

Art ignorance is what leads people to be impressed with a 15,000 layer photoshop file and not the finished result or the subject matter. People who buy art for their homes want boring technically pretty art.

I can't see what there is to be suspicious about with this guy's art. He does photoreal pencil drawings, he's not the first.

Manicmatt: I'm sorry to single you out but you're post is so ignorant and rude that I had too. Because doing a drawing that this site showcases in 48 hours sounds crazy to you it must be fake? You can plainly see the progression on drawing that baby but there's still a doubt that it's a drawing? Because the artist can do these drawings quickly means he's lazy and money hungry? Rude rude rude.

Um Zooty, he was.

I work at Vicarious Visions and it's great! We just moved into a HUGE new office and I couldn't be happier! I haven't had to work much overtime [I think I worked 1 hour here and there over] and I've hit all my milestones.

I thought they shut down all production last year and were just publishers, oh well, nevermind then.
#1070
Since Lucasarts has closed all game producing facilities and is now just a publisher, they won't be making any games for a long long time.

It's just a trailer... Jeez. And besides, shouldn't people have learned not to take games personally anymore?
#1072
Lucasarts is a company that at one point in time made adventure games partly do to the fact that the people working there wanted to make them. Those people are no longer working there [for the most part] so if Lucasarts started making adventure games again it would be completly different than before [as most things are].

So support the people who made the adventure games you love not the company that they worked at.

This is pretty cool except I have one major problem with it...

There's no floppy hands option.

Please please please make a Colossal-izer button that makes the hands very floppy!

MY LEGACY IS AT STAKE!

And what'd the female members think about having such a graphical presentation by their name..?

Why "Oh la la!" of course!
#1075
Yes, I'm bumping it again...

Why this time? Because I just watched this awesome lecture:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVRsWAjvQSg

it's 3 minutes shy of 2 hours, his lecture goes on for about 70 minutes and the rest is questions and answers. He speaks on flagellum and the fossil record and chromosomes and all of it is amazing.

I totally recommend everyone with even the slightest interest in evolution or intelligent design watch it. I'm also quite interested in knowing what some of the people in this thread who have made points for ID would have to say about his reasons against.

Raggit, so they all of the suddenly don't want to kill someone not directly related to Iraq but they will let thousands of americans die, kill the economy and force thousands of americans out of jobs?

"However the interesting thing with the Pentagon crash is that there is no footage of a plane hitting it. At least in the footage shown, you can not see a single trace of an airplane. Also, an airplane that low to the ground to hit the first story of the building (by the way, the pilot would have to be very well-trained to do something like this) would be extremely loud. Witnesses heard no such noise."

http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/ppfinal.html

Quick google search shows some interesting stuff... Also, why should there be footage of the plane hitting the pentagon? How much footage is there of the first plane hitting the WTC building? I wouldn't say that's interesting at all. Is there any footage of the plane that crashed? Is that some how telling of there being something amiss?

You skipped that entire post.

Did Lee Harvey Oswald work alone?

The reason I bring these other theories up [The moon being the first] is because if you really learn both sides it's pretty painfully obvious which one is a crack pot theory and which isn't. People believe that everyone at NASA was in on the hoaxed moon landing, or at least thousands of people were tricked into believing they were actually working on a spaceship. People also believe that there is a huge conspiracy behind JFK being shot and really Olive Stone is the reason people still believe this.

If you can give me a plausible reason behind why hundreds of people would keep quiet about a 9/11 cover up, then we'll be getting somewhere. Black mail and payoffs don't really cut it in my opinion since I can use that as a reason for everything.

"The reason no one has come forward about how the moon landing was faked is because everyone was either blackmailed or paid for!"

"The reason no one has come forward about how JFK was assassinated by the US government is because everyone was either black mailed or paid for!"

"The reason no one has come forward about how the Masons run the world and have run the world for hundreds of years is because everyone was either black mailed or paid for!"

I'm not skittish about 9/11. It just seems like you're picking your language to convince yourself even though you say you aren't convinced either way. The government and media make up a lot more than Fox news and the Bush administration, believing reporters and authors and people who know what they're talking about isn't the same as nodding your head with glazed over eyes whenever you hear George Bush say "Let's roll!".

"I thought this would be an open discussion"

How is this not an open discussion? Is there someone here trying to prevent you from speaking?

Helm RE: "Why"

The thing behind why I aks why is... People who believe in these conspiracy theories seem to be able to think up [not actually discover, but imagine]a reason for everything and I find the more you ask a conspiracy theorist "But why, explain that more..." the more far fetched their explinations get and the more... I guess... Ammo you have against them. Like how Raggit seems to believe that you can keep hundreds of people quiet over something as huge as this by just paying them enough money or black mailing them. People have ratted on the Mafia countless times throughout history where they KNOW they'd die if the cops they told were on the take or if the mafia ever found them and they still did it. I can't remember his name and it's killing me but a man just confessed to tons of illegal activities related to washington and paying people off, he was 70 something years old and he'll go to jail for the rest of his life, he lost all his money and property and he has a wife and children. He said it was the right thing to do. Washington can't even keep private emails private how can they keep 100% of the people in on this deal quiet?

Then again the other problem with asking conspiracy theorists questions is that after a while I guess they stop answering you. Since Raggit skipped my questions all together... Oh well.

I don't mean to ask "why did 9/11 happen" I mean to ask "Why would you believe that?" Sure something like war is a bunch of little cells of people all doing things that eventually adds up. But a mass coverup of the Bush administration either allowing 4 terrorist strikes in 1 day or actually placing bombs in the WTC and helping to destroy it... That is not something where you can say "It's just people existing that caused this to happen." In my opinion.

Outing a CIA agent and smearing Richard Clarke is a far far cry from allowing the murder of thousands of Americans. If you allow the murder of thousands of Americans why did they just out Valerie Wilson? Why didn't they just have her killed "Woops, sometimes that happens in the CIA!" why aren't they assassinating anyone who disagrees with them?

If they have the ability to destroy the sense of security of the American people, destroy 2+ buildings, kill thousands of people, leave thousands and thousands more without jobs and destroy the economy. Why did they just leak Valerie Wilson's name?

Obviously you can't go around assassinating people who disagree with you, people would notice. But you also can't go around allowing terrorists to succeed in attacking the US 3 times in one early morning strike without someone SCREAMING against it. How can they possibly keep hundereds of people quiet? Blackmail and payoffs make no sense, how can you believe that?
