Hooray for everyone! I haven't beaten Science! or Illusions 1 yet but NO OFFENSE TO ANYONE:

Tomb of the Moon winning best scripting just shows that people can't really guess what goes into a game scripting wise when Blackmail was a 2d side scroller action game... Must find a way to correct that.

Still, hooray!

...Interesting that a lot of you agreed with the main crux of my issue. You all know that a child needs love and needs to be given love at a young age from their parents. However...you think that it doesn't really matter what you do in order to get the kid to begin with--or raising him. And that is astounding!

Why is it funny that people think children need love?

QuoteI thought you wanted the child to have a happy home

A child that is loved is more often than not in a happy home. The mother and father can also love the child to DEATH but the mother and father can not just be in love anymore or actually hate each other. It happens, so now what? Is the child doomed to a bad childhood? Should we bring the single parent up on charges of endangering a child when they don't get remarried as soon as possible because somewhere there's an equation that mother + father = the only way to give a child love.

QuoteWhy a mother AND a father? Because the father has a kind of authority that the mother doesn't have--and I'm sorry, but that's just the way things are. You and I both know it...and a child needs that kind of an authority figure in his life.

Leave off how backwards your statement is, I bring the idea of a single parent home back into play. The mother dies and the father raises the children himself, I guess the children are doomed, right? Why is the father an authority figure? Is it because men are big and tough and women are small and weak that they can't be authoritative?

Quote....You know what? Maybe I should tell you about how I was raised so that you can see where I'm coming from with this...

That didn't help at all, I was raised by a mother and father and I have a brother and sister. Yet I have no awkward notion that single parents, gay parents or foster parents are somehow inferior to my mother and father. There's another question, should we just get rid of the whole foster child thing or only allow it if there is a mother and father in the home, because obviously it's doing no good and the kids will get no love and grow up to be bank rapers! [where one runs into a bank, shoots into the sky and demands the vault be opened so he can have sex with the money, UNWILLINGLY! That's how morally vacant they are, thanks for not being there dad!!]

I wouldn't have life any other way! The concept of two guys or two women "marrying" and "raising" children is foreign to me.

You know what else is foreign to you? Having a parent with cancer and what that's like. Or having a life where the mother or father has to move all the time because they work for the military [go ahead, tell me that parents in the military can't raise a child correctly]. My parents are legally divorced so my father could run for office in another county, am I doomed? Or is it because I've moved out of the house that I'm ok, but I moved in with my girlfriend and we're not married, oh no! My morals!

Again, there are people who 100% know in their bones that they were born in the wrong body, they have gender reassignment surgery and live their life 100% as a man/woman and never look back or think in a different way, are these people unfit? Is it anything that is foreign to you that you don't accept as a good place for a child?

oh one last thing...

"it doesn't really matter what you do in order to get the kid to begin" again, no more adoption?

Eric

Hello, my name is Werner Brandis... My voice is my passport, verify, please.

Also, I just added 2 new levels to my password rotation, I have a few words and numbers that I mash up to make new passwords so I'll never forget them, new ones were added when my computer got hit with a worm.

...casual sex doesn't have to hurt...

Are you honestly suggesting that, in spite of your “Colossal” name, you can have intercourse (casual or otherwise) without causing your partner pain?

I didn't say with a woman!

So was I, but more often than not, no matter how quick a girl likes 'em, a guy can be quicker!

Damn our hides!

Well break ups hurt if you want to go out with the person, casual sex doesn't have to hurt... Well, depending on what you're into, prrowww!

And I agree with CoveredinSquinkySludge [somehow fitting to this topic!] sex is cool [OUT OF WEDLOCK SEX TOO! LOOK OUT GOD!] but running around on the beach and going swimming and getting all tired and taking a noon nap with my girlfriend is better. Or watching a really good movie with her... Or playing with stuffed animals with her... It's more memorable...

"Sadly, I don't have kids. Nor do I have anyone to have kids with."

Oh no! that comment even made Roger sad! Hey, I think he's single! Too bad you're a SLUDGY McHatesChrisJones!

"Nik: I think maybe you're doing things a little too right if it's happening that fast "

You can't do something too right if it's only half way... "Well, we built half of the building perfectly, the other half well.. We got tired and rolled over and went to bed..."

"Can you imagine that it was painfull. There would be no human kind... "

And yet there are tons of cats! Go fig!

One of my favourite speedruns was of someone playing Mega Man X and Mega Man X2 at the same time with 1 controller [they rigged it up so one controller controlled 2 emulators at the same time.

He didn't die once and he beat them both in like 40 minutes or something. It was a sight to see!

In a totally nerdy sorta way!

So by this logic, children in a one parent house hold don't get enough love or may be bitter against all repair until they have another parent in the situation?

But the parent has to be a different sex than the original parent because you say Mother and Father, what about transgendered parents? Gets a little tricky there!

On top of that hundreds and thousands and millions of people have sex without getting married, some people never get married by choice! And funnily enough Hundreds of thousands of millions of people are doing just fine emotionally, physically and spiritually. So if the consequences that they will reap is, on average, some really good sex with consenting adults who can make decisions for themselves, then rock on with the reaping!*

Funny thing about human beings, they don't give themselves enough credit as a race.

And besides, there really are no rules to the OROW, just get a game done in a week.

The only reason the room restriction was added was so people would be forced to think small which sometimes you have to do to remind people that they only have a week.

There is nothing stopping someone from working on a one room game for 2 months, if the need to win something at the end of a designated time is needed that's what the AGS awards are for and more importantly, you just made a game, why do you need to win something?

And tons of people enter the OROW, more people have entered that than have entered MAGS in a long while [forgive me if I'm wrong, I haven't paid much attention to MAGS after I failed at finishing Spellbound!] and more people actually finish a game for the OROW than for other competitions.

* MrColossal stares long and hard at the ATC

"Being forced to make a small amount in high quality could encourage people to expand their game to a larger, multi-room version"

Which again is a reason OROW was created, in my view anyway, to stop people from thinking big and sitting on a project for 4 years...

* MrColossal stares long and hard at himself

There is nothing stopping you from working on your game more after the OROW competition is through either. But in my opinion being given a restriction like OROW gives you closes your mind off to impossible ideas but opens it to new ones that you may not have thought of before.

One question:

Since this has nothing to do with King of the Hill except character names, why base it off of the cartoon [which is about growing up and living in an awkward community in Texas and nothing to do with gender reassignment/spirit foxes and horrible murder plots...] when you could just as easily create your own world and base it in there?

In my opinion the characters in King of the Hill aren't that amazing that characters like them can't be created quite easily and if you created them yourself I would be able to buy the story much easier because they are new characters...

If the answer is "Because I want to." Then so be it, but I'd recommend just making your own world, you can do more in it and it's yours, not Mike Judge's.

Either way, good luck.

It's 2 minutes from RPI... So for me it's the part right near my first job where I got to work on Plan of Attack and right near my second job where I get to work on GBA and DS games... So at the moment, there is no bad part of Troy for me.

Plus I'm 1 minute from the one and only I Love NY Pizza [which is the best] and 30 seconds from Vanilla Bean! Hooray for me!

AGS games would work just fine on the PSP I'm sure, they have a little anaolog stick that would be perfect for moving the mouse.

It's simple what happens in the ladies room...

I never called anyone crazy, but there's a difference between a legitimate concern and a sorta silly one.

Also the company that created the program you are using can claim any type of TOS that they want, don't use programs that you don't agree with. It's pretty simple.

Also, Matt Damon, you raised a lot of extremely unlikely situations... Can anyone find a time that AOL has taken someone's idea out of an IM?

Maybe you say "Just because it's unlikely doesn't mean it can't happen, like Matt Damon's (who is me) popularity after one kind of ok movie." true but that doesn't mean the concern has become legitimate. Meteors fall to earth all the time but no one is scared one will destroy their house and brain them because it's unlikely. Millions and millions of conversations on the internet and AOL or MSN or whoever randomly picked yours, scanned it for marketable ideas and then stole it? Que?

Fund your own adventure game project

Also:

Set up a camera, record a 3rd person who has no idea what is going on opening a dictionary, picking 10 words at random and writing them on seperate note cards, close the dictionary and put it away. Enter girlfriend, you stay in a seperate room, she takes the cards 1 at a time and friend calls out to you to write down what you think is on the card. Only when all 10 cards are done do you enter the room, compare cards.

THAT would impress me.

Oh no!

Now the internet knows I live in Troy and I'm 24 years old!

What other personal information are you telling the internet? And if you're willing to put it in your profile then you're willing to let other people read it so... What's the big privacy issue?
