I'm not focusing anything on you, just because I have a problem with something you did doesn't mean I'm on an all out attack against you.

People clash, whatever, am I reading your comments and seething with rage? No. Am I going to follow you around the forum and post "Shut up." after each of your posts? No.

I think they can be an alienating image, I didn't post my reasons because I didn't care that much and obviously the majority of people on the forums doesn't care, We'll wait for CJ and see if he cares since he's the authority. I have no need to post why I think they're alienating.

Get angery first, ask for clarification later?

Obviously there are worse things than cartoon boobs, that doesn't mean this is the place for it...

I did read the very first posts carefully before posting, I don't see anyone saying it would create an unreal view of women, just one person saying "corrupt". And you should know by now Bruised is never serious in anything she does... She even said "I got tired of the game..." she was posting cause she was bored, whatever.

hypocritical: Ok, give me a list of things I can and can't complain about then I'll be set straight.

The really hilarious thing is is that you can't even link to the image yourself... Are you proving a point now? I asked you to please link to it and you won't... You just bring up that I'm a moderator when I said nothing about that the entire time... Whatever man, score one for the anti-censorship movement...

And it DOESN'T MATTER if there are worse things in the paper or on the news. This is the AGS FORUMS! Remember? Where a bunch of people come together to discuss making games in AGS and to discuss adventure games and make friends and live in a community. Maybe linking to images that may upset someone out of courtesy and not because they should be used to it by now.

again whatever, now you're all "eric doesn't want me here..." Yea, cause someone not wanting someone else to post in a thread means anything and makes any difference. Not once did I ask you to leave, I just asked you to eat my boner. You can still post and eat at the same time. It's a small meal anyway.

I say go with the first one because it's better to have characters with personality. Also, I think the face of the second looks too much like that of your hero. If you want to make a clean shaven variation, I'd say go for a face a la Don Knotts.

didn't see that before... had to be done

With all due respect DG, eat my boner...

I don't know where you're getting half of this stuff from... Just tell me you like to argue and I'll never bother replying to you again in matters like this.

Women's lib? What are you talking about?

Everyone got puritanical about Janet's boobs? So what? What does this have to do with anything? Is this what we're talking about? Are you lumping me into the "everyone" category because I think the image can be alienating?

Unrealistic views of women? Who said anything about that?

taking a simple and small thing so seriously? what? where? who's really freaking out about this? only person I can see is you. [and now i guess me]

the image you posted:
I'd ask the person who posted that image to please make it a link because some people might not want to see it... Jesus christ who do you think you are? Are you the enlightened one who's going to shock everyone into accepting your view? Maybe it's just common courtesy to not post the image directly and to put a link...

Kill Bill, The Passion of the Christ... What?

What does any of this have to do with anything? Since no one posts image after image of pictures from wars and stuff from rotten.com where are you getting this idea that the AGS Forums are used to death and not used to sex?

so if you're just posting to argue then so be it... in the meantime can i buy you a cinnabon?

oh and can you please link to that image, there are some people who may not want to see it, and since it would be common courtesy to either link to it or put a warning in the thread title maybe it's a good idea.

doesn't dissolve have to load both background images into memory, dissolve between them and then take out the old one?

or am i stupid?
#2906
I don't like the image in your sig because it can be extremely alienating. But whatever, you don't care and I guess no one else does.

but RickJ, your second point doesn't make any sense. Is it our responsibility what a grown man looks at on his off time at work? You don't like the giant pac-man I had, don't come to the forums at a time when it may be inappropriate.

and to continue your point 3, doesn't that mean avatars are also pointless?

If all goes according to plan Jess will be going. Pesty has also expressed interested and if she can't come Sylpher will kidnap her anyway and force her to attend.

Hello,

My name is Eric and I'll be hosting Mittens this year at my camp in Sacandaga.

Here's the deal. My father agreed to let you all stay at my camp for a week, there aren't enough rooms in the house for everyone to sleep inside so there will still be some tentification needed. There's a grocery store nearby, we have running water/a kitchen/a phone/a bathroom/a private beach/and the best part: An Atari.

The majority of people will more than likely make fun of me and say "This isn't a camp! This is a summer home!" But when I was a kid it was a camp with no television, no phone, and certainly no Atari.

Friday, July 23rd will be the day Mittens 2004: Electric Boogaloo starts. I won't be posting the address on the internet so if you're going either PM me or Email me. Last time I asked for people to PM me 2 did. So at the moment there are 8 people I know are going and only 2 of them have the address.

For a rough idea of where my camp is check for Broadalbin in New York state. It's upstate and near a Sacandaga Reservoir which my camp is on. My camp is about 15 minutes from Broadalbin.

18 and up because that is what my father says. Because the world is a dangerous place and my camp is full of demons and monsters he also asks you to sign a waiver saying you won't sue him if you're attacked by a wandering gelatinous cube while going for a swim at my camp.

Besides, if you can be defeated by a gelatinous cube you don't deserve to live anyway...

I don't care what you have to say about signing a waiver because what you say doesn't matter. If you want to come, sign it and give it to me, if you want to come but don't want to sign it then you can't come. It's simple and not a crazy thing to ask.

Any questions?

Any other questions?

hehe the sad thing is SSH, the tower in Time Out is the same tower from a comic I drew involving a scientist living in a tower who creates a robot to build another tower for God next door to his tower. Just recently I started rewritting the comic and I changed the scientist to look like this guy...

So in reality, he is hanging out of the same window that Dr. Ohio Mercurious IX is hanging out of...

I'm a one trick pony

to expand on MrMasse's suggestion: the light from the desk lamp doesn't look like desklamp light.

It's really soft and nice, desk lamps cast like spot lights and leave clean sharp shadows in my experience.

and the game is Danny's yes? I forget the name...

I like this very much so. I think it's better than all the other stuff I've seen done by you.

The lighting and the shadow and how harsh it is. The lines aren't all watery and smudgy, the ground is real nice, and i love the face and hand.

What I personally would have changed [back in the sketch] was how it looks like he's running but his pose and the angle isn't very dynamic at all. His arm with the torch lines up directly with his leg and his other arm is so far in perspective that he looks like a little lump of frog.

I would have raised his torch arm a bit to seperate the arm and leg and then stuck his other arm back more and let the majority of the perspective fall on the staff:

then I'd have this as a silhouette:

which I feel is more dynamic.

danke for the responses:

The Bricks: Considering the entire drawing was started as a doodle and I didn't really plan any of it out the window makes sense. I realize how it should look but I just didn't care too much because 1: Just messing about 2: The character has a large square head and a tiny tiny mouth, realism wasn't really what I was going for. Hehe

The Trees: when I was showing this to other people they said the trees were awesome and I quote "I want to lick them." I didn't think they were that great, I liked them in this older version better:

http://sylpher.com/kafka/junk/scientistwindow1.jpg [note how TERRIBLE the bricks look there!]

The Left Side: There was also a problem with this side, it just got to a point where I didn't know what to do and I had tried a few things but none of them were working so I just said "Oh vell!" and moved on.

Igor: As you can see from the link I posted above [go through them all, from 1 to 7 and see how it changed from comments] the bricks went through quite a lot. I tried a few times to add more depth and eventually... again... after so long you just want to finish a painting and so I did.

SSH: Do I draw people hanging out of windows a lot? I hadn't realized. I suppose it's my subconscious love of Defenestration.
