The biggest problem I have with your buildings is that they look like 3d models with textures on them. By that I mean that the walls end in perfect right angles and the rocks don't seem to have depth. That is the one problem I have. Some overlapping rocks that go from one side to the next would be dandy I think and especially ones that pop out from the straight outline of the buiding would work wonders.

Other than that rock on with your bad self.

I just REALLY want to know what you ment by that Marcus? What does that have to do with anything ever at all? I'm 22 years old and I graduated from college last May, can I participate in this conversation or am I to adult?

I'm not trying to be a jerk I'm just totally confused.

And yes, I agree with Mills. When all is said and done AGS worked every single day but one [technically it still worked] so why not post a hooray for that instead of a boo for the one day?

this is what's important not if the CGI is convincing. The Rocketeer* never looked like he was flying but that doesn't stop him from kicking ass.

definetly the first one cause the contrast is greater and i can see where the light and shadow is. the second just blends together and it all becomes one colour

looks nice, i'd make the hill go over the horizon more just so it doesn't look all on the same plane

and i have a tutorial on reducing colours in a gradient at my site but who knows if it's necessary, squinky's a big boy and can do what he likes.

something i was going to say before but didn't was if the sky is green then maybe that colour should work it's way into the entire scene a little, like the first image i posted, know what i mean jelly bean?

well it was his first guitarman animation and his first animation in flash at all [except those secret ones that he used to get through the cold nights alone...] so i think it's a good start. like with any animation the voices start out terrible and eventually the actors get used to the characters [think bender season 1]

only this time it's not actors just Phil... so what i'm saying really is "Phil j00 suxxx, d0 teh voises butter!"

i think what's missing is shadows. if it was noon i'd accept that general illumination but since the sun is going down i want to see some shadows being cast baby.

and since the sun is in the background that means the majority of the image will be in shadow but that's where the interesting things will happen.

and i don't think the gradient on the ship is good.. hehe. i think you need to use shadow to define the shape better especially with highlights if it's supposed to be metal.

i think what you have going on with the rocks in the waybackground should be going on with everything. that dark dark. maybe knock down the detail of those rocks in the background too. but also remember that on earth at least sand reflects light like some kinda reflector disc + 1 so the entire image doesn't have to be in total shadow. i think the cliff and the capsule above all should be in shadow and should be casting shadows.

but besides that i enjoy it and i love the vector character, he looks like he's truckin' down the road. just cause you're a bounty hunter in deep space doesn't mean you can't kick back and groove with some truckin'

thank you for the comments. as for how i did it, i saw this page and decided to give it a try it proved harder than it looked and just tried my own thing.

i didn't use reference cause i didn't think i'd be successful in painting this so i became quite nervous towards the end that the guy had too much blue in him.

the towering hills in the background, those look the same since i started it and i thought about added something to it but i just didn't think it looked good. i'll revisit and see what i can do.

the nose cone is also something that worries me to mess with but i'll try and revisit it [hooray for layers]

i also agree with the stock of the gun. it's a little too drawn as you say and not painted. the strap on the stock used to look more detailed and then i knocked it down quite a bit.

i'll also pop back into the sky and see what i can do. blend the colours better and maybe add 1 more colour in there or something who knows we'll see.

thank you for the time and the crit, i really appreciate it.

oh yea, every time i see this image i think it needs more dark darks but no one agrees with me, am i crazy?

these were my tests before starting that image. just wanted to throw them up here

i'm confused as to what you want to do with the dialog but if you want to not show a dialog just untick show and it won't show up at all
