...it is my understanding that the most retarded thing in the universe you can do is speed in a car...

why in the holy shit holy would you want to?

heh well i think that's a silly thing to thing minimi...

especially when you yourself wanted to make a commercial game, Mike Doak made a commercial game and he's pretty well respected [and not just cause he made a commercial game but cause he's a good guy] i plan on making a commercial game, janaar/2ma2/pessi are making a commercial game and no one should hold that against them

maybe if you could elaborate on what you mean

But I want to end with a sentence I read once on this forum :

"The more money you gain, the more respect you lose".

um... WHAT?

where did you read that and what does that matter at all? more importantly who said that?

who here lost respect for Ionias?

i don't quite know what you mean

why don't you just set the the character's room number to -1 and then set it to the room's number when you need him to appear?

character[NAME].room = -1;

heh tim, didja read the rest of the thread?

i didn't flame you in the slightest...

MSpaint is terrible... i haven't used it in so long and when i did i stuck to the normal palette

my advice is get another image program like gimp or something, scan the link at the top of the critics lounge for the free graphics programs

well one thing, not to be a dick but i think i can say with 100% accuracy that you traced an image from Stor Troopers http://birgits.net/eng/eng_grafstor.shtml

now there's nothing wrong with that but let's call an edit an edit.

i think the best thing you can do is start on a side view and animate that first. it's easier than a front view in my opinion and you can learn a lot about how he moves and a lot about animation

what program are you using so i can know how to help you with your colour problem

check out the Character Control System

http://www.agsforums.com/games.php?category=100&action=search&sterm=ccs&action=showpic&game=186

it would help very muchly indeed. it would cut down on the amount of tests i'd have to run to see if the images are all lined up. or even be able to move the buttons with the cursor keys 1 pixel at time [gui objects and room objects]

if there was still a way of displaying the gui fullscreen with buttons visible it would cut down ever more

thunderstorm, do you have Photoshop, i can't remember

if you do try messing around with setting either the layer to Dissolve or the brush to Dissolve [can do this in PS 7, dunno about others]

i managed to crap this out pretty quick after figuring devising a Plan Of Action ©

or if you have photoshop 7 [don't know about earlier version, i know it isn't in 5.5] try choosing the 1 pixel brush and setting it to scatter

i was able to poop this out but i don't think it looks as refined as the first rock... maybe cause i worked a little faster

i agree on the sky, the dithering/pixels are just too big i think to give you proper depth

it scruntches everything up, i think flay colours might help

also the window in the upper left i feel is quite awkward, actually the entire building on the left looks awkward to me. i don't know if enough information is giving on how it's supposed to look so it just feels like a jumble of flat planes

the final thing that i definetly think you should change is right in the middle of the image there's the peak of a house in the background and right on top of it there's the peak of the foreground roof overhand, it looks cluttered and it merges the perspective at that point for me

i'd say shorten the foreground roof so that we can see more of the building in the background and the fore/middle/background planes will be restored a little.

but meanwhile awesome colours woop!

heh nice post, way to hide behind being anonymous

i'd love to see what games you can produce

i also like how you can already say that this game sucks from a few images on a website...

go away, jerk

basically same thing remixor did

i tried to shallow out the counter top too

but anyway, awesome real awesome, i think the texture on the wall should be a little more faint cause i think it's a little distracting

did you paint that and scan it?

as for perspective:

http://user.tninet.se/~vqb114l/ilb/tutorials/pers.htm

there are other perspective tutorials out there but just check out 2ma2's and it'll be a good primer i think
