mittens will last 3 hours and 13 minutes, the extra 13 minutes are for last minute packing [which i expect to be done in the final 2 hours of mittens, the first hour would be for unpacking]

but a definite date will be picked and i guess i'll tell mods and he'll put it on the mittens site

however the address will not be posted on the interweb

as for places to stay as of right this moment [because you don't want to read the thread] room will be free because it's at my camp... unless you want to pay that is then i'm more than happy

i do believe this is what you want, from the manual:

SetDialogOption (int topic, int option, int new_state)

Changes whether an option in a conversation is available to the player or not. This allows you to add extra options to a conversation once the player has done certain things.
TOPIC is the topic number, from 0 to the number of topics - 1. Find this out in the Room Editor.

OPTION is the option number within that topic, from 1 to whatever the highest option is for that topic.

NEW_STATE controls what happens to this option. It can have the following values:

0   The option is disabled - the player will not see it
1   The option is enabled - the player can now see and use it
2   The option is permanently disabled - no other command can ever turn
   it back on again.

These are equivalent to the option-off, option-on, and option-off-forever dialog commands.
Example:

if (GetGlobalInt(10)==1)
   SetDialogOption(4,2,1);  

will enable option 2 of topic number 4 if the Global Integer 10 is 1.

what if he doesn't believe in god? shouldn't you take that into question before asking the entire community to stop something that maybe no one else sees as insulting?

i understand that a hardcore belief in god requires one to be a bit myopic to others [i'm not trying to be insulting it's true, it's probably extremely hard to be a hardcore religious person and still be able to fathom someone just not believing in god, it's like someone telling my that there's no such thing as gravity] but again if you're going to choose to be a member of an online community, or any community, that involves a large mixed group of races, religions, beliefs, hair styles, you have to understand that not everyone is going to agree with you and a response to Pessi like the one you gave does not take that into account.

end of july, fjeronimo, is the current shootin' for date and it seems like that's the best for people

i had an idea, anyone be interested in a mini adventure-x? i can bring my computer up to camp and if anyone would like to give a talk on anything adventure game related or on the process of making an adventure game then they can and can bring things to show and such?

i'd gladly give a talk on anything but the only thing is, it would have to be more like a lecture not a step by step cause there's no way i'm sitting there and drawing an entire background while 15 people watch me... b.o.r.i.n.g.

there is a way around it but it's long and script heavy [for ghormak not me]

i'm confused, kq1 wasn't the first graphical adventure game, maybe the first to appear in the style of "3rd person player character on "3d" landscape"

with sierra games i always saw them as a different breed all together of adventure games, not games for smart people as roberta williams would suggest but games where you have to accept the fact that you WILL die and it will be MANY times. I agree this hinders exploration a great deal [i hate having to save before i leave a scene or try and complete a puzzle, afraid that the next room has a monster that just kills me or the puzzle is actually a trap or i'm standing on the wrong side of the boulder] but it's just something you either have to accept of the game or not and edit it with AGI Studio so you can't die... what. huh?!

hey cj quick suggestion

do you think it would be possible:

when i create a gui and set it to unclickable i can't detect if the mouse is over a Gui Object with GetGUIObjectAt(mouse.x,mouse.y);

any way to make that possible?

it's a simple plea and i hope people will respect it but it's also i believe too much to ask

it's all fine and good for you to ask and i'm not saying there's anything wrong with it

i think he'd rather an overlay cause then you can at least have characters walk behind it

but imagine being able to do it with objects and characters.... mmm imagine...

i should really redo that first tutorial i made...

there's lots of stupid stuff in there and the slices in the sky are terrible.. i also think that image is quite ugly now, it's so thick and there's no depth, ugh...

pessi, i think that particular tutorial has an effect on lots of people, for a few months skimming the critics lounge all i saw were people taking slices out of the sky like i had, and to look back on it it's terrible looking in that image. i've since gotten better

andail: it's opinion for the pretty/ugly thing too. it's not like i'm singling out anyone elses work and saying it's ugly.

increator: nice tutorial, i especially like the way you did the leaves, it's a nice technique that i wouldn't have thought of, i'd have just done my normal old big fluffy trees but now i know, woop!

I think what Netgraph may mean is that he thinks since the majority of the image is shaded with hard shadows... the blurriness of the shadows on the trees is not good looking to him? and that he'd like to see hard shadows on the tree, maybe? mayhaps?
