General Discussion / Re:Larry 8 without Al!!!

Actually the reason kq8 turned out to be crap is because Roberta was not given complete control over the game. Ken William's explains a lot about it on his site www.sierragamers.com. If Al was given control over Larry than it would most likely not be like Kq8.

hehe cause roberta and ken's games were amazingly written and wonderfly scripted.

granted one must appreciate the history of the game and the pioneeringnessocity of it all but when over 90% of the game is a direct retelling of fairytales, story books, and mythology... it was kinda hard for me to even find where the 5000 years of history ended and the Williams' began

yea those are my main problems, it was very slow

the credits took forever and it seemed to stop on one of them and i had to click past it

and the walking to and from the stage was even slower and i wanted to die

also, i take it that it was supposed to be run in 320x200? cause dave's sprites are horrible looking and again, too slow hehe

so for the next one my suggestions would be, just speed it up a little, try to design it a little more, the title screen was a little bland wow me! and maybe try some close ups? or screen shots?

anyways, good luck and good work

hey denzil, i love your games by the way, can i have your autograph?

but as far as this image goes i love it so far

the walls are mottled and the carpet is quite nice and i just love the blanket, though it feels a little thick like it's foam rubber or something

the desk and computer could use some more work i think perspective wise and colour wise, the chair is real nice but the computer is pretty washed out

the same with the door frame, i think that's what jimi means, on my monitor the door frame really disappears into the wall

otherwise i love the texture and colour choices

woop woop

bah! stupid internet

let's try this again

can i get a what what?

so i squishidy squashed all the bugs in act 1, which was a milestone that i have now reached and breached.

act 2 is on the way or maybe act 3 who knows with me!

act  2 is more of an interactive cutscene, which is gonna take some time cause it's gonna be a little like the intro, which is a lot of animation

so just to let you all know, that's what i'm up too and you should expect the game in less then

........

a long time

hooray for release dates!!

Ice on his fingers and his toes and he's a taurus,

well i guess it helps to know all the new features...

hooray for dummies!

but using a script allows me to see what region the character is standing on so i can devote certain regions to different foot step sounds

dig it?

region 2 is normal, region 4 is wooden floor, and region 6 is gravel
#3748
hello there

so i have a bit of code set up to handle my footsteps

// begin footsteps

footsteptype = GetRegionAt(character[EGO].x,character[EGO].y);

if (character[EGO].frame==3){
 PlaySound(footsteptype);
 }
if (character[EGO].frame==6){
 PlaySound(footsteptype+1);
 }

// end footsteps

everything works fine except for movecharacterblocking commands, no sound is played

so is their a better way that i'm not seeing or is this a suggestion?

any help is much appreciated

TK i suggest reading this again especially:

Critique that isn't constructive in any way, like "Oh, that sux, man"
That won't go anywhere.

one emoticon? that's it? that's neither constructive or a comment on anything really. just that you like to smile

nasty: there really isn't much to say about what you've written, it's really really bare bones

we may need to hear much more about it in order to understand what you mean, cause right now it all sounds very generic and confusing

it looks more like he's chewing gum

my suggestion would be to not have his mouth flow from one position to the other, have it start and stop a little more abruptly
#3752
i agree, i'd rather see these hand drawn like three times and then animated so they looked jittery

if the pencil lines weren't so dark and you did this it may just be possible to survive a whole game while the background constantly strobes

and it doesn't matter how many filters you apply... that still doesn't mean shadow should be coming out from under that door, hehe

go there and then go to games and then tutorials and then the palette tutorial

that should help

you don't need to use pcx files you can use bmp files and paint can save those

hope it helps
