General Discussion / Re:The Ags whiteboard...
Tue 20/05/2003 06:41:36
hehe i set that up for people to use and it got used a WHOLE lot, then people stopped using it and then i forgot about it

gilbert, evenwolf, ivana and i used to sit on the whiteboard for hours at night [mid afternoon for gil] and draw on it and play games

http://sylpher.com/kafka/agswb

don't expect the gallery to get updated or fixed for that matter but do enjoy the whiteboard

also, only 5 people at a time can be on it but that's usually fine enough

love,
eric

heh make sure people know that otherwise you'll get a ton* of people saying that there's no AA for a second

but as i said, it works just fine with instant and dissolve transitions so it's still very much useable

how come l33t haxxors in CS can headshot me through 3 boxes while they are blind and using an MP5 but the agents couldn't hit the broadside of a barn door?

someone needs to get those agents an aim bot

okey doke so i've been plopping around in ags for a few years now and finally decided to learn how to use tiled sprite import

i find it very confusing and i'm never quite sure what is going on so i tried to set up a system and so far it works, except...

when i set up a sprite sheet i usually set it up so the top left image is the first image in the animation moving to the right and then down again like this:

so if i try to import it with tile import it imports fine but it chooses the top image then the one below that then the next one then the one below that and so on

so either i'm suggesting that ags tile import chooses the order to import better, or i'm bringing up a bug

but i'm mostly suggesting a reworking of the tile import cause it's a tad bit confusing

or am i just doing it all wrong?

i'm very sorry if this has been addressed but i read through all the replies and used the useless search function and i didn't see this so here's hoping

i have a 256 colour game 320x200, i turned on AA scaled characters and dinked around, looks good so far until i switch scenes with fade in/out for my transistion

my character is completely black until it's done fading in and then it refreshes to normal aliased scaled sprite

on any other transition it works fine

here's hoping i'm not repeating someone, i don't want the comfy chair again!

hellboy is a comic by Mike Mignola  http://hellboy.com

i don't think he has a flash cartoon but i could be wrong

i could never get into it but i usually always like the fan art that comes out of it

hmm i don't know how truespace works but i found a nice tutorial online, it's a movie that you watch and you get to see him create a head from scratch

it's a low poly head but take the same ideas and run with them

i'll look for it if you're interested

yes lgm, they could have done it a different way, when i saw the first movie i didn't see neo go all bendy and look like a rubber doll with wire bones

you feel they did it seamlessly i don't, why don't you stop bitching about everyone's bitching...

do what you want but why yell at us when you're doing the exact same thing?

anyway, it was a fine movie, it was fun and that's it i guess. xmen 2 was fun, spiderman was fun [though i just saw it again and hated the dialog] these are all fun movies and if i want to be challenged mentally i'll go watch "9 to 5"

i saw it tonite, i didn't see the trailer for the 3rd, damn

don't read if you don't want to know what happens in a vague way this is your warning...

but anyway, Neo goes bendy during 90% of the fight scenes, a few fight scenes were very forced [before he meets the oracle... whathahell?]

and what was with the rave scene?

Agent Smith has a problem that he explains awkwardly, the oracle has help that she explains awkwardly, the architect explains his deal awkwardly, the french guy just talks and talks and talks about something or other that involves vaginas, I feel no anxiety throughout the movie because i know there is a third one coming, i know Naomi and Ghost won't die because they are the main characters of the damned Matrix game, the "bullet time" or whatever was a hinderance i feel, they slowed down awkward parts like when she drives her motorcycle kinda fast, or someone punches neo, or Morpheous sneezes [you know you woulda loved that] and why can agent smith duplicate himself? and why is the duplicated but real life agent smith [??] helping the machines by setting off the emp?

ah well, at least i didn't pay to go see it and there wasn't an annoying guy who said "Neo" everytime neo did something cool and cheered along with the people at zion...

oh wait

edit: oh yea and for a comment from jess "I liked Neo's dress."

and the Genre tag in the game info section says adventure

the genre tag for Full Throttle says Action Adventure...

so they feel the need NOT to add action to the genre... very very interesting

i love the nose, i guess the only crit is that it looks like her [our] right foot breaks the ground line but if you just drew a ground line it would work better i think

i'd also like to take this time to be an ass and accept credit for bluecup being a female

hooray for me, i'm the reason you have erections!

hehe i like how this is a nice scary peek into even's mind

millions of people played Sims for millions of hours even, and the most you can do is slap people with the occasional dust cloud fight. sure you can lock someone in a room and wait 25 days for them to die or whatever but the "payoff" of killing someone is so small [You're sim is dead. sorry] that it's just not worth doing more than once, at least for me.

the sims is a game where you can do "anything" as long as it's in the games ability.

and i don't want there to be an adventure game equivelent of diablo because how many diablo clones were there? tons apon tons? didn't that kinda cheapen it for anyone? Diablo may have been groundbreaking or something i guess but only in concept, the story wasn't that super wow and the character development wasn't there at all [and i don't mean leveling [White Mage you have leveled up, you have 3 AP to add to Quiet Reserve, or Jovial Kindness]]

i also think it's kinda silly to say that adventure games like foa and all will NEVER port... comeon we need to think farther ahead than 6 months. we as humans on this board will be around for at least 60 more years, twice the length of gamings current age, if in 60 years people are still looking for gory blood games and nothing else, i will personally give fellatio to anyone that disagreed with me.

no one knows what will happen next, what fad will suddenly wow everyone and take over. who was expecting The Sims, who was expecting Doom [besides everyone[but i think the designers and the industry were surprised off their asses]] and who WHO i ask was expecting the spanish inquisition? i mean, it's their cheif weapon... one of at least

the plus side to graphical adventure games is that they are graphical, if we want them to grow and reach new audiences then we are in luck, i hate to say it but i can't see text adventures ever hitting a mass market again. the only reason is no pictures. So we have one up on them, the other plus side is the best way currently to tell a story is through an adventure game i believe. because they are so story driven blah blah we know all this.

and i think everyone forgets that there are adventure games still being made. you might not like them but they are still out there.

the same way many FPS games are made but only a few are good, back in the day many many adventure games were made but how many were tollerable?

i think i'll stop before i lose my train some more

General Discussion / Re:What are you reading?
Thu 08/05/2003 17:43:44
sirens of titan is one of the saddest books i ever read

ham on rye is one of the best books i've read, i think

the last book i read was Timbuktu by Paul Auster and the last comic i read were the Tijuana Bibles http://tijuanabibles.org

i started reading Naked Lunch for class but then we moved on and i haven't picked it back up

then i read Zero Girl by Sam Keith, the guy who did The Maxx and Four Women, and it was terrible...

now i'm reading some terry pratchett novel that i got for easter break but i can't find it or remember the title

you probably adjusted the opacity on accident

you can use the number keys to adjust it quickly or find the opacity slider and change it back to 100

depends on which version of photoshop you use is where the slider is

i love you more if not for the fact that the first random sentence i get when going to your site is a RIP for Donald Darko

you are my love machine, a hug and kiss machine
