Hey, this isn't really an appropriate thread because it will just devolve into badness.

I urge you to check out http://mobygames.com, they have a HUGE collection of games in their database and will help you learn all the names of adventure games through the ages.

QuoteAlso, I'm not being a hypocrite, what I meant by not being on the side of the pirates was I don't buy into "music must be free" or "I'm taking a stand on music prices!" ideology of stealing. I'm a cheap lazy thief...

Admitting you do it while denouncing it as thieving just makes you an honest hypocrite :P I don't think what you do should be called that though, or even that it's a negative thing, seeing as you're someone that spends a reasonable amount on media you like.

What about an honest thief? Or an unrepentant thief? I'm a thief dammit! I get in there, take the mp3s so quick that I leave the RIAA saying "What was that?! Huh... Musta been the wind..."

So yes, lower prices are good. And even though MrColossal asked Darth, my answer is 10 bucks.

QuoteIf a person pirates, they're on the side of the pirates.

A-fucking-men! Don't you just love hypocrits?  :-*

Voh, 10 bucks sounds good to me too! But I think I can live with the 9 dollars the average album I want goes for on Amazon's new mp3 store. Check it out if you haven't.

Also, I'm not being a hypocrite, what I meant by not being on the side of the pirates was I don't buy into "music must be free" or "I'm taking a stand on music prices!" ideology of stealing. I'm a cheap lazy thief...

If one really wanted to take a stand that had more impact, wouldn't one want to deprive themselves of that service they were boycotting? If you don't want to give money to the big companies buy the album used from a record store, support the record store and get the music, awesome! Or deprive yourself of all music not morally purchasable and suffer for the statement. It's a stronger statement that way, in my opinion.

So I'm confused, if something is too expensive in your eyes you have to have some sort of baseline you're judging it off of.. Something that is in your "price range" of reason. I'm also not talking to all the other pirates, I'm talking to you. I'm just curious what you think is too expensive. Albums generally seem to go for a dollar/dollar fifty a song?

I'm a pirate. I pirate because I'm lazy/cheap/a thief/not willing to accept the way the market is supposed to work. People will do this as long as it's relatively risk free and easy to do. I'm not on anyone's SIDE here because no one needs me on their side.

Darth, what's a good price for an album? What would you pay?

It costs my girlfriend probably 3 cents for a piece of paper. She then draws someone's portrait on it and sells it to them for 10 dollars... Frankly this is absurd and I'm going to start stealing portraits of myself from her from now on  until she charges me the proper price that I've arbitrarily set, not taking into account anything else but the single cost of a piece of paper!

Also, cars are expensive, and shoes too! These are all up for grabs now!

I loved TV links but then all their links upgraded to some new flash player and none of them worked in my Wii anymore... BOO!

Haiku Maybe Help has bounced back and forth from popular to Gen-Gen several times, as I recall.  Same with the post your picture thread. I like Gilbert's definition- sort of a time out space when people go on posting frenzies.

Then again, for me two posts in a month is a posting frenzy.

Dragon Rose, please, take a break from these forums... You've been posting so much in so many threads that you're frankly cluttering the place up... Maybe take a break for a couple of months, why not take up sewing! Don't make me move you to the Popular Threads section!

I think there's a lot of clean up to be done on these animations. As was mentioned, the face should be either hand pixelled or defined more in the texture so it appears in the render..

Also there's a line going down the center of his face on the front view.

There are also tons of strobing pixels on his jacket. Those should either be touched up by hand or fixed in the texture or render this with anti-alias turned on and use these animations as a mask to delete the AAed edges.

The straps on the front of his jacket also should be touched up by hand.

I'd not render this as 100% self illuminated, add some sort of self shadowing, especially where the jacket touches the body it's very noticeable.

On the side view his leg collapses into his ass. You can see the back pocket not moving at all. His knees also snap on the side view [well they snap on all of them but the side view is where you can see it].

His feet are pretty big and his pants look a little TOO baggy, almost cartoons of baggy pants. At least in the front and back views.

I'd recommend adding animation to his standing frame because if you're going to make animations in 3d you might as well take advantage of the ease of animating.

Did you animate this yourself?

Instead of just coming in here and insulting everyone who posted, why don't you point out problems with arguments and contribute to a better understanding of life?

Don't worry CJ, there will be another Mittens next year.

I know you're out but I HAVE to register my confusion...

You're reserving judgment on Jim Jones because you just don't know if he was God or not? Or Heaven's Gate? Maybe there was a spaceship behind Haley's Comet waiting to beam up their souls and bring them to heaven... We just don't have all the facts!

Confused.

So when do beliefs cross into the realm of "I'm sorry, you're wrong!", Darth? Surely it must at some point.

Joe believes in the Christian God [albeit his own version because it's nigh-impossible to find people with the same exact beliefs, like this is probably the first time I've heard that you can escape hell] and you accept his belief as personal.

Frank believes that he IS God. Is this a personal belief that you don't want to get tangled up in?

To continue my post with a hypothetical answer: "As long as he's not hurting anyone or himself, let him believe!"

What if Frank doesn't take his various medications that keep his body alive or treat infections because he can cure himself with the slightest thought? What if people start following him and believe that he is indeed God? What he says that he can take them all to heaven if they all kill themselves at the same time? Has this encroached on the idea "If people want to jump on boart with it, so be it!" at all? Extreme example but I'm trying to find when you'd cut this belief off.

I do not accept this laissez faire attitude. Learn about it, understand it, deconstruct it, accept or reject it. This applies to EVERYTHING THAT HUMANS DO, in my opinion.

And my question would be, what about the millions of people hurt by various religions all throughout the world?

The rebuttal to that is "Well, secular society hurts people too!" But I don't accept that as a proper rebuttal because it's not an answer, just trying to deflect attention and get out of an answer.

Anyway, most of this was hypothetical, I'd just like to know when things go from "I respect your belief" to "You are wrong."

I don't believe they even have a cat in the first place... THAT is the point.

thinking back, something a lot of people have asked for is the ability to zoom in on a background when placing objects and drawing walkables/behinds/hotspots/regions. I will never have the skill to write a plugin but the people that do, if you're looking for a suggestion from the various masses through time... There's one!

I used it in Time Out [cough cough] I made the intro and then started working on the actual game in a separate exe. I call the intro exe from within the main game when you choose the intro option on the menu.

This way I was able to distribute the Intro as a sort of teaser for the main game and then just release the main game.

I just haven't gotten around to that last part yet!

Why has no one brought up the fact that it's obviously the head of a twin absorbed in the womb that is finally making a break for it from your prison of a body...?

Tie a canvas bag around your arm all day and night, catch him and finish the job!

I would recommend partitioning your time up.

If you want to only spend an hour on it then when it gets close to when you want to stop make a new layer and say "This is my touch up layer" or something. Use this layer to add highlights and spot lights and darks and pick out edges of things like scotch said.

Other than that, I've never tried speed painting because I lack the confidence but hooray for you!
