Agreed. Abrams may bring with him a certain kind of marketing but he also brings with him a group of wanna be detectives who dissect everything in a "Why does he close his eyes on frame 154?! IT'S THE KEY TO THE WHOLE THING!" kind of way. Just wait for more announcements and see what happens!

On that subject, Space Boy, I recommend listening to Julia Sweeney's "Letting Go of God" [I haven't heard it all yet, just excerpts on This American Life] and in it she says that watching her brother die of cancer for years, chapped lips, reduced body weight, hair falling out, bleeding, chemo, pain, sleeplessness, morphine shots and all that... She concludes that compared to her brother "Jesus had a really bad weekend for your sins"

I'm afraid I'm going to have to arrest you on a violation of code 1985: Unlicensed Time Travel and a violation of code 2015: Spoiling the Future

His name is Kerry Allen, I think he might have gone back twice. Though one of those times might have just been to see friends.

A programmer here graduated from Full Sail in Florida. He goes back to talk to the classes every now and then...

I haven't really heard him say terrible things about the place but maybe I'm just not asking the correct questions.

Are you focusing on programming or art or what, Nick?

This thread encouraged me to finally get around to partaking in the Blasphemy Challenge. I wanted to do this some months ago but kept putting it off... So here we go!

I do think that people who have raped, then murdered a small and helpless child should be tortured and killed.

Let's just give the death penalty to all crimes. That will deter everyone from committing crimes. No more robberies, drive bys, or tax fraud, right? Also, what happens when someone is wrongfully accused of rape and murdered by the state? Can't make an omlette without breaking a few eggs?

RE: Below the Root

I always loved the way the game looked and made me feel but I never got anywhere in it. Recently I read the books the game came from, apparently the author got a lot of mail about the ending of the third book and so she decided to explain the ending more in the game. I'm eager to play Below the Root but not so eager about the walking dead...

I agree, this is what we have PMs for.

If you're counting the C64 as a console than I add Below the Root and Alice in Wonderland to the mix.

They were my first graphical adventure games and they hold a special place in my heart.

also: ebay link this seems like wishful thinking to me!

Are weather balloons made out of foil?  ???

Do you really think that the the army would be interested in a broken weather balloon? (Maybe they were trying to create a diversion or just spice up the media a bit, who knows) :P

afflict if you seriously want to know the answers to those questions, watch this:

I would say the purpose of life is to breed, personally.

I'm not saying he's lying. He could be deluded, confused, wrapped up in his own conspiracy theories for too long... And yes, I need some sort of statistics before I go assuming that dying people tell 100% unbiased truth, sorry? There are reasons to check up on things like this because it's very easy to fall into bad thinking.

also, reading up on him, his story changed around 2000, he decided he was more involved with the "incident" than he originally said and then he prepared a new story to be released upon his death.

Pointlessness of internet discussions, whatever... I ask a question and things go pointless all of the sudden. I'm personally quite interested in knowing if there is any data on deathbed confessions, it would help to come to a conclusion about this...

That... is completely different.

How intelligent would say a human was to just not know that there is no air in the ocean and jump in to explore it and drown in the process? Not very intelligent at all right?

Now imagine that human just travelled 200 million light years and drowned the first 2 minutes of arrival.

Also, I don't think Matt Groening even works on the Simpsons anymore... Maybe he came back for the movie but I do believe he's moved on to other things years ago.

We never really talked about religion or church in our house. My grandfather went to church but I think that was just because his wife died and then all his friends died and he needed something to do and some social interaction [holy shit that's depressing!]. One time my mother was talking to her sister and mentioned that we're not a really a believing family and she said "Oh Joanie... But you gotta believe!" in a sad tone.

That's about as far as that goes in my family. I've had to deal with more discussions with other family members talking about ghosts and taking photos of floating orbs and spiritualism than I have about Jesus loving me from another dimension...

Arthur, you're proposing a race of alien beings with such amazing technology that they can travel vast distances through space and yet don't realize that other planets have different gravity?

We're just normal humans with stone age technology compared to vast interstellar travel and we can calculate the gravity on planets we haven't even seen!
