I really don't get it. Why let go of the wiimote when doing a gesture? That would put stress on the strap and break it. "They didn't let go, they have sweaty palms" O..k, why are you putting so much strength into your gestures? Because you are probably over compensating for what you need to do.

Just to bring his last point out of the depths and into the light. There are also people who I didn't really notice for various reasons and then they post in a debated thread and I gain all sorts of respect for them and actively seek their opinion on various matters.

Debates don't just bring out the worst in people so you can find out what kind of jerk you're really talking to.

I have to expand on what Brother Evenwolf said about dumb stuff... I hate QFT [quoted for truth] and all the little one liner "haha you're stupid/awesome" things people do on other forums.

On the AGS forums, more often than not, when someone has an opinion they state it either in a long ass post or a concise one. People don't just go "shut up yer gayeh" and then link to smileys shooting shotguns at each other. We don't usually TRY to turn a thread into a flame bait thread. Sometimes threads don't degenerate and I wonder if those "successes" are forgotten to the degenerated ones.

The thing is, discussions about adventure games on these forums sometimes degenerate into stereotyping and name calling. It isn't just high risk threads like religion or what-have-you. People who say "Why are you talking about this on an ADVENTURE GAME FORUM!" are also missing the point of the community that exists here. I personally have a bunch of interests and a bunch of friends I made on this forum. We have a bunch of interests that are equal to or varied from each other, I want to talk about these interests or differences with them, where is the best place? Why, how about the place I met them!

When someone has made it clear that they find a particular word offensive, I don't see where it's ok to continue using it and pushing it on the person that objects to it, regardless of the circumstances. As m0ds said, we should respect how other people feel.

Yes but he also continued to read the thread that he found offensive. If it were a different thread and people were talking about, say, religion, and a user didn't like people saying bad things about their religion, is it up to the posters to stop all discussion or the reader to stop reading that which they find offensive?

Either way, no one PMed me about this thread and wishing it to be locked and I stopped paying attention after so many posts so that's why I didn't lock it. That's why I didn't intervene Mods.

That doesn't make the culture violent, Janik. If people made violent games because there was violence in the street then maybe.. But even so, I feel it'd be hard to proove that. Especially when violent games rarely take place in the streets or in contemporary times.

There's also a huge market for romance novels but I never see people saying because we live in a romantic society.

But your parenting and upbringing or what have you created a fairly rational person that doesn't do everything a movie shows them.

Therefore you can watch violent movies and play violent games with no fear of becoming a murderer.

But this reminds me of a situation over in America a while back. A young black school kid said "shut up, nigga" to his teacher (who was white), who responded with "go to the principal's office, nigga" (italics for emphasis, as seems appropriate after having heard the teacher repeat the way he said it in a newsclip). That teacher was suspended (don't know exactly whether he got fired, but he definitely got suspended).

I wouldn't say that's wrong. If a kid swears at a teacher is it ok for the teacher to swear back? If a kid hits a teacher is it ok for a teacher to hit the kid back? If a kid uses a derogatory term at a teacher is it ok for the teacher to use one back?

Some people complain of The Man holding them down when there are other factors involved, not race.
