Thanks Sergio!
I did wonder if the switching characters would be confusing - or not clear that it could be done, and I wanted to keep the game word-free. So I put in that little hint arrow for the first few which hopefully got the idea across.

Eggie - thanks, glad you enjoyed it! (I think it was sort of an in-joke of mine that the last puzzle seems the most complex but the solution is the most mundane)
Embla - thanks! I haven't heard of that but I'll check it out
Cassie - at the moment there is no save/load function (the whole game lasts approx 10-15 minutes) but I think I will add one in.

It shouldn't be possible to progress while missing an item though - to leave each room you have to take the new item in it (unless I've made a mistake somewhere!)

Heh, hope it's not too haunting... I was going for "nostalgic" but things always end up a little darker than I intend ;)

If anyone's small child is creeped out by the music I'll do something a little brighter, like this

Thanks for the lovely comments guys!
Mehrdad that made my day :)
(I could have sworn I posted a reply yesterday but it doesn't seem to have worked)

@CaptainD - that's nice to hear! I started to get the feeling while making it that I was making a kid's game without actually meaning to, so I'm happy to hear she liked it.

@Cassiebsg - I had a feeling gamejolt didn't work for everyone but couldn't remember. I've uploaded a mirror now to the game page - let me know if you have any problems.

Haha, having just uploaded a MAGS yesterday this topic seems pretty appropriate. I was actually planning to comment on this thread saying "good luck but I'm too burnt out after November to try and do it all again!"

Maybe being burnt out is the perfect time to do this one... maybe a half-baked mess of a game about a guy failing to make a game (laugh)
I have been meaning to make a sequel to Man Giving Up called Man Giving Up Too.

I just read a whole page of comments talking about issues with the download link before realising that they were from 13 years ago...

Created in a busy month for MAGS November 2015...

Song Animals is a short adventure puzzle game, featuring a variety of strange and fantastic creatures on a quest to free their friends. Explore surreal watercolour worlds and use the power of music to rescue your animal friends!

Hope you enjoy!

Mandle - good fun, thought the audio particularly did a really good job of upping the intensity. Nice ending :-D

Eggie - not sure how far I got but it seems pretty epic for MAGS! Really nice animation, especially the different facial expressions for the speech. I was enjoying it up until I got this crash:

Spoiler

in "GlobalScript.asc", line 88
from "GlobalScript.asc", line 177
Error: AnimateCharacter: invalid loop number specified

This happened just after trying to climb back up the pipe you slide down.
[close]

Also the "continue" button didn't work for me - unless I'm supposed to save during the game and didn't realise...?

If anyone else gets a crash at the end of Song Animals please let me know as I haven't been able to reproduce this.

Good points Selmiak and Mandle. As those puzzles only require clicking on something they seem really obvious to me, but for someone who's never played it before it's probably not clear what can even be clicked on. And I didn't consider a save feature necessary as the game is so short - but again, it's short for me because I made it!

So I'll probably add:
- save option
- cursor change on clickable objects

However I guess to be fair these should only be added after voting is over? Not sure of the rules on stuff like this.

Hey I'm first to finish?!
I put it down to being in Australia where it is now nearly midnight...

So anyway here we go, presenting:

I feel like I stretched the theme here somewhat, having made a game that doesn't actually have any words in it. But it is still a game about monsters "rhyming" in a way. All the art in this one was done by my sister.
Good luck to the others in your last few hours - looking forward to playing what you've come up with!

And now I'm going to bed.

Ah yeah - I guess today is the third last day. But as I'm back to work on Monday the 30th, I'm not really including that one as I know I'll barely have time to do anything except upload the files (hopefully)

I'm... nearly there. A long list of things to fix/add. What do we have now, about 48 hours? The play length of my game is shorter than I was expecting based on the amount of work! But it starts, and (almost) ends, with stuff in the middle. I think I can finish it in the next 2 days and honestly call it a "game"

p.s. awesome title screen Eggie!

That looks really cool Chicky - I think the video wobble & compression adds to the atmosphere! I wonder if there's any way of getting that effect into the engine...
#35
Trying to draw just gives me a blister, so for this one I've enlisted the help of my sister...

Wow it's been a while, but I'm going to go ahead and declare my attempt to get something done for this month. Oh and also I can't think of any rhymes for my post. Ah, I've failed already! (laugh)

Rock Paper Shotgun: "STASIS is the best adventure game I've played in years"

That's a pretty awesome pull quote to have! I'll need to check this out when I have the time...
Just out of curiosity, what engine is it made with?

Love the style of this, it looks fantastic. And seeing the words Blade Runner, Brazil and Neon Genesis together is making me pretty keen to play this :)
That main menu theme really sets a nice atmosphere too.

Wow, that colour scheme alone is just instant childhood nostalgia! I never owned a Gameboy but I remember borrowing a friend's one at school and it was just the most amazing thing. That must be... 25 years ago? 8-0
Anyway looks great, good luck with it!

This post is mostly just an excuse to toot my own horn (as I haven't had a good old toot in a long time)

But also, I'm guessing there may be a Warhammer fan or two around here, so I thought I'd mention that I wrote the soundtrack for this game called Warhammer 40,000: Regicide that has just been released on Steam (Early Access) today. To sum it up real quick, it's basically chess set in Warhammer 40k where you can also throw grenades and shoot rockets. I'm sure it's by far the violent-est version of chess ever made, as evidenced by this epic kill sequence trailer:
