And 99.9999999999999999% that it wasn't in the original CD...

I don't see the problem, Vel, as the wiser way to make what Petter demmands should be using that painiting as the basic layer and go on over that... the darkness is no problem, and you cann allways make it brighter with your Painting program...

I am going to participate!

All of us would be crap if working with the inappropiate tools... use layers, line tool, brush... Painting is all about knowing how to use the tools, and I just see freehand in the outlines... This is just an advice... use more tools.  :)

Looks good-- I think the water moves too much in the distance, though. The distant waves are the same size as the close ones, and with the illusion of depth in the picture, it appears that there are stormy seas in one part of the river and calm in another part..

NOW I SEE IT!!!  :o You meant the waters below the bridge, not the ones in the close take compared with the waterfall... Thanks for the explanation to you too,SSH...

Oh... this has been the funniest and  tecnically the best entry so far... unfortunatelly the penalty of -20 makes it fall to the sencond place!

:-\ Mmmf... Sorry about that Daniel...  ;D

If you become a danger for the society, (you kill or something) you are displaced from the society (You go to jail).

IMO, if you become a danger for the virtual society, you'd be taken out from the virtual society (A.K.A. Virus makers should be send to a desert island without computers  ;D).

But I think we're all together in this, as we're creators and the virus makers are destroyers... Shame on them.

I've been taking a look to all the backgrounds in this series I've made so far... They have some kind of problem of messing styles,as Erwin pointed, but I can't really feel it like odd, at seems to have some kind of pattern...

I don't know how to explain it, ( ??? ) but, even being noticeable, the messed styles don't look that bad.

BTW, yes Petteri, I'll put more effort for adding details in the BG, not all is going be "oil painted" but I'll test to make it more consistent all together.

What is the porpuse of doing all the likes "shaking"? Is it some kind of attempt to create a goofy style? I am sorry to say that it does not work... Don't you have the straight line tool? It is a powerfull tool for those who don't want to work in a zoomed image, pixel by pixel... I would recommend to use it, look at the tree... does it look natural? Nah... less freehand, more line tool, is my advise, you'll finish sooner and the result will be better.

I am not going to join that team.

Mmm... thanks for that... I'll take a look because, as you pointed, I used the very same figures for both parts of the river.

But I'm not sure of it, since the water in the long take is a waterfall, which must be very stormy, and the waters in the first take must be more quite.

I'll keep you all informed.

Here it is what I got thanks to SSH... I think that a new layer to put some pixels pretending to be waves should make it even better.

I am quite happy with this, as I am not a profi... I've seen worse animations in some oldies...

the floating leaf is going to be... but It will have to be an object, as this is expected to be a 5-frames animated background and the leafs needs at least 10 (If less, it seems a water-rocket, trust me...  ;))

Shbaz, if you don't want to enter in the ranking, I must assume that you're considering it in the "despective" sense or something, not in the harmless definition you wrote above... In my opinion this is most about curiosity, because we canfigure how do most of the AGSers look, but not his shape...

I personally don't care about the height or weight... Minimi has the chance to be a good basketball player, but he will never win a Grand National Prix... Maybe Custard will never beat me climbing the Alps with my bike, but I'll never be such a good half melee as he is...

I don't want to start a discussion about which is the correct sense of the word ranking, just pointing that I don't really understand your reply...

Just that...

Foz, if you want to make the attempt, make me know... Just one screen... Just a test. No matter when you'll be free, I'll remember this, go on with your project and make me know when you'll be ready.

And pliz, watch Ryan!  ;)

Thanks to all... I am going to go on with the bg, by the way... I wanna see what do I archieve...

Critics' Lounge / Water animation, again...

Hello...

I know that people has asked before about water animations, and yes, I am a lazy ass and never saved that urls with that nice tutotials... I thought I was never going to need them, but hey! now an enterprise called Mappomedia hired me to make some backgrounds! And if I make them ok they'll pay me!

Here is what I get... My question is... is there a better way to do it? I would do it in a so much easier way with less colours, but I like that "oil painting" feeling... I remember sierra did it fairly well, are there any tutorials or something? Thanks for all, and, as it has black outlines, feel free to download the image, paint the river with a filling colour with a lot of tolerance, and make your attempt! It will be apreciated!

I am very into military tactics because I've been watching "band of Brothers" and other stuff, like "private Ryan" and "Blackhawk down"...

I was just wondering (I was close to ask you, by PM) if there's possible to make a lot of military tactics to be made in order to archieve something...

For example, remember "Private Ryan"? the first scene at Omaha? Have it in mind, because I wish to do something about it.

I would really like to see a recreation of that... let me put an example.

1) All the "soldiers" advance from the disembarking ships to the beaches in "Run till find shelter" mode(A special action) Some of them are killed (we could put a percentage in each  region, where there is a percentage of soldiers killed per second).

2)then, they blow the fence with bombs... they advance to other shelter...

3) The "information officer" will have to take a look... he has more chances to take a look over that corner without being killed (maybe he is a character that don't get killed when he looks, whereas the others have just a 50% to survive, or something?)... The black part on the screen is revealed now, we see there is a machine gun nest and a place which can work as coverage for a man.

4) They must send a sniper to kill the nazi's (punctuation with in-joke  ;D), but it gets killed if we don't make the others to start "shelter fire" another feature...

5) The sniper has to "run till finding shelter"... he can't be killed now, he is in a safe region. he kills the Germans in the machine gun nest... the others advance...

(END of mission)

Is that possible to be done or the necessary scripting lines to archieve it make the project too overwhelming for any sane AGSer?

Please tell me, I am very interested to do it... someone remembers "commandos", by Pyro studios? That's the reference... If someone wants to script that screen I mentioned before, make me know, by PM or something, I'll do the art and I'll post it as an open source...

FOZ... sorry for using your thread, but... you could be that man...  :)
