thats just gonna be a big mess of if statements GetInvAt(x,y) , I wanna try and avoid that if possible. But I may have no choice

I think AJA's outline plugin would over complicate things. plus increase filesizes when it wouldnt need it. You could however great a font outliner as a seperate tool from ags the simply generates sci-fonts normal/outline/shadowed.

CJ please make it so.

I have 6 slots to display items , with arrows that scroll it left and right.

Is there anyway of getting the index of the item that you clicked on??

I know game.top_inv_item returns the index of the 1st slot but what I need is a way of returning the index of the seleceted item.

Importing ttf font are exellent , but I find myself wanting some font with outlines or shadows.

Would it be possible to import a font then have a box displaying whether you wanted it imported as normal or having AGS make an outlined version and shadowed version of it.

Recently I made a bit 'o script to position a bit of text near your mouse cursor to tell you what you are mouse overing...

My first thought was to do a GUI with an @Overhotspot@ label... so off I went.

Also RobertEric came up with a similar script in size to do it the Text Overlay way.

Both ways worked, but the Text Overlay doesnt Overlay any GUI's on screen,
whereas if you used the GUI @Overhotspot@ way it would (that is if your GUI was a higher number than the ones you wanted to overlay).

Which way takes less resource out of a game? positioning a transparent GUI with a text label or a text overlay??

Will there be an option for text overlay to Overlay GUI's in the future??

P.S. (if anyone is interested in the code msg me)

I had a look around the site for a current bug list but could find one.. do you have one? In which case I don't know if you know this or not but I've been having a bug lately thats been driving me batty!

Everyonce in a while , normally when I add buttons to a GUI, a button will go missing off another GUI. Or at one point I had a button on ONE gui changing to whatever i set a button on another GUI to.

The only thing noticable was it always happened around Object 8.

If it happends again I will try and be more descriptive about it.

Heh this does have to be one of the closest i've seen :) Well evil voted for me , i think i'll vote for evil , I do like the bumpy straight lines in it I must admit... Im not sure if thats intentional or the result of a scanned in pic or what, but looks cool.

Setlabeltext should work, make sure its in the repeatidly execute function, there is a tutorial i think in the lucas art style GUI about this that comes with AGS

Wow my tut is getting used already and I only put it up the otherday.. I did today though have to make a minor correction in the code, so if you copied the code and wondered why it isnt working try it now, but it wasnt a biggy you may have resolved the problem yourself.

Indeed it is possible to do more or less anything with a gui if you know script and sometimes its easier than you think , the code for scrolling an inventory left is only 3-4 lines of code!

EDIT: Oh I also added my copy of the game directory in which I coded the GUI you you can d/l and go through the code yourself.

Thanks your your responses, I sure could do an art tut , but theres still some better artists out here in the AGS community than me so even I'm still earning the tricks. However I'm sure you'll see one on my site soon.

I didnt mind the Talk/Look/Speech Coin of MI3/Full Throttle , but for simple usabilty , and quickness i'd have to go for Beneath a steel sky..

I created a similar one in my mags game ages ago (click link in sig to see game)

Eventually i'm gonna put a few free Gui's and scripts on my site so people can grieve less over GUI's
