Best Idea - Venus.  I really fell in love with it :) Steve McCrea made me laugh, and having a meal at "The Four Horsemen" is an intriguing idea.
Best Design - Rel wins here. Very immersing through excellent use of lighting, and of course the mist.  Great walls, wires and whatnot.
Best Functionality - Darth Mandarb. Being a very strong contender in all four categories, he deserves at least one, and there's no doubt this BG would suit a game perfectly.
Best Technique - Rel again! Excellent brushing. Hard to believe this is 320x200.

This was a great Blitz, largely thanks to Andail's theme. All contributions are really good! I must mention his out-of-competition BG too, as it would have been a tough competitor.

Great work, Rel! Hats off to Darth, Flosk and Mordalles too.

BJORN!!!!  You're still alive!!!  (nice BG too!)

Thanks, I know! Feels great! I was swallowed by real life for a while, and feel bad about not letting you know. That being said, the game (AOK) looks better than ever, great job :)

That's a very common mistake, most often made before the famous theories of Aristotle, Eratosthanes and some others...

...or you could have been good friends with the scripter, witness his harddrive breakdown and agree it'd be a good idea to hide for a little while. ;)

hehe I agree, the ending the 7das was good until the second ending popped up for no reason

The twist was hinted at early in the game (as pointed out by Yahtzee on the Authors Commentary on the SE), thus was planned from the beginning.

It might still not be a very good ending, but personally I don't mind it. Classic horror. Same with the last few frames. And many other parts of it.

I think the way you draw facial expressions is great! That has thankfully been preserved in the Flash (or whatever you use) version (no surprises there - I've seen some of your animations:) ). The lettering lose it's personality though.  What about "handwriting" them in flash (preferrably with a tablet)? I know it's not easy, but you could keep the typed text (with a slightly bigger font) on a different layer and draw on top of that.

I also love the structure of the paper you drew the first strips on, maybe you could implement that in some way too.

Nothing wrong about the actual content, I love it!

Looking good! Can't wait to play this.

This is not the forum for criticizing, but I think those outlines are a bit heavy. If you only got rid of the "double pixels" it would look even better  ;)

Yes, it's about time to pick the winner!

I like all the entries, amazing what you could come up with!

Mr. Mozzarella's entry is very charming. It's a perfect situation to put John the Shy One in, and I love that he makes sure noone is looking before he waves! Maybe some more work could've been put into eg. the waving hand, which seems a bit "cheap" (I always animate cheaply myself though so I should not speak). Anyway good job, and the personality is there!

Zooty's animation looks professional (even if the sprite I made is pretty bad, I mean look at his arm!). Cool toony details (eyes and hair), and the blushing is perfectly accomplished. Great timing!

Mousemat made a very surreal entry, could be a commercial for some "get-your-hair-back" product, maybe. It might be a little off-topic, but then again... maybe it isn't? This question has haunted me. Anyway, I think something like this would be a cool transmission to a flashback! Mousemat is like the artist noone understands here, and therefore, unfortunately, he cannot win (because they never do).

Great entries, but there was no doubt I had to choose Seleceus. The situation is perfectly displayed, and it's a fantastic situation too. He's backing into that toilet so quickly, just the way a shy man would do, but still you get a glimpse of his clumsy looks and the blushing (and sweat from his armpit!). It's perfectly timed, it boosts character. A few frames of brilliance. Congratulations, everyone did a great job, but we have a winner: Seleceus!

What happens is this:

A base sprite is supplied, and a theme. Participants must use the given sprite for their animation.
This is done mostly so people who feel their drawing skills aren't to par can participate as well.

Each competition will last 11 days.

The starter of each competition will decide on the winner.

The winner, who will decide on the next competition's theme, must also supply a sprite. It doesn't have to be an amazing piece of art. Just something that won't be too hard to animate.

This time: John the Shy one

Meet John, a very shy person. Maybe a bit nervous too. You can animate him doing whatever you want (walking, talking, dancing, whatever), but his shyness have to shine through. It should also be suited for family viewing.

Good luck!

Hmmm... I missed it yes, I never thought I'd win. Well, I'll put up a new one then. Will just have to create a sprite first.

... but wasn't Eggies pasted too? I'm confused! Why don't we start the whole competition over to make sure noone is breaking the rules?  :P

I found an online czech translator here but the outcome was very puzzling: "(...)Zooreal něčekaně widely , long plus splendidly technicky accomplishment sport.(...)" ???

Heh I know  :) But he was even more freaky without the scrolling, as he appeared to be dancing on a turd :-[

Yours is brilliant though! Nice job!

It's a happy Roger, in slow motion...

He's not finished, still quite messy... but I had enough of him ::)

The best part is going to bed after having finished.
