Raggit: Sorry to hear about your loss.  Putting a pet (and a friend) down to sleep must be extremely difficult.

I refused to get anymore pets after all of the ones I had when I was younger died on me.  (Only because I wasn't taking care of them properly :P)

However, the cat and dog that my mom still has are both getting very old.  I can remember having both of them as far back as when I was six.

Frankie (the cat) is getting a lot of gray hairs, and his meow is a very raspy "mya".

Maggie (the dog) has really surprised me.  I'm 24 now... if my mom got her when I was 6... that would make her 18 years old.  I didn't know dogs could even live that long.  Anyway, it's obvious that she should be put to sleep; she gets seizures, has some sort of abscess under her eye that is always leaking pus, and flinches at every loud noise you make.  But my mom is being quite foolish.  She seems to think that with a little TLC the dog will get better.

If you're the same "Jodo" that I'm thinking of, you were an annoying pain in the ass back then, and after two posts today, you still haven't changed.

Here's a hint:  If you want to "rise above the trolls" -
1. Don't dig up month-old threads.
2. Don't bad mouth the tolerability of the forums (like you would really know anything about that)
3. You and your team can just shut the hell up and work on your game, and don't mind the other people who you so callously label as "trolls".

The forums are intolerable, but no one's perfect.

Obviously, you are under the assumption that you are.

I'll check back in 3 more years and see if it has improved.

Please, don't.

I have been here for... what? 4 years? And I haven' t released a game because I am ultra-prefectionist...

I've been here for about the same amount of time, possibly a little longer, but I also believe that to be the reason I've never finished a game.

Would it qualify for this contest if I released a demo of a game?  Also, can it be a game I've been working on for a few years already?

I have my old Packard Bell with 3.11 sitting in the basement.  I was actually contemplating on throwing it in a dumpster behind some restaurant here in town, seeing as the garbage men won't take electronics.

The Fog - Worst hours of my life right there.

I don't think The Fog is that bad. Not brilliant, but entertaining enough. And not necessarily in a "so bad it's good" way.

Which Fog are you talking about?  The old one, or the newer one?

It wasn't really all that bad, but I figured it fits here: Dead Meat

Oh, and Dog Soldiers.

Avoid MS Paint if you're into art, or efficiency.

I've seen some pretty good pixel art that's been done in MSPaint.

The function to place individual pixels on a screen isn't quite enough to make a good, efficient painting program these days...

I'll agree, MSPaint really isn't very efficient.  But it certainly is a lot easier to use, and to figure out than most of the paint programs I've tried.

As far as the pixel art goes; to create a pixel art masterpiece like these, you need skill.  It doesn't matter what program you're using to do it.

I hope this isn't too insulting but IMO Iron Maiden isn't a metal band.

Whatever genre a certain band falls into can be completely open to opinon from person to person (I personally think labeling is dumb).  But for the most part, I think Medical Waste was correct.  Power Metal, as I understand it, is characterized by the inclusion of keyboards, high-pitched (somewhat opera-like) vocals, and the focus on the "epic" sound.

Unless, you mean to say that Power Metal isn't a real form of metal.  I could almost agree with that, because I think it sounds like a heavier version of Queen.

I don't really see what's so great about Iron Maiden.  I have a friend who is really into them, and he gave me one of their CDs, and it didn't do anything for me at all.  It's only my personal opinion, but Bruce Dickinson sounds like his pants are too tight.  Even the guitar work didn't really grab my attention.  Whatever, I guess I just don't have a taste for this kind of music.

One thing I've noticed, though; a trend, if you will.  Iron Maiden is getting popular again.  They're showing up in guitar and music magazines, they won a poll in Guitar World for "Best Comeback" in 2006 (whatever the hell that means).  I think they even released a CD recently.

At the same time, bands like Dragonforce are getting are getting popular.  They won just about every category in the Guitar World poll I just mentioned.

The two bands sound like the same kind of music to me, is my point.  So, that style of music must be the thing these days.

Since I'm surrounded by Iron Maiden fans, would any of you like to buy the CD I mentioned above?  I was going to sell it on e-Bay, unless someone here wants it...

Critics' Lounge / Re: Some Mp3s

I listened to them.

I liked the first one, "Overworld".  It kind of reminded me of that old PS1 game, Parasite Eve.  "Sad and Alone" reminded me somewhat of Silent Hill-type music, only the koto-sounding instrument gave it more of a Nine Inch Nails, "Closer" feel.

As for "Horror"... I dunno.  The title just doesn't sum it up, I think.  It's got somewhat spooky atmosphere to it, but it almost sounds like music from a very bad modern horror movie.

All in all, I liked the first and last songs.  Keep up the good work.  :)

You don't need to cover up their names, Vince.

I already know that the guy on the left is Dave Baksh from Sum 41...

...and the guy in the middle is Kevin Smith.

"What do you think of this side boob?  Do you like that?  Does it turn you on?  Well it shouldn't, because that's my side boob."

The side boob hour.  I love it.

I hear he's popular with the ladies.

If you actually think about it, that statement was just wrong on so many levels.
