I went and saw it today.  It was long, but I loved it.

I thought the first scene with the kraken attacking the trader ship was awesome, kinda terrifying.  Especially with the pipe organ music in the background.

The pirates in Davy Jones' crew were cool, too.  I loved the character designs.  I think I might actually pay to see a spin-off about Davy Jones and his crew.

But, yeah.  My major gripe was that I have to wait to find out how Sparrow is going to settle his debt with Davy Jones.  When I heard it was going to be a trilogy, I thought it was going to be 3 separate movies.  Instead, they decided to try and turn it into this huge pirate epic (a-la LOTR, and Star Wars).  At least when I saw the first movie, I was content with the ending.

Massive Ren & Stimpy influences! Can't be bad.

But about 50% of Ren and Stimpy is unwatchably bad...

Now Rocko's Modern Life on the other hand...

I oughta smack you for saying both of those things.

So where's this baby you're talking about?

EDIT:  I'm just kidding.  I'm trying to watch Reel 1 now.  :P

While I'm not exactly ecstatic to see it, I never thought I'd see SPAM poetry again.

I just downloaded Nvu.  I haven't had a chance to try it out, yet, but I appreciate the recommendation.  Hopefully this will be what I'm looking for.

General Discussion / CSS editors.
Mon 19/06/2006 09:19:16
I've been trying out several different stylesheet editors, and I'm not really finding any that I like too much.  I guess it could be because I really don't know a whole lot about CSS quite yet...

Right now I'm trying one called Cascade DTP V4.  It seems close to what I'm looking for, but it also seems kind of... limited.  I mean, it will only let me set the page width to 1000px.  (What the crap?... I have my screen resolution set to 1024 x 768, and I can't create a page that will fit my screen?  That's kind of lame).  That, of course, is only one of the complaints I have about it.

I downloaded the HTML editor, 1st Page 2000, and I liked it.  I thought I had read somewhere in there about CSS, but it turns out it only had a CSS reference.  1st Page 2006 has CSS capabilities, but it out of my price range right now.

So, can anyone recommend a CSS editor?  I'd prefer if it was freeware (yeah, I'm cheap... so shoot me).

EDIT:  Oh yeah, I'm ONLY looking for a program that will allow me to create and edit external stylesheets.  I realize I can incorporate my stylesheets directly into my HTML source, but I'd like to save time (if I'd suddenly like to change the entire layout of the whole site).

Castlevania.  Ah, Uwe Boll and Paul Anderson continue their exploits to defile and milk videogames for everything they can get.

Yeah, I don't trust Uwe Boll after that p.o.s., Bloodrayne.  I heard the game was actually supposed to be pretty good, too.

What are books?

*Looks it up on Wikipedia.*

It says right in the Wiki article that both of those initialisms are false.  False etymologies of the word "fuck".

However, lo_res_man is somewhat correct about the origin of the word:
Quote from: Wikipedia
It is unclear whether the word had always been considered impolite and, if not, when it was initially considered to be profane. Some evidence indicates that in some English-speaking locales it was considered acceptable as late as the 17th century meaning "to strike" or "to penetrate"[1]. Other evidence indicates that it may have become vulgar as early as the 16th century in England. Other reputable sources such as the Oxford English Dictionary contend the true etymology is still uncertain but appears to point to an Anglo-Saxon origin that in later times spread to the British colonies and worldwide.

I love Wikipedia.

Hi... Think is Kandyman. I think I have a problem. For a while now I've ben drinking too much and too often. since september of last year. I lost my currrent job, current girlfirend and

I can empathize with you on that.  I think I was in your shoes about two years ago, right around this time (with the exception of the musical show... I'm not exactly the song and dance type  :P).  I ended up going to AA for a few months.

I guess, if you really feel that you have a serious, uncontrollable problem, and your life is going to shit because of it, then definitely check out AA.

See, I thought I really had a problem.  All I could think about was getting drunk, like it was going to solve my problems.  I checked out AA, and I sobered up.

But also, I have to mention that AA is not for everyone.  While AA was there to help me, I found that it wasn't that hard to let go of the bottle.  I haven't gone in a long time, but I'm still 99.9% better than I was before.  They say, "Once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic".  Which leads me to beleive that I was never an alcoholic.  I still go out and have a beer once in a blue moon... Only because I CAN, not because I HAVE TO.

You have my support.  Totally.  If you want some real words of wisdom, I'd recommend talking to DGMacphee.  While AA is nice, I feel that it's too religiously involved.  DG has a nice, "no bullshit" way of explaining things.

Quite a comprehensive list you have there, Terran.  Good job.

Well, these are only my thoughts on a few:
Ghost Rider - I saw the preview for this when I saw X-Men 3.  Nicholas Cage wouldn't have been my first choice, but he is a decent actor.  He seemed to pull off his acting quite well in the few moments I saw of him in it.  The movie looks freakin' awesome.  Ghost Rider himself is obviously mostly CG, but I guess that's something that Hollywood wouldn't have been able to do otherwise (without it looking like crap).  I whispered to my girlfriend "We're going to see that one."  She rolled her eyes.

Revenge Of The Nerds - Of all the things to be remade, I never thought this would be one of them.  It sounds like something I might see, I remember some of the original.  I guess I'd have to see a trailer to pre-judge it.  It'd be cool if they got a bunch of modern-day nerds to play in it, like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Morgan Webb and Adam Sessler. :P  Since we're on this topic, did anyone see the VERY LAST "Nerds" movie?

American Pie 5 - Jesus H. Christ.  Let it go already.  They're obviously going to milk this for all it's worth.  I saw that straight to DVD "Band Camp" thingy with Stiffler's younger brother, it wasn't horrible.  It was somewhat funny, had a lot of hot girls, I guess it was worth a rent.  But one thing is certain, these movies get lamer and stupider every time they make a new one.

Would you walk into a bar, and start a conversation with a girl about your bowel movements?
No, but I have had conversations with other parents about my children's bowel movements...

Is that what I have to look forward to in fatherhood?...  Argh!  Someone get me out of here!  (just kidding :P)

Actually, when I was younger, I got my mouth washed out with soap a few times for saying "crap".  I didn't know why, though.  I always thought "crap" was a sort of generic version of "shit".

I guess my mom must have accidentally bought too much palmolive, and came up with that lame excuse to get rid of some.

I can only guess that the answer is somewhere in history.  But, if you actually think about it, it makes a lot of sense.

Take the word, "shit".  What is the meaning of the word "shit"?  Fecal matter.  Stool.  Poo-poo.  Doody.  Dung.  Would you walk into a bar, and start a conversation with a girl about your bowel movements?  Of course, "shit" is not a word that you would say in the presence of others.

How about "ass"?  An "ass" is, simply put, a burro or donkey.  Somewhere along the line, "ass" became where "shit" comes from.  Your butt.  Bunghole.  Poopchute.  Balloon knot.  Take my example from "shit", and replace "bowel movements" with "cornhole".

A "bitch" is a female dog.  Somewhere along the line, this became an insulting way to describe or refer to a woman, by calling her a female dog.  So, when your mom asks you where you and your date are going, you wouldn't say, "I'm taking my bitch to the movies."  You may soon find yourself "bitch"-less, and probably getting your mouth washed out with soap.

Now... "Fuck".  That's an interesting word.  I have no clue as to it's origins, and even though it seems to fall into any word category (noun, verb, adjective, etc), I have no idea what it originally started out as.
EDIT:  I looked it up on Wikipedia, here.  I always knew that it meant to have sexual intercourse, but I didn't know if that's what it originally started out as.  In the olden days, sex was supposed to be something kept between two people who loved each other (not just out of manners, but also thanks to the bible).  Take the saying, "...A gentleman never tells."  If it's only supposed to be between you and your lover, then you wouldn't even mention the word in public.

"Damn" is used to describe someone who is going to "hell" when they die, I believe.  I guess it could be frowned upon, because only the man upstairs knows who is and who isn't going to "hell".  Who are you to say who is "damned", and who isn't?  "Goddamn" would be a double-whammy, because you're also taking the lord's name in vain (something that people didn't do because of the ten commandments, "Thou shalt not take the lord's name in vain, or bear false witness".)

As I stated before, "hell" is where the "damned" go.  "Hell", of course, is a place viewed as being filled with flames, magma, screaming, and eternal suffering.  You wouldn't want to go there, so why would you talk about it or think about it?

So, these words aren't necessarily "bad".  I assume at one point in time it just became customary to not speak these words aloud in the presence of others, or not at all, for the sake of class and manners.  But, nowadays, even "fuck" doesn't have a whole lot of shock value anymore (...and to think, "fuck" is supposed to be the godfather of all four letter words...).  And with the way that people treat each other now, it doesn't surprise me that some people don't understand why these words are viewed as "bad".

The stickers say "parental advisory".  They are advising parents that the songs may contain lyrics or whatever that may not be suitable for young children to hear.

I always thought it meant, "Don't let your mom find out that you have this CD".

I've never had a problem with the stickers, I'd rather buy an album with a sticker than be forced to buy and edited album.  (Well you know, if certain people get their panties in a bunch over a few "naughty" words...) I'd say do the sticker thing.  People are so easily offended, that it's not even funny.

Sometimes I fail to see the point behind the sticker.  Take Cannibal Corpse's album, Tomb Of The Mutilated.  It has a sticker, but you can't understand a single thing that the singer is saying.
