I had about 2 million female friends who always said, "but you're the perfect guy ... any girl would be lucky to have you!"

You can only hear that shit so many times before you simply stop listening.

You and I were separated at birth, weren't we?

I guess I missed the point of this topic, but I thought my valentine's day was kind shitty.

Bitching below:

Spoiler
The last girl I was dating called me and left a message on my phone. Ã, I thought she called to say happy v-day (seeing as we agreed to remain friends), but no. Ã, She only called to ask about some of her stuff that I dropped off at her house when we broke up. Ã, She also said that she was going to leave my things at my friend's house, because she didn't feel like driving out to my place. Ã, How nice.

Then later on, my ex, Tanya, (you all remember her... the girl I made the thread-card for...) called me just to bitch about how the guy that she's with now (the one she left me for) didn't get her anything for Valentine's day, and how he's so insensitive, and how she does everything for him and he doesn't even give her so much as a thank you, and how he goes out every night but never takes her with...
[close]

I think my face just went numb.

I personally loathe Valentine's day, because obviously I'm a guy who likes companionship, the thought of having someone special to come home to, and having someone to buy flowers for on Valentine's Day, but I'm not exactly a ladies man, and I often spend Valentine's day alone.

Ok, I'm done bitching, just had to get that off my chest. :)

Hope you all shared your V.D. with someone special. :P

Good luck on your test, Peter.

I think maybe I should go get tested, too... Just to be safe.

[a little off-subject]
I always thought that when one of your close friends came out, it was supposed to be earth-shattering, and a big shock, especially if they never displayed and homosexual tendencies before and always said that they were disgusted at the thought of themselves being involved in homosexual acts.  But a girl I dated over the summer just came out, who also fits the profile I just mentioned, and it's kinda funny... it's really no big deal.  It's kinda like... "O.k.  So you're a lesbian."  I'm just glad to see that she's happy for a change.

The only thing is, she hasn't come completely out of the closet... her mom and her two children don't know anything about it.

Holy crap...

This topic is STILL hot news?

I haven't posted anything in a while, and I finally got my photos from Christmas and New Year's developed:

Here's me, with a few of my old high school friends:

In this pic, I don't remember what I was talking about that I look so serious... but I just thought it was funny.  One of those, "use your imagination" things.

...and this is me and my date on New Year's...

Resident Evil: Apocalypse is good fun, but there are is one gaping plothole:
Spoiler
Why in the hell do the zombies pop out of the ground in the graveyard. I thought it only was spread by air and bite.. And even then, only when you are still alive...
[close]

I was kinda wondering that too.

Spoiler
I could never figure out why in RE3 they had zombies coming out of the ground, because you're right: the t-virus was only transmitted through bodily fluids (I don't know about airborne... in the first movie, it said the virus was "protein; changing from liquid, to airborne, to blood transfusion").Ã,  But it could have been something like what happened in Return of the Living Dead, where the t-virus got washed into the soil, and re-animated the corpses.
[close]

Yeah, it was a cool idea, but they should have shown some kind of reason why it happened.

As for other game-based movies:
Street Fighter - crap
Super Mario Brothers - it was okay
Resident Evil - Not bad, I kinda wish this one and the sequel would be able to tie-in with the game better.
Resident Evil: Apocalypse - I liked it
Tomb Raider 1 and 2: So-so... but Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft... *devilish grin*
Mortal Kombat - Bad
Mortal Kombat: Annhilation - Worse
House Of The Dead - Such a disappointment, but it's got zombies, so you know I like it a little.
Pokemon - I've never had the spleen to watch any of them
Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within - I don't understand why everyone says it was such a piece of crap... I didn't really think it was that bad.Ã,  I'm hoping that Advent Children will offer something newer, something that will tie-in with the game better.Ã,  Tifa is looking damn sexy though.

General Discussion / Re: see any films lately?
Mon 31/01/2005 05:04:30
The last film I saw was Meet The Fockers... didn't really care for it too much.  I didn't even really think Meet The Parents was that funny, either.  I mean, what are the odds that your parents would name you Gay (short for Gaylord), if your last name was Focker?  Then again, what are the odds that someone out there actually has the last name Focker?  I kinda thought it was dumb... I guess I would also call that the biggest pile of crap I've seen in a while.

Let's see... I saw Shaun Of The Dead finally.  I was fairly pleased with it.  It made me laugh occasionally, and I loved the zombies in the movie as well.

I also saw The Bourne Supremacy.  I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it.  The action sequences were great, and I might watch it again.  I wonder though... what are they going to do for the third movie?  From what I understand, there's supposed to be a Bourne Trilogy, or something.

You mean The Seed Of Chucky?

Come on Rui, you had to know that movie was coming, especially with the way Bride of Chucky ended.

Chucky, much like Jason, Freddy, and possibly Michael Meyers, will always be.  I thought it was really the end of Freddy when Freddy's Dead came out when I was a kid, but then they came out with The New Nightmare a few years later.

I think even when the whole lot of us are all old and grey sitting in our rocking chairs, hitting each other with our canes and complaining about "kids these days, and how they have it so easy", there will always be Chucky, Freddy, and Jason.

I liked Freddy Vs. Jason.
Jason X was...  :-\... er... crap... I guess.

But out of all of those 80's horror films with the oh-so identifiable antagonists, I'd have to say Chucky is my favorite.

Mr Hyde: Beautiful description of marriage there, at least what it should be ^_^ If you're not married already, go around telling the women that and you'll have no trouble

LOL.  I'm not the smoothest with women, but if I ever do get married, I'm only doing it once, and I'm only going to say those things if I really mean them.

Besides, I'm not really in any hurry to get married. :)

1.  Go sky diving.
2.  Have sex.
3.  Pawn anything valuable that I own.
4.  Track down the guy who used to beat me up in grade school and kick the piss out of him.
5.  Get married.
6.  Tell my mom, stepdad, and my two sisters how much I love them.
7.  Throw a "going away" party.
#472
Yeah... marriage is such a holy sanctity... so much that (at least here that I know of) you have to buy a license for it.

Honestly, I don't think marriage is a religious thing at all... marriage, in my eyes, is two people who love each other, and are celebrating devoting the rest of their lives to each other.Ã,  You say to your girlfriend/boyfriend, "You're the only one for me, you're my best friend, and you make me happy, and I want to spend the rest of my life making you just as happy."Ã,  And he/she says, "...ditto."

So, in my mind, marriage shouldn't be anything religious (don't get me wrong, it can be if you really want it to be), and it certainly shouldn't have anything to do with government or laws or licenses.

Honestly, are you going to let a bunch of gassy politicians tell you that you cannot marry the one person who you beleive to be "the one for you" Whether it be a man, or a woman?

As for gay sex... I'm not really going to get into that... just let them do their thing. ;D

EDIT:  Just so you know, I'm not bashing religion, nor am I trying to start a jihad, so please don't misunderstand.

 :-[  I knew that it was going to be something small and stupid that I overlooked... again...

Well, it works just peachy-keen, now.

Thanks for the help, Strazer, and everyone else who took a stab at it.
#474
The only time I actually thought a gay person was stupid was when I worked with this one guy.  He was gay, of course, but he just kept hitting on me.  He knew perfectly well I was straight (he saw me kiss my girlfriend on my lunch break), but he just kept hitting on me like he actually had a chance.  Now, I was kinda flattered in the beginning, but after a week of him staring at me, checking me out every time I bent over, and slipping me love notes or his phone number every time he passed my cubicle, I started getting really sick of it.  He would actually get mad and run into the bathroom and start crying when people told him he didn't have a chance with me.

He was kind of a drama queen, too... er, king... whatever... that's eventually what got him fired.

General Discussion / Re: Anime
Tue 18/01/2005 20:27:03
I've only seen a handful of anime (if you don't count p0rn... :-\).

I like anime for the most part, but yeah, it is sometimes tough to understand exactly what's going on in some of them.

I've seen:
- Ghost in the Shell (not all of it, though).
- Lensman
- Spirited Away
- Armitage: The Third
- Vampire Hunter D

I didn't care for Vampire Hunter D at all.  Lensman was okay, but it was a long time ago, the last time I saw it.  Ghost in the Shell, Spirited Away, and Armitage are three that I would definetly recommend.

I've also seen various cartoons, such as Pokemon.

The only gripes I've got about anime are how the character's mouths don't always move with the character's speech.  The other gripe is how when I turn on Saturday morning cartoons, it's all anime nowadays.  Whatever happened to four hours of Bugs Bunny?  I like anime, but I like Bugs Bunny more.

For once, I am at a loss for words.  I really did not see that coming!

Well, it's not a bad thing, though.  You are what you are.

I'm not sure what to say... I should say something nice, so... Congratulations, Petey.  :)

I like the soundtrack, even though it doesn't really set the mood, but I'm not really crazy for what I'm hearing about the movie itself.

IMO, Dimmu Borgir might go good in the movie... they're dark, and the symphony mixed with metal sound that they have could be useful in the movie to set the right atmosphere, if used in the right way.  That's only my opinion, though.

This is it... it still won't work.

- I'm positive I've got the button numbers correct, though I will try Dreammaster's suggestion with the debug message.
- I'm positive I've got all the buttons' left click reactions set to "Run Script"

No idea...

I'm having a problem with the GUIOff command... basically... it isn't working...

Here's the script:
Code: ags

if (interface == PROFILE) { // clicked a button on the PROFILE GUI
    if (button == 0) { // click "Exit" button
      GUIOff(2); // profile menu off
      SetDefaultCursor();
      }
    if (button == 2) { //click "Journal" button
      GUIOff(2); // profile menu off
      GUIOn(3); // journal on
      SetCursorMode(6);
      }
    if (button == 3) { // click "Bestiary" button
      GUIOff(2); // profile menu off
      GUIOn(4); // bestiary on
      SetCursorMode(6);
      }
    } // end interface PROFILE

every time I click one of the buttons on the Profile GUI, it doesn't respond, and I'm at a loss for an explaination.  I'm pretty sure I scripted it right...

For example, I click the Exit button, and nothing happens.  Same with the Journal, and Bestiary buttons; when you click those buttons, it's supposed to turn off the Profile GUI, and turn on the Journal or Bestiary GUI (respectively).

Can someone offer me some words of wisdom?

I guess while I'm at it, I just wanted to make sure of something: A GUI can be as big as you want it to be, right?  If you want, it can take up the whole screen, right?

Thanks in advance.

"the world's oil reserves will run out in 10 to 20 years."

Take a minute, think about that. Everything we have and do is based on oil. The war in Iraq is about oil. Not because there are major reserves of oil in Iraq but to establish a beachhead and powerbase in that region. America has no influence in an area that is going to be of major importance in the next few decades. They're trying to fix that. Simple.

Actually, this may be little off topic, but right now the Ford motor company is working on a car that runs off of hydrogen.Ã,  They expect these automobiles to start being released around 2010.Ã,  Ford says that they're doing this because they want to fix the problem of pollution, but there is also the fact that if everyone's car ran on something other than gasoline, I think it could put a major dent in the amount of oil that we use up every year.

I'm sorry... I forgot what my point was...  :-\
