General music, game or non-game related, I use Cubase LE (I'm still in the process of learning how to use it, sort of), which came bundled with my Lexicon Alpha unit.

If I just want to slap together a simple midi, I use Power Tab Editor.  It is, for all intents and purposes, a tablature editor for guitar or bass.  But it has a feature that allows you to play a midi of the song you've tabbed out, so you can see how it sounds.  You can also change the sound of the instrument during playback to, say, a piano or koto etc, and then export the midi itself.  It does take a little bit of general music knowledge, such as notes, rests, rhythm slashes, etc.

General Discussion / Re: Lump in my armpit
Mon 08/10/2007 02:48:22
I don't really like to talk about this because it's embarassing, but I had an abscess (or a boil, if you prefer) in my armpit last year.  The only reason why I come out and talk about it is because your description of this lump sounds about the same as mine did.  Did this spot in your under arm itch like crazy for the first couple of days before you got the lump?

You sweat all day, so it only makes sense that you could get an infected hair folicle or something in your underarm from all of the bacteria.

What you wanna do is keep it clean first of all, make you wash it with antibacterial soap and hot water several times a day.  Then, try putting a hot-pack on it for at least and hour each day, and see if it comes to a head over the next couple of days.  Then have a doctor drain it.

I'm not too sure if these things go away by themselves, mine didn't come to a head, so I had to go in and have mine lanced, and that hurt like hell.

Here, lowest part of the "food chain" are teachers, doctors, policemen and firemen. For example, garbage truck or bus drivers earn double that they do. Weird.

I'd say the same thing about here.  ...Except for doctors; doctors here, in my opinion, are overpaid and underworked.

As for me, I work as a laborer in a hardwood flooring factory, I bring home $1300 a month.  My job is to run wood through a frame saw all day to make veneer.

I'm still trying to quit smoking.  Well... I wouldn't really say I'm trying at this particular moment, but...

I guess I just have no willpower.

You could probably do with one of those janitor carts, or at least a mop and bucket.

How do you know my wife, and when did she start this blog?

I look at a lot of my old posts and ask myself, "What the fuck was wrong with me?"

But, I suppose my absolute worst post(s) would have to be:
1. the time I flipped out in a discussion about MTV, by posting some really nasty racial slurs about rappers.
2. the time I flipped out and called Wanderlady a sheep, because he didn't like people referring to CJ as Jesus/God, etc.

As far as my very first post, I couldn't even tell you what it was about.

Well, it sort of looks like Boyd.

Drifting.

Anyway, I just came across this guy's videos tonight.  It's almost hypnotizing to watch him, let alone hear him.

Here's another favorite of mine: The Art Of Motion.

I've never heard of this guy before.  Which is unbelievable, because he's awesome.  He makes Laurence Juber look like a noob.

I didn't read much of what was already posted, but it's my strong personal opinion that if a video game entices you to go out and kill someone:
1: Your parent weren't doing their job, by talking to you and explaining that killing and hurting people is wrong, and that video games are fictional, and not real, or
2: You're just plain fucked up the head and you need to seek psychiatric help immediately.

If some kid told me, "I killed another kid because of a video game", the first thing that would be running through my mind would be, "Yeah, it wasn't Lee Harvey Oswald who killed Kennedy, it was the bullet who killed Kennedy."

It works.  :)  Thanks.

I got this error when I run my game:
Error: run_text_script1: error -6 running function 'repeatedly_execute':
Error: Null pointer referenced
In Global Script (Line 71)

Here's my script:
(the asterisk is the line where I get the error)
Code: ags

function repeatedly_execute() {
  if (maincharacter == 0){
*     Jactiveitem.Text = cJohn.ActiveInventory.Name;
      Jdescription.Text = item[cJohn.ActiveInventory.ID].description;
  }
}

Basically what I'm trying to do is display an item's description on a GUI label.

I'd like to suggest the ability to display the amount that you have of a given inventory item on top of the item when it's in an inventory (a-la Morrowind, or the older Resident Evil games).

See, AGS already has the ability to display multiple inventory items multiple times, or, if you leave the option box unchecked, you will only see that you have one of that given item, even though you may have two or more of it.  It just seems logical to have this option if someone decides that they don't want 14 of the same item cluttering up their inventory, but they still want to know how many there is.

On the other hand, is there a way to do this already, such as a module, or a script that someone wrote?  I've been playing around with it, using a label and an integer, but I've been having to come up with ways to make the label move with the item's graphic every time a new, different item is added to the inventory.  I'm just looking for a way to save myself an obvious ton of scripting.

EDIT:
Okay.  Now that I've thought about it some more, I could just have a stationary label outside of the actual inventory window itself, and whenever I select an item, I could have AGS set the label's text to the amount of the active inventory item.

BUT... I still say it's a sound idea to have the option to display the amount of the item in some manner if you don't have that box checked.

Let me know what you think.

How about some music for a change?

What the hell are you talking about?  He's got Clapton, The Eagles, and Pantera on there.  I'd say those three, at the very least, qualify as music.

However, Matt is right, 50 Cent and any of his affiliations can go.  Replace that Crap with some Creedence.

Why would you want to go blonde?  It's only my opinion, but you look fine the way you are.

Besides:
1. Blondes don't have more fun.
2. How does a blonde kill a fish?... She drowns it.
