Very wise MrColossal,
However I don't beleive this principle applies to me as my style is 100% dependant on the usage of 32bit colour.
I knew before my initial production that this would be a sufficient bump in the road,  therefore I recently queried too see how long i'd have to wait before 32bit support became available.
I have still have a good month or two worths of work before i can consider publishing, i'll just have to start another project if 32bit isn't available therefore after.
Cheers ;)

I've done all my 800x600 backgrounds in flash using many shading methods.
when converted to 16bit using either error diffusion or nearest colour they look absolutely awefull. hence my enthusiasm for 32bit colour support.

Might just wait for AGS 2.6 before publishing.
32 bit colour is innevitable! mwoohahaha cough cough

General Discussion / what's this tune from?
Mon 20/10/2003 10:25:48
Greetings :)
Hope this is the right forum... looked the most relevant.
I'm after a classical song for a game I'm currently making, I'm not sure of the compossers name, hence I'm having a little trouble finding it.
I've made a short tune in fruity loops of what the first few notes sound like... it's a pretty popular peice, you hear it everywhere (namely fantasia i think).
If anyone could name the composser and song for me... you'll have my eternal kudos :) cheers

Foz, don't rely on the oppinions of others too much... you'll never please everbody. If you personally feel satisfied with your finished game/product then you've suceeded... now get the f***ing URL working!!  8)

Very Good!!  ;D
A couple of things that bug me.
Firstly, the placement of his ears almost look like cheeks while he's facing forward .
Maybe move them up a couple of pixels and shorten the width a tad. His eyes might benefit from a little more detail, though it could turn out to be a style trademark amoungst all of your characters, in which case they'd do just fine :P
Might wanna remove some overall outline thickness... 1 pixel less perhaps.
All in all Very very nice!! can't wait to see more from you! :)

I think it's something CJ said he might do in the future, but not very soon.

All I wanted to know, thanks :)

Any plans for 32bit colour in the near future? Would be very spiffy!
Couldn't see how it would decrease performance, then again what would I know???  ??? :-\
Thanks :)

Just wondering if 800 x 600 compatibility is a top priority on the AGS to do list? i'm hesitant to compile my game untill this feature is enabled... Am I in for a long wait?
Cheers:D

"About the background: There is a big chunk of grey on the left that has no shading or anything, and looks a bit weird"

Yeah it bothers me too, as i stated there's a lot of back/fore ground detail to be implemented, I'm still working on the bg and will post an updated version in a few days.

Thanks for the kind words guys, I'll try and get a tutorial happening soonish :D

Cheers Keiko!
hurls jar of cherry (hand made) jam...
As for characters, here's a sneak peak. Havn't delved into animation yet, using flash though so it shouldn't provoke too much tourment.

Thanks scummbuddy :)
Funnily enough apon showing it to a friend a few days ago he replied "lol, it's a sad house". It's actually the abode of a somewhat lazy gentleman so perhaps the lazy/sad notations have some correlation?
The initial house I had done some weeks ago, I spent the last couple of days working on color variations, mainly the green window tinting and the purple frame work... the windows are supposed to reflect a drab suburban late night environment.
Thanks again, ill keep updating the image as it progresses.

Tell us what you all think of this?
Still requires a lot of back/fore ground detail to be implemented, wanted to get an some C&C on the initial style before i got too carried away.
i.e - Perspective is too intense, colours are too vivid etc.
Thank yee all :D

Thanks man :P makes me feel all fuzzy inside :D
Oh don't worry... I'd love to one day complete a game in this style... just buggerd if I would be physically able to, the time factor aside I'm still stumped as to how i'd combine cartoony characters with it... may work who knows, ill just have to give it a go.
And if i need any help.. your on! :P ;)

Ok found the earliest file of this image... the others were mainly colour variations. Ready for a shock?

I'll make a note to save more often in future.. if it all works out, might put up some tuts somewhere if anyone's interested. (though you'd run like hell if u knew what you were getting into.)
