This past Thursday, I tought my first day at the Alaqsite'w Giitpu School (AGS for short), a school on a nearby Micmac (Mi'gmaq/ Mi'kmaq) native reservation. The first two words (Alaqsite'w, Giitpu) translate to "Flying Eagle".

Lame to mention this, I know, but I thought it was kinda' funny, so I thought I would anyway.

Feel free to lock this anytime soon.

For doing snow, as Darth suggested, I always find that slight blueish or purplish tint helps a lot for some reason.

And that cloud looks a bit like a small animal's brain to me...

What's the name of the program you're using? Poser is the only complete character creation/animation package I'm familiar with.

I'm not sure you answered this yet. I'm also curious about program was used for making the characters.

Just a thought for a detail -- I think that archeological dig sites like these often have a grid system in place, sectionning off smaller parts of the excavation (for easier catalogging of bits that are found, I'm guessing) with wire or string or something of the sort.

I have a feeling that something like that would probably muck up your pic, though. Still, having the individual dig areas vaguely "roped" off with stakes and string or something may be worth considering.

Beautiful stuff, though.

Well, slowly but surely, i'm working on a goofy sci-fi game. Mostly so I don't have to worry about things like conventional anatomy and proportion and drawing people and stuff.  :P

Anyway, I was wondering what people would think of the lead character's look.

Keep in mind that a 3-pixel outline will be used for characters throught the game. And that he's supposed to look a bit awkward (he fits the role of unassuming, bumbling idiot, if y' know what I mean).

Comments, criticism and suggestions are welcome (especially of the side view, which I like much less than the front view... I know the side view's hand is too small, mind you.).

For your crater, I think this is along the lines of what Scummbuddy is talking about, maybe. You coulkd probably make the deeper parts of the crater darker, too.

Still, it's amazing to consider what some lines that give a little texture can do (in this case, add the much-needed illusion of depth to the crater). Keep up the practicing.

As for the Sun washing out the stars... even if that's true (I'm guessing it is, but truly, I haven't the foggiest), I personally think that the sky WITHOUT stars would looks strange... like you forgot to add them or something. I'd suggest that you keep them in there and possibly take out the Sun if that sort of realism is important to ya'.

Hm. Not sure how that last one reflects a hobby exactly, but here's my entry.

(or the color version, which I'm not nearly as fond of)

EDIT: It's so sad that the game Nessie is playing looks better than anything I've ever made...  :-[

EDIT: Just realized that I posted the non-256 colour version of the colour picture. Disregard it and consider the black and white version my entry.

I'm guessing you meant me.

I used Paint Shop Pro, but most of it wasn't anything too fancy (I used layers to speed me up, but really didn't need to, and I used a low opacity/ low density/ low hardness brush to do the stars in the background as well as the Sun. And some of the smaller craters are copied and pasted, sort of.).

Save for the sky, though, I'm sure that MS Paint or Ultimate Paint or whatever could handle this.

Unless you're not referring to me, in which case I feel like an ass.

Ugh. I appologize in advance for this. I'm not sure what I was thinking...  :-\

EDIT: Hm. Here's a different version of the floor, in case the first one makes you nausious.

Scud-Ninja beats Chainsawmurai, you say? Okay, I'll bite.  :=

Or, in case you prefer to have one, with a (really lame) background:

Well, in case you want to reconsider, going into the bushes could be something that's possible only after having a certain powerup (like, the "Tanooki" (sp?) suit from Mario 3, for example. As for an animation, if the bushes were objects, an easy animation would just be for them to sort of shudder (along with a rustling noise) as you pass through them. There could be the possibility of hidden items inside them, or even secert passages.

Just some things to think about.

You might want the crators to be more oval, too.

Well, as I said, it's a TV show, not a comic (unless you meant cartoon).

Anyway, I'm not sure where you can get episodes. I'd suggest looking around in Kazaa and stuff and you might strike it lucky.

Otherwise, here's a few sites about the show:

Best of luck...

...but if you're still looking for an even MORE final frontier afterwards, you may want to be around during a volcano erruption. I'm sure it'd be loads of fun.

I'm not 100% positive about his, but don't sythes usually have a handle (or two) of some sort sticking out of their side?

Keep in mind that the real ones were meant to be used the cut grass/ wheat and the handle really helps you pivot the things.

http://galleryone.co.uk/html/george_gourley.html (see especially "In The Meadow")
http://members.aol.com/micus6/Sythe.html
http://www.bondsauctions.com/labday/pages/101-0162_IMG.html

Still, the sythe without the handles is used in stylistic representations of Death's sythe all the time, so it's all up to up you.

The general concept also sound a bit like a Canadian-made cartoon called "ReBoot" (save for the amnesia stuff) that was done entirely with computer graphics (one of the very first TV series to do so). It was pretty spiffy, especially for its time, and even more so in the later episodes.

In the show, some main characters "battled" occasionally in various types of games against some vague entity they called "The User". There were also a number of other entities within the Mainfram world (where the show to place) and most of them had computery names, like Hexadecimal, Hack, Slash, Glitch, etc.

I'd suggest downloading a few episodes HUrdenomUn, if you aren't familiar with it (if for no other reason than to consciously avoid "copying" any of the show's ideas).

Not sure if you're asking about this for a game or not, but if it is, as some people have suggested, multiple personality disorder, from what I can gather, is variable enough to allow for a lot of room to improvise, if you're making astory up around it.

The brain's a wonderful, strange thing, so if you can conceive of it hapenning and it seems somewhat reasonably possible that it maybe could, it's quite possible that it can.

As Andail Suggested, Oliver Sacks's books illustrate the facinating nature of the brain and how it can malfunction quite nicely, and with some funny, if sad accounts. See his book titled "The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat" for a lot of interesting examples of the brain's functionning gone awry (mostly due to injury, if I remember right).

And when you consider that there's such a huge amount of bizzare things that do go wrong, it's pretty amazing, really. People who are unaware of the right sides of things (including themselves), people who can't see certain angles of lines, people  who think that non-eadible things should be eaten, people  who can only see a few letters at a time but have otherwise normal vision (my mother suffers from such a dissability, actually), etc...

But if it's not for a game, safe to say that what was suggested is likley possible.
