General Discussion / Re: Everything...is GONE!

Okay, I don't claim to know anything about this sort of stuff, or whather or not this could help, but I was just watching "The Screen Savers" and there was a goy on talking about a data recovery program called "SpinRite", which can be found at grc.com

ANYway, I thoght that it may be worth looking into, as the guy even mentionned something about people recoverring data that had been thought lost to fire damage...

Not sure if you even have that old hard drive anymore, of course... but still...

2 Ozwalled: What RPGMaker are you talkin about? I have 2003 and its still top-down.

I think it's called Network Rpg Maker. Or nrpgmaker. Or nedango.  I know very little about it, save for the fact that someone I knew was using it at one point and was telling me about it. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

For the latest "float" animation you posted, I just find it looks like he's going really, really fast all of a sudden.

There's the possibility of building isometric enviroments withing the latest RPG Maker (I have no idea what version it is -- I've never used it) and then just taking screenshots. I'm pretty sure it can be done, but I know nothing else about this.

My only quibble is that the skirt thing looks just a but "Mcfarlane/ Spawn". Other than that, I think it's pretty slick!

I think you should chop off the penis and have it lying at the floor

Better yet: make the player chop it off and gain it as an iventory item!....

What? This isn't a Lorena Bobbit game? Oh, well neverMIND then!

I'm not sure what the yellow thing is on the sprites on the right. Is he holding something like a bag? Is it a scabbard? A loincloth? Sash?...

Again for the right guy, the 16 bit version, the big black hair strands looks like long ears to me.

Not bad though.

I swear, if I could run a school, the misbehaving kids would be put on bike attached to generators. At least we'd get a little electricity outta' the little snots.  :o

And as future teacher, be assured that I jest.

Here are the new versions I've made of the front and side view of King the dog:

CHANGES:
-I've finally added a set of hind legs to the front view.
-Made the forelegs stand out a bit more seperately from the body (not 100% happy with how they look, though) in the front view.
-Made some of the oulines more even, especially around the ears on the front view.
-Reduced the taper of the front legs in the front view.
-Reduced the "hunchback" on the side view.
-fixed the collar a bit in side view.
-Fixed the end of the ear up a bit in side view.

The front view still looks wonky to me, though. More suggestions, critiques and even paintovers are welcome.

I'm trying to get this pooch down pretty good, as I'll be needing to make somewhere around four or five more (different dogs), and I figure I'll use this one as a template for the others.

*N3TGraph: As mentionned in the first post, I'm using a 2 pixel outline through the game, so that's not going to be changing.

The setup file's not working for me either. But use the arrow keys. It's keyboard controlled, apparently.

Worth noting is the fact that the M key seems to bring a map up (not that you need it), but you don't seem to be able to Exit the map and go back to the game properly.

Gosh this game frustrating, though...

I care somewhat about the wrestling -- enough to watch whenever I find it on, but not enough to follow it super-close. Pretty much the same as everything, really.

I used to get some monster muscle cramps. Usually in bed, usually when I was waking up, but sometimes they'd happen in the night and wake me up. Felt like my calf muscle was trying to tear itself right off the muscle, while I gnashed my teeth in pain. It still happens every once in a while, but was most frequent in my teens and early 20s. A few times a year, a simmilar thing happens to the part of my neck behind my chin, which is uber painful and scary.

I've found the best way to try to "fight" these spells is try do your very best to relax and GRADUALLY move the affected area around (either on its own, or by rubbing the muscle around).

This could also be some sort of muscle spasm (which would have a similar feeling), sometimes caused by a potassium defficiency. In which case you should eat more bananas (unless you're allergic).

If you're still fairly young, I suppose there's a chance that it's growing pains, but I doubt it.

(please note though, that I'm no doctor)

Well, I think that if you're going to be offering criticism there, try your best to have it be constructive, and it ought to be fine. Just as long as you relate what you don't like, maybe why you don't like it and a suggestion that you feel would be an improvement, I'd guess that any mature poster could accept that.

Harsh? BAH! Keep the critiques coming, please (especially for the front view... I'm starting to be pretty pleased with the new version of the side view I'm working on. The more I look at the front view, though, the less happy I become with it.

At any rate, I'm working on some of the suggested changes and stuff as we speak.

Thanks for the comments so far.

Originally from Connecuticut, in the US.  Currently, I live in Washington, DC.

Ozwalled, where in New Brunswick do you live?  My grandmother was from St. Johns.  Her family was exiled there...literally...

Well, if she was in New Brunswick, she would have been in St. John -- St. John's would be in the province of Newfoundland. Just so you know.

But exiled to St. John? What the heck was THAT all about? Was it some weird part of the big Acadian deportation? (my history is bad...)

ANYway, I'm actually about a 5 hour's drive away from St. John, in a small joke of a city called Campbellton, at the very North of the province, very much boardering on the province of Quebec (basically, we cross the bride and we're ina different timezone... and in a way, a whole different world...).

Cooincidentally, my parents happen to be visiting St. John as we speak, though, as there's a Tallships... thing going on.

Something that really bugs me about the art are the eyes of Sam and Max. They've got this triangular shape, giving them an angry look... but  the game (and what little I read of the comics had their eyes usually depicted as round. This, IMO, gives them a more matter-o-fact kind of view when it comes to their own violence, which added to the humour.

Maybe... but does the screen shaking move all over the place, both vertically and horizontally (what I figured it did, though I could be wrong), or can/ does it work on a single axis/ plane (in this case, vertical)?

A public service announcement for those who might be influenced by BassFisherman (see http://www.agsforums.com/yabb/index.php?topic=15630.0 for details):

PS-  No hard feelings, BassFisherman.

It was nothing much, really. I even botched some parts pretty bad (I'm looking at the tail and shaking my head in self-dissapointment...).

As far as shading goes, not too long ago (a matter of months, really), I stank at it too, if it makes ya' feel any better. Just trying it out and practicing has helped a lot.

Seriously, if you practice it and just try to think of what the 3D shape would be and you think of where the light it coming from, it starts to come to you more and more easily.

Considering how far you've come in the last while, I'm more than confident that you'll be shading like a "pro" before you know it.
