I would tend to agree with you ProgZmax since a number of the great RON games share a somehow similar feeling, like the ones from Dave Gilbert, Creed Malay and Francisco Gonzales, but then there are the Alterna-RON titles (which there hasn't been a good one of so far) and the more serious, dark games from Dylan Downing (which are good at least).
RON is a universe with a certain set of characters, themes and locations, but every author has its own interpretation of it.
And I think it's absolutely okay if the overall feeling deviates from the impression that the "main titles" of the RON series can give you.

Whoo!
I'm not alone in thinking that Death Gate is one of the greatest adventure games ever! ;)
It has a wonderful atmosphere and 100% logical puzzles and is just great fun!

Second place must be Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. The unusual high amount of interactivity impressed. It also felt very real and lively, not so static as most adventure games.

Third place......now that's tough. Probably DOTT. Or Gabriel Knight. I'm not sure. I admire those games, but they weren't as fun to me. So I'm undecided.  :-\

Your drawings aren't amazing, though they get better, but I love your humor, it has something distinct. :)

It's the first time I played this work-in-progress and while it's obviously far from finished I love what I see. I thought the intro was the right length, though it stopped at a weird point.
I love how populated the city is and feels and how you can click your way around, it's probably the closest what I've seen to an interactive novel so far. The interactive part, though.......there are many hotspots, but you can't do anything with them, except for the exits obviously.

I don't have any avatar on earth or am I just controlling the ghost of the dead child? It's not clear to me.
I'm also not sure if the dialogues feel quite right to me.

All I can say is that this game shows a lot of potential.

Man, that was so silly it reminds me of my own attempts at humour. At least the leg joke...hilarous!

The pauses between the the lines of the monologue were annoying though. Just dragged it on forever and killed some of the humour...
...also, the music was kinda jumpy, but I'm not sure if that's just an issue with me or not, since the teaser overall was slow and jerky.

So, liked it, shows promise! :)

Don't forget Bear Story!!

Typically for RI this was an untypically serious RON game. Of course, this isn't a problem, RON is open for any style and I liked his other RON games very much before.
This one is also of high quality with logical puzzles that don't hinder your progress too much.
The plot itself was very straightforward and predictable though.
There wasn't a single surprise or revelation, it just went from beginning to end without any problems, turns or twists, it was a straight road until the end.
As a murder mystery it wasn't very exciting, but I liked it nevertheless. It was a very good RON game and added some nice things to this peculiar universe. :)

Wow, those look amazing, at least 10.000 times better than your average RON background!! :D

Too bad they have such a unique and unmixable style or I would use them for my project!!

Yeah, that happens with lcd monitors....the 320x200 resolution is just out of range for them, apparently.
But you can still use it. Just start winsetup.exe and set the resolution at 640x400.
Essentially the pixels are just doubled. It looks the same (except for the scaling maybe), but works. ;)

If you really want to use stripes on the wallpaper use a slightly darker colour instead of black bars. Really, it's hard to look at it. And try to fill the whole screen with the scene. Or center it at least, but don't let it look like you just drew it too small. It would be irritating if the scenes would constantly change the filled size of the screen.
Yeah, I just repeated what Akatosh said and it's not Critic's Lounge here, but I think it's important...

It's true that Captain Mostly made many crap games (don't know about LasNaranjas...), but he also made two good ones, namely both entries in the Vegetable Patch Extreem Turbo series.
Sadly, the second part isn't very well balanced and is often more frustrating than fun. But it sure is very unique.

It's interesting: while RLatBtAT is very much crap (despite some nice ideas) and still has a cult following in this forum, the VPET series is much better but went by nearly unnoticed.

So my nomination for underrated talent is the "late" Captain Mostly.

General Discussion / Re: Bad Phrasing?

Joel Schumacher movies are always hit and miss. On the one side there are the great ones: Falling Down, Phone Booth & Flatliners.

And then there are the horrible ones like 8mm, the Batman movies, Phantom of the Opera,....actually, I think he did more bad than good, but still, he's an interesting director because of the huge varying quality of his movies! :)

Eh, what was the topic again!?  ???

If they fit to RON, sure!
At the moment the RON community hasn't many good active graphical artists, well, except for Krysis there isn't anyone!

Those sprites of Punk Allen look awesome, as usual with your stuff! ;)

But that's only 300dpi and 60x80cm, I provide indefinite resolution ;)
Well, when you do something like this on something so old and popular as this you are never the first one to do it :)

That's true, though the maker of those ones also vectorised it. Maybe the accordant files were only posted in the forum.

Nice!
Look at this, though: Somebody has done something similar before, and not just of DOTT, but also of many other LA games! :)
But it's more in a poster than a desktop format.

Seriously now, you missed this part, and this.

Notice how the concept art is also ripped off and how it was used in the game. We only have a few Amiga screens, and two of them have plagiarized material. And they're in-game screenshots, I doubt they'd replace that for the final product.

It's wonderful how they even released a DVD with the game that has concept art and bonus features. It seems to me they totally overrated themselves.

Well, for more there's still the demo....I'm too lazy to configure an Amiga Emulator for it but it's certainly interesting enough out of morbid curiosity.........I ask myself if the writing was already that bad back then! From the screenshots it looks like it had a parser......man, if they were as lazy back then as with the released version where the character says mainly "Hm......interesting" when you command the character to look at an object or says "That doesn't work" when you didn't guess the right solution then it must have been even worse! There you probably had to guess the right words additionally. Look, yes; examine, no. Ugh.... *shudder*

Yeah, of course, I also like many different musical styles, but I never did get into The Who.
Well, I only listened to Tommy and Quadrophenia, maybe I should look into some of their other works.
#97
Sorry, but The Beatles didn't release such a boring and uninspired mess like Quadrophonia. Maybe The Who ist just not the right band for me, I didn't like Tommy either, apart from Pinpall Wizard. I mean, I could smell and feel the ambition, but somehow they couldn't fill the album with songs I cared about. It's somehow a nice album to play in the background, but it bores me when I listen closely to it.

Contrary, I love everything from The Beatles, Rubber Soul upwards.

They have a wild assortment of styles, experimented a lot, yet most of their experiments worked out fine (compare that to Pink Floyd...). They are a band who probably inspired more musicians than any other.
There's nothing mediocre about their other albums, I still have to find another pop album like Abbey Road that has the same pop appeal and variety.
Hm......Peeping Tom may come close, but not all songs are that good. ;)

To be honest, I don't think that they ripped this one graphic off in the Amiga version. Sure, the lines are exactly the same, but the colours are totally different, basically they used the outline and redrew the rest.
Not to forget that the Amiga version was never comercially released so we don't know if they would have replaced the image in the final version.
I say this because I'm not sure if Steve Bovis was already that deranged at the time or if it came with the years, whatever. Also, the art direction and the concept arts looked a lot better back then.

You know, those pixelly graphics are a lot easier to accomplish by a single guy than a big bunch of pre-rendered 3D art.
It may be that he ripped those graphics off since he knew he could never accomplish them in a reasonable time, and with a halfway good looking result. He would be right there.
But the puzzles are the high point.
You somehow have to mix a liquid that looks green as a result. You have to give saffron, which is yellow, into water, so it turns green. Uh-huh.........wait, WHAT? WATER ISN'T BLUE!!!

Really, absolutely crazy...

Yeah,  The Beatles are amazing.
But you have to listen the whole albums, not just the kinda lame hits compilation "1".

Well, as a German I have to admit, Spain was much better.
Hm, I'm not such a football fan anyway, so I don't care too much.
