That is such an adventure-game solution ;D We used to do something similar to keep the ants away from our honey (simply put the honey jar in a wider tapper filled with water). I'll try that tonight and see what kind of fish we get. Thanks for the advice!

That does it. I was enjoying a rather peaceful sleep, when I was awaken by a roach that decided to seek for adventure up the side of my neck. I slapped off the annoyance, but when I saw what it actually was it scared the crap out of me. I have a phobia for insects (especially roaches), and my house is slowly becoming a huge roach empire.

We don't know what's wrong, we have a clean house, we keep spraying stuff and leave those poison traps at the darkest corners. Our kitchen is especially suffering, every night I go downstairs to have a break from my geeky activities I'm caught in the middle of a mad roach orgy.

At least the little buggers are some kind of breed that doesn't grow any longer than about half an inch. That doesn't make them any cuter, though.

Is there a solution to the problem without getting cancer myself? Spraying not only seems to be ineffective, but it's also unhealthy. Has anyone had this problem before?

I know the perspective is weird, that was kinda intentional.

here's a very silly photoshop I made for a friend:

I was supposed to pose with the card and take a picture before I sign it. I couldn't do that in person, so...

And no, I'm not in any way affiliated with KKK.

It was more than 5 days, and it was international, not just for Greece.

But I'm glad it's working again!

I changed my user name to Paper Carnival because I've changed a lot since the times of my old nickname. I certainly don't want other people here associate me with that idiot := (because, apparently, whatever internet people think about me is very important ::))

What it means? Well, nothing in particular. It seems to be unique. It's inspired by a greek rock song called Paper Circus.

All the articles about me are written by none other than me.

Oh and Dave, I once read an article about you in a greek gaming magazine ;D I don't know where it is now, though.

Meh. I couldn't beat it, I had to follow a walkthrough.

I'm afraid the background story is not very original, but the plot development was amazing. And, man, what an ending! It certainly made me envision a whole new aspect of the world I could never realize before.

I like those, but I think you should try to add the filters by hand. If you do it right everything will look a lot better and less repetitive. Not that it's any bad the way it is, IMO, but I believe a lot of people might be bored with a constant Charcoal effect.

It's great, I hope you keep this up 8)

Here are two suggestions, but I suppose it's just a matter of taste. I changed bars 3 (suggestion #1) and 7 (suggestion #2) by changing a B note to D#

I mostly use Wintermute and SCRAMM, but if I'm just making an hour game I tend to go with GLUMOL.
If you like Wintermute, maybe you should try AGS. I hear it's a pretty decent engine when it comes to adventure games.

Well, this is an interesting question, one that has actually bothered me before. Sometimes I don't even notice the music I listen to, some other times I focus on it completely. When I focus, I try to listen to all the harmonies, distinguish every single instrument, etc.

Some other times, when I'm a bit sleepy, I do have images in my head. I don't get the same images every time though. One I remember, for example, was the image of some kind of fortress and a wisp floating around. It's very weird when it happens, and I like it when it does. It's almost like I'm dreaming about those images, so whenever I catch myself seeing those it most likely all stops.

What's amazing is that it's far from just an "image", it's an actual situation. When this happens, I sometimes even hear the lyrics changed to fit that situation. Like, I hear the singing, but it means something totally different in my head.

Does anyone else have this weird experience?

I once watched a documentary about Trekkies.

"Star Trek is a way of life."

And I thought I was a geek.

Oh, I tried Dark Basic too. It does indeed suck. I prefer Blitz 3d a lot more, you can find many great games made with it. Plus, Dark Basic never made any sense to me, whereas Blitz 3d seemed very easy to use (considering its power and flexibility). I just never had enough time to learn it well.

AGS is made for adventure games. Sure, you can cheat your way around creating more than just adventure games (Colourwise being a perfect example), but it's just not worth the trouble.

Game Maker is great, extremely flexible and easy to use. I'm currently working on an exploration game with it. I have all the control over everything I need. with no glitches or whatever.

If you want anything more powerful, then get Blitz Basic. I think it's the most stable game engine, but it looks more like a "real" programming language. It's both 2d and 3d. Though the 3d engine is very competent, don't expect to make the next gen first person shooter, but I suppose it could perfectly handle a 3d adventure game. I wonder why no one's tried that out yet ::) Some day I might

I suppose the next best choice is C++. My knowledge with it is very limited, though.

I never worked around with Games Factory, but here's an awesome exploration game made with Multimedia Fusion

Of course I won't stick with Game Maker forever, but for the time being it's perfect for my game.

@Ghost: I tried to find a link for Construct, but I didn't even find it referenced everywhere. Maybe it has a new name now?
