Muslims != evil. Though I believe that extreme muslims are more likely to cause trouble than extreme Christians (I'm talking about the present), it doesn't degrade muslims because the extremism doesn't come out of a "real" christian or muslim.

My country is illegally divided in two parts by force (but nobody cares or knows because we don't have oil). We have a greek (supposedly christian) part and a turkish (muslim) part. A couple of years ago travelling to the other half became possible and me and my family went to see my dad's village where he lived before the turkish invasion that forced greeks to move to the south part and vice versa. We met a few very nice people so far, way friendlier than the people from my part. However, we also met a crasy-assed person who would have seriously considered killing us if he was carrying a shotgun with him at that moment.

We've also checked out a small cemetery and saw that the crosses on the graves were all violently smashed. Some churches were turned to stables, even. The rest are turned into muslim temples. However, all the turkish temples are still preserved in the Greek part.

My point is that, speaking from experience, muslims are generally good people. They do have some nasty extremists, though. And if an ordinary muslim gets extreme on some issues, it's not always because he's crazy or hateful. It's because muslims are generally more faithful than Christians and hold a lot of things sacred.

General Discussion / Re: MSN Messanger problem
Sat 04/02/2006 08:57:32
I had exactly the same problem before. Well, not exactly, but every time I signed on I had one or two seconds before MSN froze. There was nothing I could do! I couldn't find an earlier version that had enough features (me and my friends abuse the drawing feature :P), so I tried to do a System Restore.

It worked, except that some things were missing (eg no sounds and stuff). When the next version came out, I installed it and it worked.

So I suggest that you either use windows messenger (which is more stable anyway), but if you can't live without the new features try doing a System Restore. Then wait for the next version.

Before you do all that, check if there's a conflict with some other software, of course.

Nice animation, the legs are perfect. What troubles me is the arms, they're always straight. Also, the hands look weird during the animation.

I'm not sure, but I think that there's a reference of Escape from Monkey Island in Scary Movie 2 when the girl moves like a monkey and says "drunken monkey". You know, one of the Monkey Kombat stances in MI4.

Today someone in school let me hear new Rammstein songs that I haven't heard before and they were better than what I thought Rammstein was about. The only songs I have on my computer are Du Hast, Mein Teil and Ich Will.

Still, they're not something I'd listen to all the time. My favourite German bands remain Desolation (unblack metal) and Siegfried (epic metal). Most Desolation songs are in English though, unfortunately.

They are nice, but I'm not too much into them. I love the vocals and the heavy german accent though. The music is quite simplistic and repetitive, yet it has a lot of atmosphere.

Oh yeah.

I do agree that Demons & Wizards is lame, and with the exception of the songs I mentioned I hate that album. If this wasn't about 2005, D&W wouldn't be included.

You should try being a bit more kind towards people. You hurt my feelings you asshole >:(

Come on now Helm, power metal isn't that bad...
#412
Well, the following aren't necessarily my favourite songs, but they are my favourites that were released in 2005. In no particular order:

Crimson King by Demons & Wizards
Wicked Witch by Demons & Wizards
Dorian by Demons & Wizards
Cryptic Passages by Divinefire
The Spirit by Divinefire
Emotions Of A Picture by Majestic Vanguard
Beyond the Moon by Majestic Vanguard
Tears in Neverland by Majestic Vanguard

I doubt anyone else knows about those bands (except maybe Demons & Wizards), has anyone else heard of them?

Wait, wait. Does this mean... no more Maddox? :o

I'm sorry Las, I thought you said that all Christians are the same. And I wasn't trying to bite your head off, sorry if it sounded that way.

Peace

Also, I was unaware that all Christians followed the same actions of condemning one film and liking another.

What's that for? As I said, not all Christians hate Harry Potter, I know a lot who just enjoy the story. There are as many Christian mindsets as there are Christians in this world, it's just that some mindsets are closer to each other.

What esper said is right, when I read the books I don't care about the magic. And the books do teach a lot of values like morality and friendship. But no, it has to be evil because some dumb kids decided to become a wizard by reading the book. I tell them that according to this logic the Bible is evil too, because some dumb people decided to go kill other people by reading it. Flamed, I was.

Anyway, back to Narnia. Watching Narnia was very different than watching any fantasy film, because I already knew that it's going to have intentional Christian symbolism. I love symbolism in things so maybe that's why I liked it so much. It also somehow helped me ignore the lameness and childishness (is that a word?) of a many scenes, because I could see their symbolic meaning.

Quote from: Potch on Tue 03/01/2006 18:07:56My last question is this, and I'm not trying to start a big argument, and I'm sorry ahead of time if this offends anyone, but I'm sincerely asking because it's something I've been wondering about.... Why is that a book or movie like Chronicles of Narnia, or LoTR for that matter, which is full of magic (a wardrobe that takes you to another world, a witch that can turn things to stone, talking animals and the like) is ok according to Christians, but Harry Potter is looked as evil because of magic?Ã,

I don't know. I'm a Christian, I love the Harry Potter books and I've been asking people about this but never got a satisfying answer. The main arguments are that the Harry Potter books led kids into trying to practise real magic (that's what they say.. I don't know about facts) or that it takes place in our own world, only the magic is practised in our unawareness. Which is different than LotR or Narnia because they take place in different worlds. Basically they are trying to say that Harry Potter is written in such a way that promotes and glorifies witchcraft and makes it believable (unlike LotR and Narnia which is pure fantasy).

www.geocities.com/crosshead777/demonocracy_with_bass.mid

There, I mostly went along with the lowest note of the chord except a few times.

I did try your midi, but it sounded weird - not in a bad way, it was just different. I suppose it's the midi program you used, it altered the way it sounds a bit (it's also a semitone lower, but it sounds different in GP even if I transpose it).

I think it sounds better now, I thank you so much for your help ;D. As a composer I'm still in training and my ear is not really good enough yet, so spotting harmony issues is not as easy for me.

Now that I got this better, I think I'm going to try to add more to the song (and I'll add lyrics too)

Nice!

I would change the sound of the drums, make them just a little louder. This is just an advice though, you might like it more this way. Maybe if you added bass like Greg suggested, it would be better.

17/20, not bad, not bad.

I forgot to add that I dislike Christians who think drinking alchohol is sinful, or mindsets that force you to listen to only christian music and nothing secular... and extreme legalism in general. I believe that if Jesus visited my house he'd have no problem drinking a couple of beers with me while listening to the Blind Guardian cd Santa Claus brought me. And Jesus is a metalhead.
