Yeah, you cant go back after that point. You have to let the ghost of the villager follow you into the forest where you will lose him, then go across the bridge into the forest. Make sure you enter all possible areas before continuing, because the path can change.

e.g walk to the area up the top with the river, then go back out, walk along again.

The woods are supposed to confuse you haha ;)

Yeah, the bgs are from some software from WB i got back in 2003 xD

This was not too much of an ambitious project, this was a more of a getting started with AGS type game.

Stiego Moors improves alot more on this. Im actually starting to want to revive the game and actually work on Stiego Moors 2 - with all my best graphical, and storywriting skills haha!

We will see. :)

I'm stuck too, literally. On a screen with some rocks, wood tied together on the right and a gold colored wooden bridge on the left. You can't cross the bridge (no reason) and north to the right of the bridge takes me back to the screen I'm trying to leave, as if it's a transition to the wrong room...

Anything I can do apart from restoring?
What day are you on?
Depending on which day you are on the woods change their paths, so places you went before, you cant get to now.

Spoiler
I got to the hotel on day 2 where the hotel is all dark, been to my room, found the secret passage back to the library, lit the candle, picked up the book. Now he doesn't want to go back and I don't know what to do. Help please.
[close]
You have to walk down the staircase, go into the back room, and place the book in the bookshelf (you have to find the right area). Hope that helps!

Wow sorry, i always changed it using the cfg file! xD
Totally forgot to include that. I think you can use the same winsetup.exe from other games as well though. Ill upload the configurator for it as well to the site.

This game is quite confusing...

To start.. there is no setup with your game?  And the manual is missing the 'home' page and an image in the mainmenu.html

The title screen also seems messed up. I see a small letterbox window in the middle with trees and above that in black repeated vertical dots.. as if the image wasn't compiled right and some bits (0's & 1's) were missing..

Right after starting, I leave the hotel and have no clue what to do. There's little interaction with objects and the screen outside seems put together (hotel and general store), but not seamless, as if it's cut. Nothing to do here. Then all of a sudden a taxi shows up and takes me to a desolate place and I say I need to go to my hotel and get some sleep... That's what I just left?!?!

The perspective is also not quite right. I walk into the alley where the cars get smaller, but I stay the same size? I don't get the feeling of walking into an alley, just against a miniature car. I can walk straight through the lamppost, don't have to go around.

I think the game has potential with some adjustments and way more interaction but right now it's only sitting and waiting..

I'll see if I can finish it though 'cause the story is good. The sounds and music are also adding to it... it's just the non-interactivity...

There was a setup before I but I didnt think of including it since some people dont like setup programs (i.e you dont know what its going to install with the game)

The start can be slow im afraid, but it gets much better later on in the game (the start in the game was put in much later, so some of the action is missing a bit here).

No, you are going from the hotel in the city to the hotel in the village. Sorry that wasnt clear, the beggining can be a bit confusing. Promise though that it gets more involved later on in the story.

If i get time, and im not too busy, it would even be good to completely remake the game depending on players opinions.

Completed Game Announcements / Urban Disaster
Sun 25/10/2009 22:58:20
Well this is another game I made with AGS, and this was my first ever creation using it. It was made back in 2004 haha!

Its actually quite a big game, so theres alot to explore, and many puzzles to solve, so its well worth the download ;)

The game is about Roger, and his adventure in his home city of Massachusetts, in which a gang blow up his chemical factory and keep his wife hostage. It is down to you to guide Roger through the big city and track down and stop the criminals once and for all. But they are going to make sure that Roger doesn't get revenge, and they will stop at nothing to rob Roger of his millions!

The game has many puzzles and will take you a day or so to complete it :)

Wow finally someone has said about Google Wave.

It LOOKS INCREDIBLE.

Wether it will actually be useful, only time will tell. Ill definately use it when it comes out.

The live translation sounds promising since many of my friends speak different lingos it will surely help out

Im just still bummed that I didnt get an invite haha

The Rumpus Room / Re: Abandonware
Sun 25/10/2009 21:23:24
Im glad that the developers of Steel Sky made the program freeware instead of abandonware since it makes finding and playing it so much easier.

I still think it is a good enough game to continue to sell it!

I think things like online adventure FPS like halo, or HL , Or even MMORGS really stretch mutliplayer in adventures.

However

For traditional click n point adventure games, theres a limit I think.

Name: Jake Jackson

Age: 19

Female/male: Male

1. How long have you been involved in the AGS community?

I registered back in 2007 but I didnt start to get involved until this year

2. Why did you get involved in AGS?

Game creating!

3. How do you feel that the fact that AGS is a freeware programme affect the community that has built up around it?

Well i think if it was a pay per app, it wouldnt of had much of a community to begin in the first place, its nice just for a little donation button for appreciation of Chris Jones great work!

4. How big a part does the AGS community play in your life?

Erm i was really into the AGS program itself about 4-5 years ago, but i used it for several months so it did play quite a big role in my life then.

5. Have you been involved in making any games using AGS? You may list them if you want

Yes- I have made three games, 1 has been released already-

-The Mysteries of Stiego Moors 1
-Urban Disaster - I have still to release this once i find my copy of it (long time since i did AGS stuff)
-Mysteries of Stiego Moors 2- A did a very small intro which had parralex scrolling and a touch of 3d to it, Id have to dig this up again.

6. Answer these questions if you have been involved in making AGS games:

a. Were you interested in game design/programming before you started using AGS?

I was crazy on game design, I was always drawing conceptual artwork with friends, character designing / world designing, and always storywriting. Its really the software programming I aimed my life towards, so the whole gaming thing has gone down recently. I still plan though to get serious with gaming in one point in the future.

b. If no, do you feel that you would have got into game design without AGS?

c. Do you make games using other programmes, either freeware or not? How does the eperience differ?

I tried using DarkBasic and FPS creator in the past but they werent really my thing. Ive done a few platformers in VB and XNA but other than that, it really isnt my kind of thing.

d. Has AGS inspired you to try and take up game design professionally?

It did inspire me, and I have always had thoughts about professional game design, but i decided its not the path i wanted to tank. (Hobbies its great for me haha!)

7. Do you feel that there is a gender divide in the AGS community?

Not really, no. But i feel men express themselves more on any community.

8. Are you likely to feel differently about a game if you discover it's made by a female? In what way?

If the game is good, nope.

9. Do you feel that AGS makes it easier for females to get involved in computer game design? In what way?

I suppose it makes it more fun instead of computer geekish.

10. Do you feel that there is a difference between the types of games created by males and females?

Erm I think ones created by females tend to be a little more romantic.

11. Any other comments?
Yeah, Chris Jones rocks!

Hmm cant remember exactly- I think one was Ben Jordan Case 3 and Mordy 2 : The Mirror Of truth.

The Water Temple in Zelda Ocarina of Time. It was just so freakinly long !!!

Also the mayan puzzle in Broken Sword II- the spinning disc thing, it took so long to work that out (Nicole)

In terms of origanility- I would have to give the mark to Beneath a Steel Sky. Especially Joey- he ROCKED, so funny and clever haha!

Mind you, the Monkey Island series comes close.
