I was planning to post some artwork I've been doing for the full length game I'm working on, based on my old MAGS game Constance the Barbarian. Unfortunately, I'm having trouble logging into my webspace. If it sorts itself out anytime soon, I'll put them up. Its not much anyway.

I'm not sure if someone could implement this. I think that the point system should be governed by moderators who would read through posts in technical forums, critics lounge and completed games page, when something useful or helpful has been posted they would award these points, or we could have where any user can give karma points, but restrict it to 1 point per post so that people don;t start spamming.

Actually, I think the Sims 2 bulletin board does something like this. If someone gives you a really helpful reply, you can give them a 'bene' (rate this post beneficial). They all seem quite obsessed with collecting lots of these, though I'm not sure why. Perhaps they get some sort of bonus out of it? Or 'cred'? It could work here. Dunno what you'd do for incentives though...

Check and see if your ISP (Internet Service Provider) gives you free webspace. I'm with Wanadoo, and they give me 100Mb - more than I need. Worth checking before you fork out money for some of your own. Once you've got some webspace, it's really as simple as monkey_05_06 explained it. Good luck, and hope to see your game soon!

Here's my contribution:

Double sized, 'cos its a bit dark to see the details:

I've gone a different direction, and made an EVIL enchanted forest (mwah ha ha ha!). Shame it doesn't really reflect the amount of time I put into it...
Ah well, I'll probably be using it in a game, so it wasn't a complete waste of time.Ã,  :)

I'll probably release something. At the very least some screenies/sprites, from my ongoing project. At best, perhaps a short game. Course, I am going on holiday next week. And I have to go shopping for a present for my dad's birthday the week after... So most likely some screenies.Ã,  ;D

Quote from: JudgeDeadd on Sun 05/06/2005 16:52:12Uh, ever heard about constructive criticizing?

Sorry, they just made me cringe! As for constructive criticism, well I agree with Hobbes, the X-Com universe (despite the game not having much of a story), seems more dark, and I would expect a style of humour to suit. The style of humour just doesn't appeal to me. And I guess I was expecting some interesting fan-art than simply ripped sprites. Sorry if I seemed harsh.

Probably the worst webcomic I've ever seen.

I concur. How could they do this to such a brilliant game?  :'(

Urgh! I hate reality t.v. shows. But I'll probably end up watching them, 'cos everybody talks about it, and I hate not knowing what they're on about! Besides, sometimes I like to watch programs just so's I can bitch about how crap they are. :P

It's a very small man ... Or very large hourglass, you decide.

Or maybe he's just far away...

Small... far away... ('Father Ted' joke).

ILEAST FAVORITE PUZZLES:
1) ANY ANY ANY ANY puzzle that you have to have the user's manual to solve....

Actually I quite liked those puzzles in the Ben Jordan games that required you to read the manual (yes, I'm sad, I read the manual...). I mean, it should break the suspension of disbelief, but as its presented as a paranormal investigator's handbook, it fits in with the world. I felt rewarded for being anal enough to read the manual. :P

I have to agree with BorisZ there. I've been teaching myself to draw better, on paper and on the computer, and as I progress I find myself using many features of Paint Shop Pro (the prog I use) that previously seemed incomprehensible. At least for me, it seems easier teaching myself, and working out how to use these features than actually reading a guide! I think some people don't use these features simply because they don't know how useful they are. I mean, I was like Kinoko, and didn't see the point of layers and did most of my backgrounds and stuff in MS Paint - now I don't know how I ever did without layers!

At any rate, on topic, I use Paint Shop Pro, got it on sale, and it seemed less incomprehensible to me than Photoshop (both of which I had trial versions of). It just really depends on what you want to do with it.

Lady of dubious virtue:

Its a bit crap, but I'm trying to improve my sprites, so I figured I'd have a bash. Took me a couple of hours.

Edit: Was a bit bored, so here's another one:

Random guard, who's only goal is to be seriously inconvenienced by the hero. :P

A few of my faves have already been mentioned - Goonies, Labyrinth. I just recently got them on DVD, on a bit of a nostlagia trip lately! Another one is Castle in the Sky (Laputa). It was on ITV at christmas when I was a kid, and it always brings back happy memories. And its a great movie too.

I remember watching Flight of the Navigator, and Enemy Mine too. Only when someone mentions a movie do I remember all these classics I saw as a kid!

Try www.findsounds.com

Lets see, is this the kind of thing your looking for? I just typed 'record scratch' into the search engine.

It should totally have the source code to AGS on it, so that everyone may have a copy to keep it going, you know, when the space toilet from Hubble comes hurdling towards an unsuspecting Chris Jones on the day of re-entry.Ã,  :=

Somebody's been watching 'Dead Like Me'Ã,  a bit too much... :P

I quite enjoyed the game despite its brevity (you did only have a week after all!). And you definitely seemed to have captured the spooky/scary atmosphere. I was quite literally afraid of trying to open the door because I was expecting a monster or something on the other side! If you can make a longer game in the same fashion, I will be the first to download it. Keep up the good work!

A living mouse (not hamsters because they're in Fatman, Maniac Mansion and DOTT)

There's a living mouse as an inventory object in Discworld 2 (4cc of mouse blood...).
