There is an action adventure already out there, which uses just the idea that you described, Ashen. I can't put my finger on that name though...

Soul Reaver? It may not be original, but its still a pretty good idea. I rather enjoyed jumping back and forth between the real world, and the spirit realm to solve puzzles.

I have to agree with MrColossal and Kinoko. I do tend to be a bit more forgiving of flaws in adventure games, simply because there aren't so many these days (skipping over the defining adventure games issue - we'll be here all day :P). However, if a game is crap, its crap, and the Adventure Company produces crap (excepting Return to Mysterious Island - I loved those puzzles!).

In general though, I tend to think of adventures as games which have strong storylines and employ puzzles of a more cerebral nature. Course, this doesn't really work for timed puzzles, which tend to be reaction based. But thats the aspect of adventure games which drew me to them, so that how I tend to define them.

I suggest you have a read of the Adventure Architect features at the Adventure Gamers website - I've found them very informative. For team building, you'll especially want to read Part Five and Part Six.

I got 74% and guns are illegal here. Must be all those hours playing Resident Evil...Ã,  ;D

I enjoyed all the games, and I think Mr Colossal's win was well deserved, but they were all a lot of fun. I was really impressed with the quality of games made in only a week. Let's see some more!

Oh, I used to love these books! Actually, I still do, just a bit too cheap to buy them anymore. Maybe I should see if I can find any second-hand. I know there's free ones on the net, but its just not the same...

What about Gabriel Knight 2? Its been a while since I played it, but I think it was mostly 'one click does it all' and I still found it enjoyable. Course, thats probably 'cos it was long enough for me not to get bored! Still, it might be preferable to timed/cycling GUIs.

Its just it was the first thing I've done beta-testing for, and I'm a bit of a perfectionist to be honest! I think there were probably some bits of dialogue that weren't technically grammatically correct, but no one actually speaks perfectly grammatically correct English in casual conversation.

Example: "Are you dissing me 'cos I is Northern Irish?"  ;)

Just thought I point out that there are two exits between the front of the hut and the back. After drawing on the coconut, you need to use the one towards the top of the screen, because Clifford uses the one towards the bottom of the screen. This is how you make sure to avoid him. You can try it several times anyway, until you get the olive oil.

I did some of the beta-testing and sorted a number of spelling and grammar mistakes (English is my first language). Just out of professional interest, what things did I miss?

The rod is lying on the ground behind Clifford's hut, between the pile of bamboo, and the stump with the coconut on it. To get the key, first press the green button on the plane, and use the rod on the coil (this makes it a magnet). Then go to the village, use the pulley to bring the rope to the top, use the rod on it, use the pulley twice and pick up the rod and key.

Khrismuc, if you're still having trouble:

Spoiler
To capture the pink creature, first use the plate of food on the jar, and put this on the ground. Walk to the right of the cave, but DO NOT exit! Wait until the creature peeks out, and crawls into the jar. Then pick up the jar (careful you don't click on the creature itself or he says he can't catch it). That should work.

Pah! The Northern Irish accent sucks. I have mates from Londonderry, and they do not sound like that!
