Huge fan of Silent Hill's music. I think you've captured the feel perfectly.

I dig it. Very nice for the economy of space! I'm a fan of black outlines. I think that means I should be drug out back and shot.

That's the rough I'm going to draw over (if I go for the cartoony character and not a more serious, noir tone).

I like the newest version with the more desaturated pants and the determined but not robotic walk. I say fly with it.

Thanks!

Black and white is definitely my first love. If I were to do a noir-style game, I'd opt for the black and white. Something cute and cuddly or DoTT? I'd opt for the color.

I know what it's like to have a hundred dangling projects. Here's to hoping you get to finish some soon!

Gracias! I posted to the help wanted board.

Maybe animated the arms a bit - people do tend to talk with their hands.

Howdy. Old poster back again, here. I'm a 2D artist-type who has tried to make an AGS game for ages but can't wrap his simple head around the editor. Yes, I'm a sad, sad man.

I'd like to collaborate on a story and game with someone as I am an okay idea man and a pretty okay spriter but can't script to save my life. I'm not looking to have you make my project, but rather to make a unique project together.

You can see an example of the art style I am shooting for here or at my sketchblog in various posts.

I don't want to do a massive, sprawling game, but a few rooms and a few puzzles to get our feet wet sounds good to me. PM me, email me, post here, whatever works for you within the forum's guidelines.

Thanks!

Here's a quickie, example sprite thrown on a fast background. Painterly background, inked character.

It is actually quicker to do this sort of thing than to sprite for me; spriting is so meticulous, with this I can just comic-it-up.

I've been toying around with sprites done at 128 tall in this style. It actually scales pretty well!

This is the type of drawing I'm most comfortable with. What do you think? A good style for making a game? (Aside from the obvious pains of animation...)

Normally I'm not a huge fan of gradients, but the burning at the top of this one sells the whole ground level basement feel.

Your perspective/angled lines look like they all converge to that tick mark on the top of the drawing, so good job there, too.

I disagree. I'd like to dispose of a body in an adventure. Different strokes and all that.

I'm an endagered species, I'll have you know!

Heh, the PM reminded me of the board as well. I used to lurk a lot and post to the critics lounge a fair bit.

Hey, thanks for posting the explanation. It was a lot more eloquent than I was going to put it.

Wait, since I left MrColossal is now seen as mean? I really have some catcing up to do...

I just noticed this thread now, but I had gotten a few of these PM's yesterday. I was courteous and gracious in my replies and I think 'Hockeyboy' didn't like that as he apparently gave up.
