oooh i like the look of that, world domination sounds nice... and the base building sure do look alot like X-Com.. ( thats a good thing, given age of the game, still one of the best ive played )

sorry bout that  :( was in a hurry when i wrote it.

well the thing is that i tried to make my room scroll down.. like always scrolling down.
the room is a 2000x480 resolution in a 640x480 game.

i tried to use the setviewport and managed to get the room scrolling down, but the character movement was suspended and waited until the room had scrolled all the way down.

(most likely because the setviewport code segment i found in the help section used "while { }" and wait(1) )


sorry if i explain badly, butI'm still learning how to use AGS  ;D

so to be clear on what i want...

i want my room to scroll from Y 0 to Y 2000 at a comfortable speed,  :P and it will be up to the player to keep up with the pace, if you leave the top region. the game is over.

and any tips regarding uhm, gravity would be great  :P ( used a region over the room and used if player.y<2000) { player.y=player.y+2 } know of a better way... please let me know  :P

I'm looking for anyone who would like to help with the graphics to a Horror/Drama adventure, i cant draw for sh** so if anyone is good or atleast better than me at drawing ( i cant draw a stick figure without people second guessing what it is... ) what i have in mind is a dark twisted theme

* story is 100% complete

all that remains is the rest 

The story is about a man who loose his daughter in a terrible car accident, a week after the loss, his wife commits suicide and he tries to kill himself by driving off a bridge, he survives and wakes up in a hospital with a severe memory loss and seeing things he cant explain, flashes of what he thinks are memories, slowly his memories are coming back to him.. but are they memories or dreams, and are they his!
The more he remembers the more sinister the plot of the game become.

this will be a very dark,emotional horror/drama game in the borderlands of sanity and insanity, what´s real and what´s possibly cant be real!

Violence,blood,gore,suggestive themes,alcohol 18+

anyone up for the challenge?

The story ive written has been influenced by silent hill series ( except homecoming :-X ) the grudge (jap.version) and aparacidos.

the stick figure style is a memory found in a diary the game revolves around.

to be honest, i dont really know how long it will take, at least a couple of months..  :-\ at best!
depends a bit on what kind of help i can get...
i cant paint for sure, but im trying my best. music & story is the easy part  :P
The story took almost a year to complete and is now on 300+ A4 pages.
there will no doubt be quite many problems to be solved along the way but i feel comfortable enough to see it through as there´s a really good forum to get help!

in the dark has changed name to Hell Awaits and moving it´s gameplay towards old school Kings Quest series type of play with a touch of Manic mansion then throw in some 8bit Nintendo Shadow Gate, Deja vu.

Version 1.03 is out now, either through the Games section

Updated with some textures on the rooms, a new code image (easier to see it now) a hint system that tells you wich room the code is in ( no more running around in blind for hours ( lol )
If you forget the code press "C" to view it again! but it´s gonna cost you some points and seconds.
and you can now skip the Finished game / Game over screens!!!

uhm... i think that covers the most of it...

Oi, never thought that people actually would like this game... well. thing is that im working on a "sequel" bit more work put into the graphics, music, code... well pretty much everything. 700.. that´s good. my highest score´s 709  ;D
but thanks for the constructive criticism... was half expecting a flaming attack so this was somewhat a nice suprise  :)

Have to admit, i did put most of the time figuring out how to get the highscore working since the mod/plugin i found didnt work for me... wasnt able to import some gui´s so i gave up and tried to do my own instead  ;)

i didnt really have any hopes on winning the game of the year, but as i see it, it will do as it´s my first game... ever...

except for some Qbasic text adventures 25 years ago  :-\

finished my first game, well.. it ended up as my first game, it was a small project for testing various scripts and other functions within AGS.
using the Keyboardmovement script from Rui "brisby" Pires & Strazer.
basically it´s a topdown viewed arcade or something.
the goal of the game is to find a table with a code, memorize it and run for the exit and type the code.

oh and there´s a highscore "list" containing the current highscore holder and how long he has had the highscore.
and also who the previous highscore holder were.

bad graphics,bad name and bad music, it´s very short. but hey... i´ve finished a game, that´s something. ;D

**** OOooops forgot to delete the Highscore.tmp before packing and uploading the game!!! just delete Highscore.tmp and it will all be fine!  :-X ***

This module sounds good! i know the post is a couple of months old, to bad it´s not avaible for download anymore. was looking forward to trying it out in my project..
