I think it's unfair to say that racism is specifically a film noir theme. I also think it's unfair to say that film noir does not contain any racism. Everything is a product of its time; racism was prevalent in the time of film noir, and it's still prevalent, though less obviously than before, today. I think ildu summed up my point on this quite well in an earlier post.

I don't see how talking about ethnic minorities will stamp me as a racist. None has claimed that one is superior because its skincolor is pale/dark, so the Racism Bucket is not toppled yet. Not even shaken.

I don't know, it seems to me that saying "br**n girl" rather than "brown girl" or even "black girl" is more racist than anything in that banana thread. Why? Because it makes it seem like there something wrong with having brown skin. I'm sorry to tell you, ManicMatt, but black men have brown skin everywhere, even on their genitals! It's not racist, it's reality. It's like saying a caucasian person has a peachy skintone. Racist would be someone thinking less of a black man because he has a brown penis. Launchcast, the radio that comes with Yahoo IM, is very similar to this. You vote on how much you like a song and they adjust what it'll play accordingly. If you don't like something, you can tell it to never play it again, and you can skip past any songs you don't want to listen to. The free version has 30 second commercials every so often and limited skips, but I seriously have never found that limit no matter how hard I try. Also, people on your friends list can listen to your station with you, which is kind of neat.
