I can't believe no one has mentioned Leaving Las Vegas. The majority of people in this thread have said Cage sucks and no one has even mentioned Leaving Las Vegas, one of the most harrowing and most beautiful films about love... one of the most harrowing about alcoholism. The same movie in which Roger Ebert said in his review, "Cage, a resourceful and daring actor, has never been better." The same movie in which Cage won his Best Actor Oscar along with nearly every other Best Actor award for that year.

I don't care how many National Treasures or The Family Mans he makes. The fucker can act. He's got potential. He got game. Leaving Las Vegas is bullseye proof of that. End of story.

Hey remember that movie "Honeymoon in Vegas" where he was married to Sarah Jessica Parker and it was all Indecent Proposal-ed and stuff? I still to this day confuse it with "Leaving Las Vegas" when people talk about it, which leads to some hilarious misunderstandings!

I don't think he's a bad actor. He's certainly no Dennis Hopper. Even though I hated the movie, he was good in Adaptation.

If they don't name this new 'planet' (its probably more like a huge asteroid or something. I don't think even Pluto is big enough to actually be classed as a planet) it simply must be named Rupert.

Pluto was (or is still, I don't know) going to be declassified as a planet due to it's size. However, it's been known as a planet for so long, they still consider it a planet, because otherwise my very easy mother wouldn't have just served us nasty pies. She would've just served us nasty.

Just out of curiousity, the gladitorial arena in Gladiator Quest, that is a room, isn't it?Ã,  It seems to be at least a 2 room game, which is a really odd reason to be disqualified, but I just want to be sure about what I could vote on.

I would say that the arena portion, being a mini game, is allowed by the rules.

By a room, we do not necessarily mean one crm file. If you want to use other rooms for effects such as time passing, changes in the style of the room, minigames such as the sniper mode in 6DA etc, that's fine but the bulk of the game should be centered around one location.

The puzzles and story telling part of the game take place in the prison, the arena is just an additional minigame.

We use Yahoo Instant Messenger and a webcam to video chat with my brother in law's brother who's currently in Iraq. We got the audio to work only once, so I don't know about that, but it's good to be able to at least see each other and type. Since the only mac I own is a Mac Classic (System 6 in the hizzy, yo), I really don't know if it will work, but I thought I'd share my solution to a similar problem.

Bill Watterson is not Jim Davies. He seems, on the whole, a reasonable, ethical fellow. It can't hurt to ask permission BEFORE you start it, which is what I would do. He might appreciate it more than you expect, so long as you don't sell it.

That aside, I agree that you shouldn't do a Calvin and Hobbes game. I would play it if you made it, but I would much rather see you make something original, perhaps being inspired by Calvin and Hobbes. Nothing is stopping you from taking your story and applying it to different, original characters.
