General Discussion / Re: The Avatar Archive

Let's see here...pull up a chair, young'uns. It's time to go back in...time. I don't have a lot of avatars, and I don't recollect any that I don't have. So you'll have to live with what I've got.

Who could forget my beautiful rendition of the great superhero, Matthew Lesko? I sure can't!

And then there was this, which was an attempt at a rendition of me:

Then came the most international of Incidents:

And now I have my Truffle Shuffle. That's it. Go away now. You damn kids with your music...

I was thinking of labling the monster chasing the Hero as "Error 52"... But I decided against it.

Or "Error 47". That was the bane of my gameplaying existance with that game. It might be one of my favorite games ever, but if I ever see Error 47 again, I might explode with fury.

Alright you whiny babies, here's an update.

The Awards are going to run a little later this year, due to the fact that it's changing hands and things need to be settled before they can get started. There have already been a couple snags, but sit tight, please. They're still going to run. Maybe I should bold that.

They're still going to run.

Stop PMing me about them.

They Are Still Going to Run.

That's what you get for all that software piracy you've been doing.

Do we win the dance portion if we do the truffle shuffle?Ã,  ;)

I'm not going to say, to be fair to everyone who doesn't know how to do the truffle shuffle.

...But yes, you do.

Now now, the fun doesn't end just because we know it's fake. Do you really get emails with all the information? Please tell me you do.

I definate could use the help if anyone wants to help me. Once I get the info I need from DG, I'll get started on setting it up.

I finally get to experience my dream of adding a dance portion to the AGS awards. So start practicing your moves if you want to win!

Well, this semester's almost over and if I have some help, I'd be happy to do it if noone else can. It's a pretty good time of the year for me, what with school winding down, so I won't be too busy for it. Besides, I need something to do or I'll end up turning into a vegetable.

I say people make screenshots from fake games and we use them

We can TOTALLY use the Frankenstein picture from Time Out.

Try two weeks, not a month. I think a two week trial will give everyone a better idea of if more time helps them. Then if two weeks isn't enough for some, bump it up to a month. Either way, I agree more time might help.

CJ, I think everyone has... I know I did...

Same here. I saw the topic and I looked at the thread because I was hoping someone would make a joke towards AGA and then have AGA make a 'your mom' joke back at them.

So now we await some derogatory comment about Mills' mother.

Well ... I did name him after an adventure game character!Ã,  His name is Cosmo :)

I named my dog after an adventure game character as well. Mainly because I liked the name Stellar, but it was initially because of the chick from Space Quest 6.

Naming pets after space terms that also happen to be adventure character names? What's the deal with that!

Edit: I forgot to mention, adorable!!

Wow, are you listening to NPR too? I just heard this and just read this article on npr.com. It's an incredibly interesting find, especially from an anthropologist's point of view. I haven't been this happy about a skeleton since I saw Lucy!

Also, the disparity of opinion in the two on-line reviews of RL&BAT made me giggle a little (although I think AGA was a little snooty about it. Lighten up!)

Hey, my review is very flattering! I love that game. And don't worry about AGA. His opinions don't matter because he hates everything.

My friend Amy could win any game of Minesweeper in under 10 seconds. Watching her play was like watching one of those crazy people play and win, like, Super Mario in 5 minutes. It's amazingly cool to watch.

It's not the same. The games we're talking about use regular 3rd person movement, only with pfotos of actors. In Phantasmagoria 1 and 2, what you have is an actor in a certain pose for each room. He doesn't move freely about the room.

I thought that they did have walking animations of the actors, but is has been a while since I played.
