I'm surprised nobody's mentioned Phantasmagoria. I haven't played Phantasmagoria 2, but I think it does this as well.

We have refrigeration in my country.

Hah! Don't make me laugh. We all know you don't have electricity in Australia. You bury your beer in the ground to keep it cool and use potatoes to power your computer.

Heh, computers don't fit in digestive tracts.

You should see Jean Reno's digestive tract.

Since you played both paths, here's a little snag in the story:

Spoiler
In the good path Ben sleeps with the girl, so he can't possibly be a virgin for the ceremony- yet he doesn't mention this fact to the vampires.
[close]

Spoiler
The fact that the vampires tell him that they can tell he's a virgin after Mary spent the night with him proves that he didn't sleep with her. Just because they shared a bed doesn't mean anything went on in that bed.

Yufster doesn't live in the U.S., so she doesn't know, Lost. :)

Basically it goes like this:
Kindergarten: 5 years
1st thru 12th grade: 6 thru 18 years of age
Then college anywhere after that

(And, if you want to know, 1st-5th is usually "elementary school", 6th-8th is middle school or junior hgh school, 9th thru 12th is always high school) :)

Actually junior high is generally 7th-9th grade, or at least it used to be. It's probably the same as middle school these days.

I've only played a little bit, but I'm confused by everyone's criticism. What's wrong with the GUI? It's a Sierra game and, although the backgrounds and characters are AGI, it fits fine. If it were in VGA would it be any different than other VGA remakes of AGI games that Sierra did officially and Tierra did unofficially? Just because it's the AGS ult GUI doesn't mean it's wrong for every game.

Now, aside from that, I would like to see the graphics redone in VGA. Because it's a remake, it should have more than just a point and click interface added. I never finished the original Black Cauldron, though, so I'll still play this one, but you might keep redoing the graphics in mind for maybe a later re-release.

There are no polar bears in Alaska...

You know, a quick google would keep you from looking so clueless, unless they're giving fake polar bear viewing tours in Alaska to ignorant tourists.

This has nothing to do with the debates, this is just a great story. My anthropology teacher, Alan, used to work in Alaska, cataloging artifacts found while they were working on the pipeline. The grandmother of one of his informants had been out walking along the coast and was attacked by a polar bear. This woman was in her 90s, but she obviously wasn't willing to go just yet. So she punched the polar bear in the mouth. Her mitten got stuck in the bear's throat, suffocating it. She returned back to the village and told everyone about it. Nobody believed her, so she led them to the polar bear's body. As proof, she reached into the bear's throat, pulled her mitten out and put it back on. She was from there on a hero of the village and the main character in a wonderful story.

I thought you'd all enjoy that break away from the debating in this thread. You can now go back to complaining to each other.

I personally think natural medicine deserves more credit than it's given. Although I take several drugs for various ailments, I've always been against using them. Why? Well, now, gather 'round and I'll tell you.

Back in the early '90s my family lived in Ohio. My poor mother, who's suffered health problems all her life, got pneumonia so bad that the coughing broke two of her ribs. Some doctor of her's prescribed Gentamicin, an anti-biotic that was growing in popularity. After taking it for a while, the pneumonia cleared up, but things got worse for her. She was gradually losing her sense of balance completely and she had no idea why. Nor did any doctors. After spinal taps and other extreme tests, there still was no clear conclusion. She felt like she was going insane. Years later, it was discovered that her vestibular nerve was destroyed by the Gentamicin. She no longer has any sense of balance at all. For years she was unable to walk without support, whether it be one of us or her cane. Because she's amazingly tough, she can now get around with no visible balance problem. And she's not the only one that was affected this way by gentamicin. Here's just one of many support groups that are for these poor people: http://www.wobblers.com/

Where am I going with this story? Just making a point that man-made drugs can do a lot of good, but they can also destroy someone's life in the blink of an eye. I trust herbs and natural medicines far more than I do manufactured ones now.

Edit: There's also a book called Bitter Pills: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/055337852X/qid=1097354446/sr=8-1/ref=pd_ka_1/102-1865943-4565745?v=glance&s=books&n=507846 that's partially about the author's wife's reaction to gentamicin. It's an interesting read.

I like this little fuck-up from Bush:

"I made a decision not to join the International Criminal Court in The Hague, which is where our troops could be brought to (oops) -- brought in front of a judge, an unaccounted judge.

Now let's play "What Bush was going to say?"

Can you guess what Bush was going to say after "brought to --"? Was it:

a) Justice
b) Kathmandu
c) Delicious cupcakes
d) John Stamos

John Stamos! John Stamos!

That part made me laugh, too. I was hoping he wouldn't correct himself and stumble over his words like he is known to do.

Wow, so many of these are not in English. They'll be a nice addition to my collection!

Don't worry, since your dad owns 4 orthodontic practices and makes about 650,000 dollars before taxes, I'm sure you can afford to get a paid hosting accountÃ,  :=

Aw snap!

The electoral college can make the popular vote completely pointless.Ã,  It's like a safety valve ... if those in power don't agree with the popular vote, just use the electoral college to put who you want in office.

Colorado has an amendment on the ballot to get rid of the electoral college, thank goodness. I hate how they word things, though. Last time a lot of Colorado accidentally voted against some gay rights amendment because of wording when they thought they were voting for it. Hopefully that won't happen this year...

The last time I took it, I got 30/30. I'd probably get much less now, because I'm finding myself dumber the older I get. Not that I'm much older than I was the last time I took it...

I could've gone to Mensa if I wanted to, but who the hell wants to go to school with a bunch of annoying math nerds?

I want this costume so hard.

In the year 2525 (if man is still alive), a giant snake lady appeared in space, prepared to attack Earth. The governments of the world pulled together and several ships to combat her. After several of years of battle, one final ship defeated her. The thousandth ship to be sent after her. She was soon referred to as 'the face that launched a thousand ships', in an allusion to the legendary Helen.

The end.

I bet Pesty won't be alive to post tomorrow

Don't get me wrong. I'm not making fun of Death, far from it. If he wants to do ballet, more power to him.

Death takes ballet classes at the local art center and he's not ashamed of it. Seriously, are you going to make fun of him for it?
