Dear Santa,

I hope that my brother gets to come home for Christmas. That's all I really hope this year.

That's awesome, thanks for the link.

I think it's time to dig up Cornjob's old AGS christmas poster again. Anyone happen to have it?

I went for Christmas shopping with my parents and grandma. As my birthday is approaching, my grandma wanted me to find myself a present so that she could buy it to me. I stumbled upon a bookshelf and noticed this:

Player's hintbook

The last line captured my attention, Write and create your own games, so I thought "Heh, maybe AGS is mentioned in there.

I also noticed the name of the author.

Simon Carless... doesn't ring any bells.

So anyways, I looked at the table of contents and...

Editing tips for Adventure Game Studio

Zing zing! A whole chapter about AGS?! Well, almost.

How to make your own graphic adventure classics. blah de blah de blah I didn't read it all in the store, k

Wow, that's cool! So I turned the page and...

Excellent and, now free, Adventures of Fatman.

Other games mentioned were 5 Days a Stranger, Pleurghburg: Dark Ages (\,,/) and Apprentice. Rock on!

I think the other customers looked at me a bit weird, what with me taking photos of a book... so I put the book back in the shelf and chose a couple of movies I'm now getting for my birthday!!

General Discussion / Christmas specials

Hello.

Christmas is coming. Every morning (and afternoon) of Christmas Eve various Christmas shows are shown (at least here in Finland) but it seems the same cartoons get repeated every Christmas. So I was wondering, what are some of your favourite Christmas shows?

My list includes:
- The Snowman (pure classic, Christmas is not Christmas without this one)
- From all of us to all of you (another classic, especially I love the part with Donald wrapping presents!)
- A Garfield Christmas Special
- A Charlie Brown Christmas/Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown! (actually, I just saw this recently. But I have read the book so many times. Rocks. \,,/)
- Mickey's Christmas carol (I remember getting this one for Christmas when I was about six years old. I love it)
- The Small One (aww)

Anything you would add? Some "must see"s? Tell me!

Cheers.

General Discussion / Re: It's been 25 years..

I think we once agreed not to have any religious debates here so I'm not going to bother taking part in that...

...but I hope John Lennon has rest in peace during these 25 years and will keep it up in the future, too. My knowledge about the Beatles isn't very good, but I do like some of their songs.

Yes, I've seen that and it's super. The song is "Wizards in Winter" by Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Their album "The Lost Christmas" is possibly the best ever Christmas album I've heard.

(assuming it's the video with crazy Christmas lights, the link isn't working anymore.)

Hah, Indy Java. I remember that, I was even going to learn to use it rather than AGS back in the days... I'm lucky I didn't. I remember there was a game that started in a house that was floating on the sky. The main character had pink skin (and I think the same guys who made that game made Otto Experiment or whatwasit). The game looked very nice though, and it inspired me to try IndyJava. Turned out I couldn't program at all, so eventually I moved to AGS.

I also remember roBOT, but I never really used it.

General Discussion / Good morning
Mon 05/12/2005 13:25:47
7:45. My clock radio starts blasting popular music, as usual. I set it off and decide to lay on my bed for a brief moment. I'd get up in ten minutes on my own because that's how it has been every morning.

No.

8:39. I wake up. Panic! I'm supposed to be at work in 21 minutes! I have to be there in time to catch the morning meeting! And by this time I'm usually already leaving off to work! What do I do now?

I sit on my bed for a moment, pondering what to do. I could call my boss and tell her I'll be late. Nah, forget it. I'll get up and change clothes as fast as I can. Breakfast! I pour myself a bowl of Cheerios and a glass of orange juice and have my breakfast faster than ever. I proceed to brush my teeth on double speed. Not bad! Now just to get my bag and off to work!

Wait, I'll be needing some lunch. I'm supposed to have some chicken and rice with some salad, leftovers from yesterday. Duh! Mum hasn't prepared my lunch! So I grab a microwave pizza and a banana and stuff them into my bag.

Scarf, check. Coat, check. Shoes, check. Hat, check. Mittens, check. I take my bicycle and start cycling to work so fast that I would make pretty good opponent to Farlander. Woah, better be careful, it's quite slippery outside. The way to work is 1/3 hills going up, 1/3 hills going down and 1/3 something in between.

9:05. I arrive to work. Phew, the meeting hasn't even started properly yet. I take my seat and sit down, sweating like crazy.

How was your morning?

Competitions & Activities / Re: December MAGS
Sun 04/12/2005 14:23:42
There has been several team efforts made for MAGS before, Coup de Cup and Spellbound come to my mind at the moment. Personally, I don't see why team efforts would not be allowed, after all, it's all about making games.
#376
Ah, sounds mysterious, and looks excellent. Make sure the soundtrack will be similar to that of Terranigma and Chrono Trigger, k?

Looking forward to it, yes I am.

Why to contact Oz, though? Because it was Ghormak who won the last compo.

Haha, nice digging up that Scramm website! I remember waiting and waiting and visiting that site every now and then, waiting for the engine to be ready. I wasn't hardcore enough to use AGS back then.

I also have faint memories of Glumol website. I remember I was going to use it, too, in one point with my friend. We we're going to make the best adventure game ever! Oh, how silly we were...

I would possibly buy it if I found a way to buy stuff online. I listen to game/movie music EVERY DAY and having Apprentice soundtrack cd with printed covers and stuff would make me feel special. Not to mention other people going "??? What on Earth is this album? o_O" when they went through my cd collection.
